Seriously why can't Carson just say characters/situations in his book were manufactured as symbolism of his struggle? Exactly what Obama did in both books.

Hilarious. How do these people do it? Did he think fabricating a story like that was going to sell more books? Is it just pure ego?

As qwesley mentioned, the left is immune to repercussions in situations like this....but this could be a death knell for this campaign.

Ben Carson should be a spokesperson for Sleepy Time tea.
To no one's surprise.

In 2011 he said "we can't drill our way to lower gas prices". Since then the private sector did just that forcing OPEC to increase supply and lower the cost of crude. He has now proceeded to take credit for what that lower cost of energy has done for our economy.
So a President has nothing to do with the price of gas? Good to know

How could the private sector been able to drill so much oil when he was waging war on them? I'm just really confused.

When GOP leaders have mentioned changes they have been accused of wanting granny pushed over a cliff by people like you.

Uhh, yeah

You are one special dumbass. One has to go out of their way to be as uninformed as you. Instead of linking you info that you would ignore anyway I will give you some news to cheer you up. The Richmond cop, errr pig, that was shot in the head earlier this week died last night.

I want to make sure I understand this Carson fib. Here's what I just read at USAToday:

“The academy has occupied a central place in Carson’s tale for years. According to a story told in Carson’s book, ‘Gifted Hands,’ the then-17 year old was introduced in 1969 to Gen. William Westmoreland, who had just ended his command of U.S. forces in Vietnam, and the two dined together. That meeting, according to Carson’s telling, was followed by a ‘full scholarship’ to the military academy.” In an email to Politico, Carson campaign manager Barry Bennett said Carson met Westmoreland at a banquet and had a brief conversation about Carson’s ROTC performance. Bennett’s email said Carson was introduced to West Point officials, who told him they could help him get an appointment, but he ultimately decided not to apply."

So, he said he dined with Westmoreland, who offered him a full ride - when in fact they didn't eat, they only met, and Carson rejected offers to help him get in to the school. Meh.

That will hurt. 3 thoughts:

1. Obama said 15 times publicly he'd never send troops to Syria. I know that lie isn't nearly as important as what college Ben Carson applied to in 1969. Still.
2. Obama said 36 times "if you like your plan, you can keep your plan". I know that lie isn't nearly as serious as what college Ben Carson applied to in 1969. Still.
3. I don't recall CNN or anyone else doing such vigorous frisking of Dreams From My Father. Or maybe I just missed it....

If only he wasn't an Uncle Ben and thus unable to play the race card. So many ways he could spin that story and the challenges and shame of being denied. If only...

It is quite a double standard. Ben lied and he will be forced out. Hillary has lied and lied about the Benghazi affair and her mishandling of government top secret communications and the left could care less. In fact, Ben's lie didn't break the law whereas Hillary's most likely has.

Aww did I roast you with that video hypocrite? I guess you can't refute how your side does the same crap so instead resort to namecalling.

Ben and Republicans are like UL fans, just mad they got caught so instead try to blame someone else.

Yes, Obama got off easy. I mean Republicans only accused him of lying about being a US citizen and a Christian...no biggie. Meanwhile Republicans are indignant that the media asks about a West point scholarship or middle school friends.

I now see why Carson was sooo upset at CNN for them trying to vet him. When you know you're about to be caught lying, you can't help but get mad and try to divert attention or use the lamestream media tactic to paint the media as 'out to get you'. Everytime a Republican is about to get found out, they and their ilk attack the media.

I don't believe I've ever seen a cogent point or argument offered by CatDaddy through the existence of his account, and that is not limited to the political thread.

oh, you got me good catdaddy, you are a rascal. I think, at least. That was one garbled pile of shit. Not sure what was "caught".

We are talking about media and vetting, funny you should try to use a UL analogy when that is town whose media is as controlled as DCs.

Remember that time you said you "hate both sides"? Again, you are a rascal.

75+% chance he is the former cardkilla and funkyfatcan. That level of retard is distinctive.

i don't and never will understand double identities, someone posting under more than one name. I don't even understand trolling. the amount of effort required exhausts me.

clearly, I am missing the boat.

*Not accurate* in Politico story:

-Carson claimed to have applied to West Point.
-Campaign admitted Carson fabricated history.

Per Dylan Byers of CNN and formerly of Politico

One thing's for sure. Somebody really wants Carson out of this race, whether these stories regarding Carson's past are accurate or not.

I don't think it's impossible but nobody has the stomach for the cuts and/or extra $$ that needs to come from somewhere else.

The Millenial generation dwarfs the boomers in size so there are obviously ways to fix the coming crisis. They will be half of the work force by 2020. But nobody has the balls to do anything until it's a full blown crisis and then it's more kicking the can down the road.

