It's not about putting Congress on something - it's about taking away the extra benefits the gov is good giving members of congress...helping pay the premiums etc. The administration can take these bens away, but it has to be signed off by the director of the OPM, who right now is an Obama holdover. Trumps guy would have to get confirmed and then the process could play out.

Well that would defeat the purpose of books 4,5,6 and 7 now wouldn't it? That would have cost her millions, if not hundreds of millions, of dollars. I'd say killing the bad wizards in the 3rd book would've been awful writing.

Sounds to me that the best way to avoid what appears to be an obvious plot hole would have been to avoid the time travel thing in the first place- then she gets to continue making millions without the plot hole. On the other hand, I've never read Rowling, so, in the future, I'll stick to ridiculing her idiotic views on American politics, and giving her my best regards and laughs when her countrymen gave her and others of her ilk the big fat one last June, and I'll back off of commenting on YA books that I haven't read, and will never read. Besides, even real fantasy authors like Martin, Bakker, and Abercrombie occasionally have some things in their books that don't always make perfect sense.
In the 3rd book it explains why they couldn't just kill the dark wizards before everything went bad again. It's somewhat complicated and I think the book would be better off without it, but essentially they couldn't go back in time to stop the dark wizards because of the domino effect it'd have on everything else. Apparently bad things happened to wizards who tried to meddle in time travel. Again, not my favorite part of the series, but Rowling is a great writer, but horrific on political issues.
The scary thing is... there probably are a bunch of batshit crazy millennials that do want her to run. I mean hell, they just got a fricken socialist the (real)nomination.

I'm not inclined to believe another anonymously sourced story about Russia. Second, the topic, the actual topic, of the meeting was adoption. That's a fact. Sure, a different topic was proposed before the meeting, but the meeting was not about the proposed topic. I'm really tired of the media's misleading crap on that fact.
