Interesting and important debate. Mattis & now his replacement, Shanahan, don't believe in aircraft carriers and have begun policy change to phase them out. It's a tricky situation to replace the big role they fill. They can project a massive amount of air power but are now huge & easy targets in modern warfare. There is no reliable defense against current iterations of anti-ship missiles. Imagine the hit the Navy would take in a war where multiple carriers were sunk. Is it better to have 1 carrier or a dozen destroyers/cruiser/subs?

So where do you draw the line then at not supporting services that are for the common good? Should we not pay taxes to support law enforcement, fire fighters, postal service, schools, health department, etc.?
Yet I righties on this board posting links and tweets from propaganda sites like Breitbart repeatedly.
If you're too dumb to see the difference between paying taxes to fund local police departments, schools, etc. and forcing people to inject chemicals into their bodies then there's no point in having this conversation.
