Bingo. The double standard bothers me more than anything. They would never ever in a million years criticize or question anything about islam the way they do with christians.
Remember Joy Behars comment about Pence recently? Think she would dare say something like that about a muslim?
That's because, when ppl say they are socialist, what it actually means is all of their citizens make decisions what's best for everyone, not the govt. Basically all citizens are stakeholders in the govt, unlike say a Bernie, who wants the govt to tell everyone what's best.
Also, as already said...things are a lot different when your entire country is the population of a midwestern city and every single person is exactly the same.
Each and every superintendent is an extremely powerful person politically. Maybe the most powerful in that county. There's nothing free market about it.
The administrative expenses in these counties are absurd. You could cut 75% of them and noone would notice.
For what they do they're absolutely extreme. Jcps had numerous people making exorbitant salaries meanwhile teachers were having to spend out of pocket for school supplies. It was so bad the state almost took over.
If a corporation wants to spend their own money, they can pay whomever whatever. Their choice. Government is a whole different ball game. They're spending our money.
We're getting our asses kicked because the institution called education is horrible. It focuses on bringing the top down instead of the bottom up. For both students and teachers. Largely because of unions and consolidated federal control
Top students and teachers are held back to accommodate low performers. Not the other way around

Are you opposed to spending on military in general or wasteful spending...like 100's of dollars a bale for a certain type of hay??? (My mother was a purchasing agent for the Army in the70's and she told me the story of how she had to find and buy a certain type of hay that cost over $100 a bale).
IMO, spending the amount necessary to have the most powerful military and weapons in the world, is appropriate. Just eliminate the waste. Likewise with education.

Wasn't Sessions one of the people who argued Clinton and people in the Obama administration shouldn't be prosecuted for their crimes since we shouldn't get in the habit of prosecuting politicians for crimes they commit in office? Oh the irony.

He's been grasping at straws all along. There was never anything there. Trump and co were illegally wiretapped for months. If there was ANYTHING, we would've known it prior to the election.
It's just a stall. Trying to hold on till midterms at least. That's all it ever was.

I agree with this sentiment, but I don't know if it is actually possible. $100 bales of hay, $5000 hammers, and absurd wages for administrators are systematic.

I’m going to defend Sessions for a minute, and try to look at why he may have chosen to act as he has.
On his recusal from the Russia investigation maybe he knew there was no there, there. The anger over the 2 AG’s refusal to recuse themselves from investigations that they clearly should have pushed him to try to do the right thing. In hindsight it was dumb on his part for assuming the Dems would take the high road, but he also didn’t know Trump was going to fire Comey.
As for an independent counsel, again, Sessions is acting appropriately and political on this. A special counsel isn’t appointed to look for a crime, unlike Muellers appt, so Sessions wants to have all the law on his side if he chooses to go that route. Secondly, and probably more likely, is the threat of him legally being able to appoint one has more of an effect of keeping Mueller and the Dems in check.
