I'm a Pat Buchanan Republican and Trump is the closest thing we've ever had to that. And the mask comes off.
This guy's been pretending for months and now he shows his true self.
Total idiot lefty TDS NeverTrumper.
Once again, that is such a simpleton way of looking at things. Depends upon the commodity, of course. But if the tariff is enough, then companies will flee manufacturing in cheap ass China and bring the plants back to the US, or favorable countries to the US. It CAN help the US and hurt China at the same time, what is not to like about that?!?!? Would you rather continue to enrich China and make US workers pay?? They are not playing a game, they are playing long-term to win. This was posted on Yahoo Finance this evening: If these tariffs are put in place, it will stress the economy, it seems to me, but I do not pretend to understand them. Will the affected countries place tariffs on what we export to them ??
Tariffs funded this country until 1913 when the government effed over the universe by passing the income tax. Tariffs increase wages which offset price increases, and bring jobs back to our shores.Concern troll back for some more BS.
Go away. I can’t wait till we tariff the hell out of everyone. Save the fake outcries for your leftist comrades. We don’t care about your concerns in this thread. Get bent
I know tariffs exist and always have. As I stated, I do not understand them. Will these tariffs be bad, good, or neutral, on the economy ?? That is my question. I do not know enough about tariffs to be or “get bent.” What do you think ??Concern troll back for some more BS.

Honest question: aren't you like 70ish? Maybe I'm confusing you for another "moderate" leftie, IDK nor do I care. But if that is true, and you don't understand tariffs, and you're going to come to a pithy political thread to get an education? Most of the right posters are pretty awesome, but you're not going to leave this board with an advanced macroeconomic degree. You need Celine for that...Econ Dion we calls him...an self-appointed expert in EVERYTHING.I know tariffs exist and always have. As I stated, I do not understand them. Yes. I’m 72 I consider myself a centrist independent. I saw the discussion about SS and it appeared that there was civil discussion about it and good exchanges of thoughts. I was surfing Yahoo Finance to review various stocks I own, saw the recent headline, wondered how the proposed tariffs would affect the economy and thought folks here might share thoughts. Some have, which is appreciated. Time will tell how the economy is affected. There are pros and cons to tariffs. No surprise there …Honest question: aren't you like 70ish? And every Republican Senator will confirm.
Trey Gowdy was on the other day saying he thought Trump should pardon Hunter because Biden has already lost one son and for an old man to worry about Hunter in his senior years is just not right. My reply to Gowdy would be, f**k Biden AND Hunter, I have zero empathy for the criminal things they have done, and they never not once worried about the American people.
Trump needs to pull that pick NOW.
If you got it wrong during Covid, you don't get to be in charge this time.
Period.

How does the open border affect poverty? You are just promoting radicalization. I don’t think it is lazy at all the stay level headed during times of divide like today. I don’t think getting strung up about every headline is healthy or productive. Choose something to care about (for me it is poverty) and really try to educate and act in a way that helps alleviate the stress of that problem.
There's more to this as well.American tariff's are charges for certain or all portions of the global economy outside of America to sell stuff to America. You make money by producing stuff, not buying stuff. The key behind tariff's is to make it profitable to produce stuff in America and sell the stuff to others.
Keep in mind, America put China in business with U.S. taxpayer dollars. (Not money from the U.S. "government".) America funded China to what it is today and STILL provides untold hundred's of billions of dollars to China to this day from American tax payers. (Hint, hint SS general fund dollars.)
Without American tax-payer dollars China would be a third world country barely able to feed itself to this day. That is what it was before American tax payers funded China.
That is why President Trump touts tariff's. It makes manufacturers and businesses produce in America which provides livings to American's.
In a nutshell... tariffs will be terrific for America and Americans. America will grow leaps and bounds...
What will happen though is there will be areas that will lose badly for a while. That is called thinking and working strategically versus tactically. President Trump is working strategically and America needs that strategic thinking and planning back badly.
This is what the Democrats do. They are obsessed with power. And sex. And they are delighted to drag anyone through the mud in order to discredit that person so they can get their power. And if they can't get their power then they get very vindictive and they want to destroy you. They are the worst people in the history of this country.
Biden tried to jail, then assassinate Trump.Oh HHHHHHhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeLLLLLLLLLLLLLlllllllllllllllllllllllll NO.
What's a Trey Gowdy??? Joe Biden has been a scum of the earth since he's be known. At least his current son is trying to keep up that reputation. (No doubt from anyone that's seen a second of him.)
Joe doesn't know he's in the world most days now unless he is pumped full of medicines.
No pity for any of that ilk... I do not wish them bad but darned if I wish them well. I just wish them true justice. That will take care of it...
Tariffs can be a bludgeon to extract more favorable trade terms. That is the one weapon we still have- the ability to consume. Pelosi absolutely deserves to be raided and imprisoned with her husband. They are criminals with obvious money laundering and I have zerooooo doubt of her involvement in the Capitol hoax and knowledge of the attempted murder of Trump.
We definitely need a strong manufacturing base. So many of those jobs are gone. Everyone can't work for the government or fast food and we need to incentivise work, not living off others.American tariff's are charges for certain or all portions of the global economy outside of America to sell stuff to America. What pisses me off is that they take money from great movies like Deadpool and Wolverine and use it for DEI projects instead of reinvesting into what made them over a billion dollars. Really hoping Iger is fired sooner rather that later.
If you all want a good laugh... Disney has spent over $400 million and reshot this movie 3 times and it's apparently so bad in focus groups that Disney is hiding the trailer... LOL
They need over $1billion to break even on this movie. LOL. Just a week ago the stock surged after Iger "lied" about their economic situation... I wonder what Disney stock will look like in the spring? $115 today.... Tick Tock.

Besides, at least Trump is TRYING to put us back on a more fair trade landscape. More than can be said for the uniparty bastards that have sold us out since NAFTA. I can’t see why people want to endorse the status quo. Things have to change asap.
There was. It wasn't explained well enough to convince those who are scared of chamge. They couldn't make them understand that the SS fund is being squandered or that the ROI with having a choice in how to invest your own money would be better and more lucrative.Wasn't there an attempt to privatize SS under W? It went over like a fart in church at the time, even though they were shown how responsibly invested money would yield far more in returns than SS ever would.
