I don’t know how you prevent a crazy person from doing crazy things, but it’s sad we’ve reached a point where shootings have become a tool for media and politicians to gain points/votes.

I used to work in a mental hospital. It's literally impossible to stop crazy from crazy, even in a 24/7 controlled and monitored environment with a reasonable staff to patient ratio. Same problems exist in prisons. The only solution is to not outsource your personal security to the police department.

Google is a search engine, dumbshit, not a source. When someone asks for the source of your made up numbers, “search the internet to find my made up numbers” is a pretty goddam stupid response.
If he hasn’t figured out by now how Google filters what you see and don’t see, then he’s beyond hope.

This place is the furthest thing from a liberal echo chamber there is, how can you possibly accuse me of being lost in an echo chamber with a straight face?

The buzzwords and talking points are straight out of vice/vox/etc on every issue.....Patriarchy! lol

We live in a country of 340m, lots of extremists on both sides but you pop in here passionately slinging shit only when convenient.

Something tells me Alyssa Milano isn’t exactly a regular Walmart shopper.

The new socialist know how to do it right.

The old socialist had no clue.
As Pete Townsend wrote "meet the new boss same as the old boss".

This "democratic socialism". That means each and every person will be equal and equally screwed. Beautiful in its simplicity.

This place is the furthest thing from a liberal echo chamber there is, how can you possibly accuse me of being lost in an echo chamber with a straight face?

Bravo! Encore! Encore!

You can't type what you typed above without being indoctrinated.

You cannot see the pitfalls of your own ideology and it's failings because you weren't sufficiently exposed to the counter argument, which is much stronger..

There is no systemic racism, doesn't exist in 2019 America.

Apartheid South Africa? Yes, that's systemic racism and a group of people in power over another not looking to give up control of resources.

No hands are clean, especially not the Marxists.

He literally says in the manifesto that he supports universal healthcare, he trashed the USA for not doing more to stop man made climate change, he literally argued for de population. In what universe is ANY of those conservative positions? Tell us dion. I'll be waiting.

Where a person stands on healthcare doesnt díctate their political ideology. It’s possible to be for universal healthcare and be against immigration. That’s the problem with the two parties they don’t represent the common man in the USA. Trump actually had vocally supported a single payer healthcare system. That didn’t hurt him in the republican primaries.

The bottom line is this guy who posted the manifestó and committed the shooting is a massive racist. He’s not one of those racist that Dems like to just call for the shit of it. He is a real full blown racist. The real threat. Like I’ve said before the term racist has been so dumbed down now that everyone in this pc culture could be called racist. The real racists aren’t even identifiable bc they have gone underground. Suppression of speech has led to this. When you can be fired for what you say or suspended from mlb like John rocker was in the 90s that was a huge hint to racists to keep their mouths shut. PC culture created this guy bc he hid his beliefs from public so no one could intervene.

Unfortunately trump has a segment of his base that is dangerously racist. Love him or hate him the truth is fact. The left has its lunacy too but this guy specifically is linked to white nationalism. Whatever you want to call it

Not a bad analysis. Not everything is motivated by politics. In fact, most of these shooters were pissed off at society because they felt they got dealt a bad hand and they’re off their rocker.

I don’t know how you prevent a crazy person from doing crazy things, but it’s sad we’ve reached a point where shootings have become a tool for media and politicians to gain points/votes.

Best take or tweet I have seen so far from all of this. You have the guy from Gilroy who was an Italian/Iranian who wanted to kill white twats and hated jews, but he liked an extreme right leaning book. Plenty of ammo for both sides to go crazy about.

You got the Texas guy who hated immigrants flooding into Texas, but he also wanted UBI, universal healthcare, and hated the country because of what we have done to the environment. Again plenty of ammo for both sides.

I think a lot of this is one of two things, ya some of it is trolling hoping people on both sides will create this division trying to point fingers. I also think its seriously messed up people that are lost that grasp onto extreme talking points from both sides. These aren't people working for campaigns, these aren't normal Americans that have normal lives. These are crazy people that latch onto extreme ideologies, many times having ideologies that directly conflict with one other. Its because they're mentally unhinged and lost.

Those are generational issues, not left/right ones. They're in the left/right spectrum in America because our two party system boils everything down to that dichotomy. Go look at Republican Millennial views on climate change or where universal healthcare falls on the political spectrum in Europe. I'll be waiting.

This is just dumb. This is the entire thing that makes this stupid blame game idiotic. Everyone knows those things are political talking points from the left, its not a generational thing. 2 days ago you would be here calling those progressive view points. But now a lunatic shooter said he wanted those things, its now, "those aren't political those are generational".

The deflecting and finger pointing from both sides on all of this is beyond sad.

This guy however does not represent Trump supporters. This guy and all other terrorist of this kind are insane and are acting alone for their own purpose and until we as a nation finally start holding the criminal/terrorist accountable for their own actions, we will not get past this. Plus, there is a segment of the left that is racist too but, they hide it as well.

feel kinda bad for Trumpsters. All of the job growth under Trump has been in non Trump voting areas.
MW-HO720_mckins_20190802100846_MG.jpg

So I guess you gave up on the bad job growth and bad economy stuff, so now you're spinning it to look at where the job growth is happening is the bad thing.

I know the hardcore Trump supporters on here get flack for always being pro Trump, but this is just as bad if not worse. You are incapable of saying anything positive. You're dead silent on here when the stock market is doing great (the vast majority of Trumps term) but god forbid it has one or two bad days. You get here faster than anyone to make sure you post the bad numbers.

I wouldnt be surprised if you are Bill Maher or a writer for his show. Its like you are rooting for the economy and job market to fail just so you can say I told you so.

