But the loophole that would be created by that is those countries such as Mexico will start denying asylum, (probably upon the request of the seeker) since they know they're ultimate goal is to reach the US, not to just get out of their country.

I think, truth be told, he was talking more to the Palestinian and the Somali. I'm probably the only person on this thread to have spent substantial time in Mogadishu -- town of Ilhan Omar's birth - and lived to tell about it. Even seasoned international aid workers considered that place a pestilent, violent, corrupt hell hole - before it became too deadly even to visit.
The idea that well-intentioned but naive do-gooders in refugee agencies created an entire congressional district in Minnesota out of Somalis, many of whom were strident anti-Western Muslim extremists, is a terrific argument to stop importing refugees until we can do it more intelligently.
I'd be ok with both being deported.
Didn't think i mentioned anywhere in my comment that the origin of the asylum seekers are all central American. It doesn't matter where they come from, if they are trying to get to us via the Mexican border, they have to seek asylum there before they get here.
Negate the voices of Muslim anti-American extremists? Yes, by all means. Have you spent one minute in that part of the world - stretching from the Horn of Africa to Pakistan? Millions - a majority - of people there are utterly committed to seeing the United States destroyed as an matter of religious faith. That's not to say every Muslim immigrant in America should be deported. But to allow an organized voice of anti-American rhetoric from that segment in Congress is ludicrous.
The point is if you are from say Syria, for example, you cant just come and ask for asylum in Mexico first..it will be the bordering countries there. That's the only point I was add/making. Wax your taint and calm down.

Which I think would make it a lot easier for Trump to target those countries with penalties. If Mexico starts to just deny all these asylum seekers, Trump will just threaten tariffs again.
Also I think we would see a significant drop in people migrating north for "asylum". Basically, "wait we have to apply for asylum in Mexico first and they might accept me? Nah not worth the walk, Ill just stay in Guatemala".

My taints not due for a waxing for another couple of weeks, Anywho...I would think that the rule could technically only apply to having them ask asylum in one of our bordering countries first? who are we to tell say...someone from Syria, that they have to seek Asylum in say...Turkey first. Turkey's just gonna tell them to tamp sand and move along.
Was on vacation and ran into a Latino family from Southern California. After some drinks they started to open up about how crappy CA has become and want to move away. They were Independents but have become closet Trump supporters because of being afraid of how people around them would react if they knew they were Trump supporters. They went through the legal process and are sick and tired of the illegals and other stuff that is happening in CA and said the people around them are as crazy as you see on TV.
But that’s what is funny about it. Even when he messes up or says something dumb or incorrectly, it goes straight to “that’s racist!” Or some ist/ism.
They can’t even take advantage of a bad move correctly because they only have one play in their playbook.
Its our country, we should be the ones that make the rules on how you are able to enter our country. If you are from Syria and you come to America seeking asylum, ya one of the first things being asked is why did you come halfway across the world to seek asylum? It seems like if you are traveling halfway around the world you aren't really seeking asylum, you are just seeking a way to get into the US.
Actual asylum seekers are supposed to be people being persecuted by their country and need to flee it out of safety and seek protection from another country. Its not well my country is crap, I now have a choice to live wherever I feel like it now, which is what many of these "asylum" seekers have become.
If you are seeking actual asylum, you would look for the closest country that would provide asylum to you. That is all this rule is saying. Its no longer, my country sucks so now I choose to live in America. Its now, if you think you're country sucks so much you have to leave it, go to the closest country that offers asylum and apply. I also hope that if those people get turned away, I hope we look into why they got turned away (probably because the vast majority aren't actual asylum seekers but economic asylum seekers) and we dont just automatically accept them.

I just think it was a really dumb political move by him. I dont think it was racist at all, everyone knows it wasn't racist. But even he should know saying that line was just a softball over the middle of the plate for the Dems and the media. And this was the worst time to give them that softball because they were in the middle of not just shooting themselves in the foot, but blowing their feet off.