Move the tax from 6.2 to 7.2%, get rid of the cap on taxing earnings, decrease the cost of living adjustment and up the retirement age, boom fixed. If people had the choice of this or no social security, I think they'd get on board. And it leaves off means testing, which is the most politically challenging fix as everyone is pretty much opposed to that.
Why do we need to do that? Because, the government keeps stealing from the pot set up for social security. A better fix? Quit spending money on entitlements, over priced military equipment, global warming farce, etc....

It's actually about 93 Million and it's based on people 16 years of age or older. If you subtract people over 65 and likely retired thats 46 Million, then if you look at the number of full time students that's another 20 Million you need to subtract. That leaves about 27 Million many of who are disabled.

So yes it's still a big number but that number is likely to rise no matter who we elect as president based on the vast number of unskilled and semiskilled jobs being replaced with technology. There is a thread on the main board that talks about that trend in detail. A recent Wall Street Journal article stated that in the next 15 years or so nearly 50% of all jobs will be eliminated.
Obama math here folks.

Tell me lefties, what about this ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^can you explain why Hillary is not being attacked by the left for all of her lies. I am betting crickets on this one unless Deeee chimes in with his normal top spin for his hero's.

Yea but ya'll know us Dems are a bunch of godless heathens, while Carson is the darling of the bible thumpers. He's held to a much higher standard. :D
OOOPS! Here it comes, Wait for it.....more to come from Deee. But, But, But, he's a centrist and takes no sides.

No actually, you can't.

But before I draw a line in the same, I want to make sure I understand you. Are you saying, for example, that the Bible can't be taken literally at every instance? That there are differing interpretations of what a given thing in the Bible means? If that is what you are saying, yeah, agreed, common sense.

If, instead, you are saying you are free to pick and choose which parts of the Bible you believe, accepting some things and rejecting others according to your own discretion and judgment - then yes, certainly, anyone can determine for themselves what they think. But if you do that, you're not a Christian. Words have meanings, etc. etc.....

The media wants him out. He is a black man, they can't go after him too hard, so they try these little needle pricks to protect Hilary.

Here's that damn liberal media at it again. This time, it's the wall street journal. We all know how they're always trying to push their socialist agenda onto the nation. Redistribution of wealth, attacking the rich and exceptional. That's all the wall street journal does. Obviously this is just a liberal campaign to knock down a fine upstanding leader.

In his 1990 autobiography, “Gifted Hands,” Mr. Carson writes of a Yale psychology professor who told Mr. Carson, then a junior, and the other students in the class—identified by Mr. Carson as Perceptions 301—that their final exam papers had “inadvertently burned,” requiring all 150 students to retake it. The new exam, Mr. Carson recalled in the book, was much tougher. All the students but Mr. Carson walked out.

“The professor came toward me. With her was a photographer for the Yale Daily News who paused and snapped my picture,” Mr. Carson wrote. “ ‘A hoax,’ the teacher said. ‘We wanted to see who was the most honest student in the class.’ ” Mr. Carson wrote that the professor handed him a $10 bill.

No photo identifying Mr. Carson as a student ever ran, according to the Yale Daily News archives, and no stories from that era mention a class called Perceptions 301. Yale Librarian Claryn Spies said Friday there was no psychology course by that name or class number during any of Mr. Carson’s years at Yale
.

This story is so stupid, there is no way it's true. This is more representative of the people who believe it than this psychopath who told it. Antibody who would believe this story is just a couple decisions away from moving to Guyana and drinking cyanide.

Sure Carson deserves some scrutiny....just not from Obama knob slobberers like Saguro and deee.

Pretty simple.

Icymi, the Dem moderator last night was Rachel Maddow.

But here's the difference: we Repubs will gladly withdraw our support if he's found to be lying. Dishonesty SHOULD prevent someone from holding the highest office.

Dems, however, don't care about dishonesty if it benefits the Dem ticket and agenda.

See: Hillary Clinton vs Ben Carson

Both sides get scrutiny and both sides complain about it and swear the other side is treated with kid gloves. Obama was scrutinized closely over his relationship with Jeremiah Wright, The NYT and CNN both scrutinized his association with Bill Ayers. Much was made of his upbringing and his religious beliefs. Campaigning for public office is tough and you have to be prepared to answer for your past.

:scream: What, a liberal does not think there is liberal bias!?!

Duke fans think they never get good calls.

Fyi, the media sat on the Rev Wright story a long time, he had the nomination pretty much sewn up when it finally came out. This whole le argument is stupid to the point of being offensive.