Yep, this country is on its way to Hell because of foreigners like yourself. You brought your liberal ways here and now look at us. I think it was by design to take us down. You Canadians still answer to the Queen and the Brits are using you to do what they could not.

Kitty still hasn't figured out that America has always been a nation of immigrants...

Can't believe I spent 5 minutes looking for these videos, but this guy (whose IQ > 120) explains it remarkably well why these deluded Marxists are so wrong without even mentioning them and without getting political... so maybe this will get through to them (yeah right, the ideology must survive at all costs)

All of this happens because America is great, because American capitalism, technological advancement and freedom sets the tone for the post WW2 world. Because the oppressive white patriarchy not willing to share power with others is precisely not that.

Racism is always wrong. Terrorism is always wrong. American nationalism, america is great... always right.

I would imagine they don’t. I know no other country in the world has the drug issue we do (legal and illegal). I would also imagine nobody diagnoses mental illness quite like we do.

We have a lot of problems in this country, and I think drugs are near the root of a lot of them.

And our gun laws “prevent” mentally ill people from owning firearms. We don’t/can’t enforce it. Enforcing laws we already have would be a great place to start. Not exactly sure how you do that, but if you make the laws, you need to enforce them.

So I looked into this a bit more and the US is near the top of the world with mental illness. With that being said, as you mentioned, one of the reasons is because we are better than most places with diagnosis. It makes sense that we are going to have a higher percentage than South Sudan.

Economics plays a huge role; typically the poorer you are, the more likely. It did talk a lot about drug problems, but from what I gathered, drug addiction and mental illness are separate from one another. However, as many surely know, many who suffer from mental illness will naturally gravitate to drugs and alcohol. One thing I found pretty interesting is that women suffer much more than men when it comes to mental illness. Not just one type (say depression), but in just about every category. Why don't we see women shooting up places nearly as often? I can't recall the last time a woman involved in a mass shooting (I am sure it's happened)

The gun violence is an issue and as you mentioned, there are lots of factors: relatively easy access to guns, drugs/gangs, mental illness, lax gun enforcement, etc. All need to be addressed if the country wants to see a decrease in gun violence. I get frustrated when people will post that it is solely a mental illness issue, which is not the case. If we could magically cure mental illness, we will still have gun violence, although not as much. I also think the majority of Americans (including Dems) don't advocate for no guns whatsoever. A few on this board and others, often find that random tweet and run with it. I don't own a gun and most likely never will, but don't think guns should be completely outlawed. Found this also: a bit dated but interesting nonetheless: https://news.gallup.com/poll/1645/guns.aspx

Here is a site I have seen before that tracks gun violence: https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/. They define a mass shooting where 4+ people are shot iirc

The majority of Americans disagree with you.

I'm ok with that...reality, like science, is not determined by consensus.

Incidentally, I think in one of those videos I posted he polls the audience who are presumably educated and above average intelligence, and shows that their opinions do not match reality at an astonishing clip... like 90%.

They don't know what they were talking about. You don't know what you are talking about.

"openly support circumventing immigration laws and flooding the country with illegals from the third world; openly mock and berate straight, white males, blaming them for all of society's problems. The list goes on and on.

It has become acceptable to be prejudice/racist/bigoted against straight, white males. We hear it everyday on the news and from our elected leaders. They're obsessed with race and identity politics. The white man is aways on the bottom and always get the blame for everyone else's problems.

Blacks can be for blacks; Mexicans for Mexicans; Asians for Asians; but, whitey can't be for himself. That's wrong, bad, toxic and racist. Whitey must feel guilty for the sins of the past and put everyone else before himself. Any disagreement and he is outcast as a racist, Nazi, white supremacist, etc."

None of this is true or real or "grounded in reason". The recent discussions in this country around race have been to illuminate the systemic racism inherent in our society and institutions. Surprise but we've been a majority white patriarchy for much of our society's history. So white males are the ones who have to answer for that systemic racism and injustice. Having to share your power with the rest of your fellow humans isn't a logical reason to shoot them.

Well yes dipshit it is true. There are democrats circumventing immigration laws. There are people blaming white males for every problem. There are people (like you) who cannot have a disagreement without either calling someone a racist or Nazi.

Everything he said was factual.

“White males have to answer”. Hmm. Can’t imagine why that kind of talk would alarm anyone at best, or at worst, serve as a dog whistle to the unbalanced.

And now look, I'm getting closer to finding the truth...there were nine mexicans shot.

"Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said late Saturday that three Mexican nationals had been killed in the shooting, while Foreign Relations Secretary Marcelo Ebrard said that six Mexicans were wounded. Ebrard identified three of the wounded as 45-year-old Mario de Alba Montes, 44-year-old Olivia Mariscal Rodriguez, and 10-year-old Erika de Alba Mariscal. Ebrard added that the man and woman are from Chihuahua and all three are being treated at an El Paso hospital. The other three wounded Mexicans were two men and a woman from Torreon, in Coahuila state, and Ciudad Juarez. Their names were not given."
Were they here legally or not?

I will push back on this just a little and this is one of the reasons Im not a fan of her like many on here are. Her whole thing starting out was how she hated identity politics and how she hated that the left always talks about race.

I mean this is the girl that is like the head of the "BLEXIT" movement which by all definition is an identity politics movement. Most days 70-80% of her tweets are about black Americans or race in general.

A part of me still feels like she is a very smart girl and saw a great path to make lots of money and is doing all of this for show (or at least started this out because of this). She has gotten better over the last couple years or so, but early on it definitely sounded like a girl that didnt believe anything she was saying and was just regurgitating right wing headlines to rile up that base.
"girl" "girl" You're not believable.
