President Barack Obama on Wednesday laid out a series of compromises he's willing to make to get a health care overhaul through a nervous Congress.

Laying out a series compromises doesn't = allowing them to review/read the entire bill. Nice try, though. The Republicans were 100% opposed because they never had the chance to actually read what was in the bill. No one had a clue what Obamacare even was. Only a moron would vote for that. Reminds me of the morons who sign contracts without reading the entire thing.
Dumbass, the bill had not been written at that point. They wanted bi-partisan co-operation in writing the bill. None was forthcoming therefore the bill was written without them.

You're making my point Willy.

Not really, but let's pay for this guy's health insurance

The Democratic leadership, fearful that momentum for Obamacare was fading as it continued to poll poorly, decided to rush a bill through the Senate before Christmas 2009. To meet the self-imposed Christmas deadline, Reid provided only six days for debate [on the final version of the bill].

Few people, including Senators and their staffs, had time to read the whole 2,700 page bill, much less note any possible weaknesses, flaws, or ambiguities. Everyone thought there would be plenty of opportunities to make changes.

But a major impediment arose soon after the Senate bill passed. Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy had died that past summer, and the January special election to replace him was won by Republican Scott Brown, who ran as a strong opponent of Obamacare. This deprived the Democrats of their filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, and meant that the Senate would not be able to pass a revised bill. The only way to pass Obamacare at this point was to have the House vote on identical legislation to the Senate bill, while engaging in legally dubious procedural maneuvering. And that’s what the Democrats did.

Congress ultimately passed a Senate bill that nobody wanted, and, indeed, that likely no one had read in its entirety when the Senate passed it, and that certainly no one fully understood. Senator Max Baucus, one of Obamacare’s chief architects, not only acknowledged not reading the bill, but opined that it would have been a “waste of time” to do so, because only experts could understand it….

Obama and Congressional Democrats therefore assumed that any snafus that arose because Obamacare consisted of a hastily-drafted Senate bill never meant to become law could be easily fixed by Congress.

We already pay for those folks.

It won't be these people who are 600+ lbs and on disability and Medicaid that will be hurt. The people who will be hurt are the working poor who make more than the poverty level of income but unable to afford insurance.

Why are we still debating this? We know the history. Rammed through on Christmas Eve. Let him debate with his 5 accounts and his trillion dollar bet debts.

According to @rqarnold the Republicans wanted nothing to do with the bill, so then why would the Democrats have to hide from them and write the bill in secret? How does that make sense? Please explain.

Same argument fuzz tried to use, coincidence? He even glossed over the same thing in his argument. Most employers, even those dead end jobs only hiring part time, offer health benefits. So if one is working, then there's a very good chance they will not being paying for insurance out of pocket.

It appears to me the employer mandate and the individual mandate will remain the law of the land. F^^^in pathetic

Repubs should have done nothing, let Obama Care die on its on, then blame the Dems for the disaster, then write another health care bill and dare the Dems to not vote for it. These Repubs in Congress are dumber than dirt.

Drain the Swamp. GOP traitors need to go. Why is Wisconsin so damn dirty? The CIA floods our country with opioids and now we get a bill to replace the addicts with cheap labor.

Two GOP Legislators Propose American Replacement Bill, Plus Amnesty

Two GOP legislators are introducing legislation to let states annually import 500,000 foreign blue-collar workers and white-collar professionals to replace Americans who have fallen out of the workforce and into drug addiction.

The American replacement bill is needed because companies can’t hire the employees they want amid the massive decline in the number of Americans who are seeking work, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson told an event hosted Wednesday by the CATO Institute.

In his Wednesday statement, Johnson spoke at length about the “new plague [of opioid addiction] in our country,” and quoted from an article describing the huge extent of worker drop out amid the post-2008 combination punch of recession and mass-immigration.

Wholeheartedly agree. The Republicans bailed out the Democrats. Should have let Obamacare self implode. Stupid. Really stupid.

rgarnold and Fuzz are the typical lemmings who only listen to what MSNBC and the other socialist stations tell them.

How the Republican bill would change Obamacare

The GOP's bill would get rid of the Obamacare requirement that people have health coverage or face a tax penalty. It would also eliminate the mandate that employers with at least 50 employees provide health insurance to their workers.

Under Obamacare, these companies had to provide affordable insurance to staffers who work more than 30 hours a week. They would face a penalty if they did not meet this criteria and their employee sought subsidies on the exchanges.

Praise Jesus. Obamacare put a HUGE administrative burden on employers that most folks are oblivious to. Reversing the Employer Mandate is a Godsend

True story. Seriously.

The Boston Uber driver charged with raping a passenger was an illegal immigrant, once deported before. ICE put a detainer on him and worked with the Boston DA, setting up a $100,000 bond and ankle monitor just in case he made bail because they knew he was a flight risk.

When arraigned the judge ignored the ICE detainer and struck down the DA's high bond request and ankle monitor, setting only a $2,500 bond and allowing him to be released from custody.

