If you recall, when Arizona tried to enforce strict immigration laws of their own, the left cried that it was a federal issue. and that Arizona should obey federal law on the matter.
The reason for that is because Arizona's laws were more strict than the federal laws. See how that works? It's only a state's right if the laws are way lax/nonexistent, but if the are strict, federal law should be must be obeyed instead.
