Then why is he a candidate? It's Hillary vote Vs. the Anti-Hillary vote. That's a shameful way to look at this election.

Its beyond shameful. But its what we're stuck with.

Hopefully Sanders will take her out. I think he has completely horrendous policies. But I also think it will only take 1 term before everyone sees how awful socialism is. That will cause everyone to completely shun handouts, or the country will just go into an Atlas Shrugged style rebellion. Either way, we can come back. If Hillary wins, itll be a slower decline into an abyss of no return.

On the same wave length as you. I by no means think Trump is the greatest thing ever. He is essentially an Independent running as a Republican. I really could care less about his social views. The GOP has got to get with the times. Holding a Bible and throwing stones at folks who have abortions has not done anything to keep us from being the situation we are in now. I do not think any different of folks who have those strong beliefs. I believe in God but I am not going to use knowing a Bible verse as the main credential to get this country out of the mess it is in right now. I just think he is the best equipped to fix this economy and national debt which I think is the greatest threat to my generation and this country as a whole. Anyone who thinks he is going to press a button to launch a nuke are just blowing smoke.
Agreed.

People who use the POTUS as their "spiritual adviser" need to re-think their decision.

We need a leader and CEO (thus a great "delegater"), nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah, and you make another point that I haven't thought about. Is letting sanders in for 1 term a better strategy to push in the long run? I agree that Hillary will kill us.

I understand the dislike some of you have for social conservatives. Couple of serious questions.
1) are most social conservatives also fiscal conservatives?
2) would lincoln have been considered a social conservative in 1860?

1. No. They spend just as much. True fiscal conservatives don't get elected.

2. I dunno.

America will never be a socialist country. Anyone who thinks that is a moron. Even if Sanders gets elected, and he won't, America will not be a socialist country. We might see some new deal type policies (which wouldn't be a bad thing), but as far as turning America into a socialist state that's just ridiculous fear mongering by the right.

No. we don't ned anymore "New Deals" where is the money gonna come from? Any new deal social policies would be nothing but $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

How about making cuts? How about not seeing every time I go to a health fair and see skurbs signing people for Obama phones?

How about decreasing the dependency on tax payers?

I don't agree DaBoss. There's a generation coming up that believes in it 100%. See Russia 1914.

Sanders would cause catastrophe, which would require drastic correction. Fiscal conservatives might finally take hold. Capitalism and free market would make a strong return. I think the majority would welcome smaller government finally.

Oh, ok.

Honestly we get taken to the woodshed on our import/export trading. It's disgusting so if Trump only got that in order we would be a stronger country.

I also think he truly plans to attack American companies fleeing for cheaper labor/taxes and Americans not having those jobs.

Really the two go hand in hand as far as getting us back to a strong country.

I was talking more about economics. Not social policies. Neoliberalism has almost destroyed this country. The shift in economic policy has concentrated the wealth and power unlike anything we've since the twenties.

Ok, I see. But what kinda new deals would affect the economy that doesn't take money out of tax payers pockets?

You talking about a new way to federally tax weed, prostitution, gambling etc?

"neoliberalism" [laughing]

Yes, we've had some real FA Hayeks in charge of our fiscal policy. What with the bank bailouts, wars, and massive entitlement expansions. Hallmarks of neo-liberals everywhere

Russia was Socialism? Russia was complete tyranny. And a generation backing it means nothing in this country. They have zero influence on policy. If you can point to a generation of billionaires backing it then I might believe you. Sanders getting elected will change nothing. He will be completely isolated or controlled by the realpolicy makers in this country. A real revolution won't happen at a bought election every four years.

Actually think marijuana becomes a huge sticking point over the next 5 years.

There are none. Itll be complete "income distribution" that will basically be socialism. Its ridiculous he even contested this point. That's why I basically ignored him the first time around. Anyone not willing to admit Sanders will want socialist policies is just being willfully ignorant, or dishonest, or both.

For 6 months after the overthrow of the Czar, the Mensheviks were in charge (think Bernie Sanders). They wanted a social democracy. Then the Bolsheviks took over. Both groups were socialists and followers of Karl Marx. The Bolsheviks brought you Lenin, Trotsky, and then later, Stalin.

Well that explains Sanders $18 trillion in new spending.

Bernie apparently thinks billions of dollars are hidden in off shore accounts and plans on offering a 1 time tax incentive to get that money back in the states. He thinks the money generated will pay for a lot of what he wants to do.

He also has a lot of other creative ideas that he thinks will work.

I guess maybe it could, but I seriously doubt any of his new tax revenue generating ideas work.

If you truly wanted to be elected I think going after contress and senate terms would assure that for you. Of course it would cause some downright nasty enemies too but you could gain thousands of not millions of votes just based on that alone.

You guys see Sanders as Lenin. I see Sanders as a new deal democrat. It's a similar platform that FDR ran on. It doesn't matter because he is not going to get elected.

So basically he wants to punish companies who hide their money overseas and give it to poor Americans?

I know about the Bolsheviks. I just don't see that happening here ever. Too much money being made.

Chomsky cites Reagan as the uber-neoliberal. While he certainly had some neoliberal tendencies, no one with any brain power would confuse him for FA Hayek or Milton Friendman. He was a politician who liked certain aspects of the free market, but was not a true student or practitioner. He made decisions for political expediency, his own lack of knowledge, and the fact that he disagreed with neoliberals on certain issues.

Reagan was a neoliberal the same way Bernie is a socialist. They pay tribute to certain tent poles of the respective ideologies, but are more populists than anything.

[laughing] a true neoliberal is who Chomsky says is one. k.

"Hitler was UL fan! Sure, he never mentioned being one, but he fits the arbitrary description of a UL fan that I just made up for the sole purpose of demonizing UL fans!"

Last night he said he was going to gather the best negotiators in the World to make sure Germany, Japan, South Korea, etc. pay their fare share for all that we do for them. I inferred that he was talking about our military support. (Kind of like the mafia asking local business owners for protection money. ) And then he walked off the stage.

Reminds me of this scene in The Campaign where Will Ferrell's character is asked how they're going to bring jobs back to North Carolina. (Fast forward to 39 second mark.)

Think that went over your head.

More on the coin flips of the Dem Iowa race....I knew she won several, had no idea she went 6 for 6! The statistic possibility of winning 6 straight coin flips is gotta be in the trillions. Yeah I double down on my call from this morning, her side slipped in some funny silver for that action.

New Deal?....goodness, the branding never stops.

Lost in all the dreaminess of what govt needs to be doing is the cold reality of what govt is capable of doing.

BTW, Bin Laden was huge Chomsky fan. Praised and quoted him all the time. His compound had several of his books. Who said the below, Chomsky or daboss? lol

The second is to do away with the American democratic system of government. "It has now become clear to you and the entire world the impotence of the democratic system and how it plays with the interests of the peoples and their blood by sacrificing soldiers and populations to achieve the interests of the major corporations."

I like Trump because he's entertaining and not a corporate puppet. However, he has to pretend to be things that he isn't to appease the Christian vote, which we're too hung up on now. And when I think of Trump pretending to be Christian, I think of this scene.