The judge even went out of her way to allow him to have someone come down and pay his bond immediately so he didn't have to return to jail and take the chance of being picked up by ICE. Now he's skipped town and is on the run.

The same could have been said about Obamacare. There were olive branches extended to get GOP support, concessions offered but the GOP took the hardline approach that they were going to vote lock step against it. When that became apparent the Democrats said FU and wrote the bill.

Obamacare will fail, Trumpcare will fail...all for the same reasons...but the noose is now around the GOP's neck assuming the new bill gets through the senate.
The smart thing to have done would have to say that you're trying to fix Obamacare and kept it as a "Democratic" program. Now when Trumpcare fails...you can't blame anyone else.
Amazing how this post somehow got someone to give it a thumbs up.

Isn't he due back in court in June? Is he allowed to leave the state?

Couldn't find anything more than the 2,500 bond, which IMO is way too low.

Edit: Found it. Not good and not good that most sources aren't reporting whole story.

He was due back, yes. No, he's not allowed to leave the state. He's on the run. He's an illegal going by a fake name. Only a fool would think he was actually going to stick around for his court date and face rape charges and deportation.

And of course you couldn't find anything on it. You honestly believe the MSM is going to report on a story like this? If it's negative news, especially such as this, that goes against the liberal agenda, most of the time you have to look local or on conservative sites.

http://www.bostonherald.com/news/local_coverage/2017/04/tape_reveals_judge_quick_with_low_bail

A state judge freed a previously deported Uber driver accused of rape on light bail even after a prosecutor insisted that federal immigration agents were drafting a detainer and asked for high bond to hold him, according to a court recording obtained by the Herald.

The stunning tape of Tuesday’s hearing reveals Newton District Court Judge Mary Beth Heffernan cutting the arguments short before a defense attorney could even counter the prosecution’s $100,000 bail and GPS-monitoring demand, interjecting, “Twenty-five hundred dollars cash.”

Luis Baez — now being sought by immigration authorities who tell the Herald he’s dropped out of sight — is accused of raping an inebriated Boston College student who had hailed his Uber car Sept. 29. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said they made attempts to find Baez, but have been unsuccessful.

Middlesex Assistant District Attorney Raquel Frisardi told the judge Baez took the student to a parking lot and other sites and raped her three times even as she was vomiting and fighting back. He then dropped her at Boston College, where she reported she had been raped.

Police tracked Baez through the Uber app data. They determined with the help of Boston gang cops, who recognized his picture, that he had been using a false name — Pedro Valentin — on his Uber account.

The prosecutor told Heffernan that Baez was “somebody known to the Boston police gang unit as having previous involvement in the Mozart Street Gang, someone who had been previously prosecuted and in fact previously deported,” according to a court recording of the 17-minute arraignment Tuesday afternoon.

Heffernan, a Gov. Deval Patrick appointee and former public safety secretary in his administration, pressed for more information about the prior deportation, and Frisardi, the prosecutor, told her federal authorities had confirmed Baez’s immigration history and status.

“I’m informed they will be seeking a detainer against him as well,” Frisardi told the judge, asking Heffernan for $100,000 bail, GPS monitoring, house arrest and an order for Baez to stay away from the victim and witnesses.

Frisardi added that Baez had resisted “for many hours” being booked by Newton police when he was arrested on the three rape charges.

Heffernan abruptly set the bail at $2,500, set a follow-on court date for June 21 and asked, “Is he going to make the bail today?”

Someone in the courtroom called out, “Yes.”

“Can you take bail downstairs?” Heffernan asked a court employee. “Sometimes they won’t, they make them go back out to the House of Correction at 4 o’clock.”

Baez posted bail before immigration agents could file a detainer request to have him held. ICE officials have said they fear Baez is in the wind and they have not been able to find him since he was bailed out.

Circa journalist, John Solomon, the one he's been on top of the surveillance/unmasking story from the start, is now claiming that his investigation might have started with Trump’s twitter claim and Susan Rice, but his digging deeper and deeper has now led him down a path where he's finding/receiving information about the intelligence agencies being used to target, surveil, unmask other Obama critics.

No great surprise here. Obama and his Chicago Mafia has corrupted every branch of the government.

Let's all take a step back and marvel at the time we are living in.

Things got so haywire that a reality TV star was elected president. The people that elected him don't like the rest of his own party. What a cluster. Should be a fun 4-8 years.

Well it's time to take this country back. As many have already said Trump was just a big middle finger to Washington.

Honestly if Trump drew a red line (haha) down the middle of the country and let left and right choose which state they wanted to be in I'd be fine.

I like Lexington. I've been here for 20 years and have many close friends who voted for Trump. I've gotten a feel, via this board, why he was elected.

That being said, I still don't see my life changing much in the foreseeable future. Maybe that's selfish, maybe that's not even a liberal attitude coming from someone who would call himself left of center - but that's my take on things. I do hope that anyone looking for something that they haven't been able to provide themselves finds it under Trump. For me, things have been remarkably stable regardless of who has held the White House or congress.
