Reading some articles about how Polymarket odds are being driven up by a few big bettors. I'm sure this is left-wing media spin.. But how much do we really trust their info?

An election betting site, doesn't exactly instill confidence in me of being fully accurate. While I do tend to agree with the notion of "follow what Vegas is saying".. I'm also skeptical that someone or some GROUP isn't tampering with this system somehow.

Yeah Vegas had Trump at like 99% win at like 8pm on election night in 2020.

But…then the unmarked vans with 100 thousands of ballots showed up in the middle of the night.

Mitch couldn't have said it better:

"Ronald Reagan knew what makes a nation prosperous. “Free trade serves the cause of economic progress, and it serves the cause of world peace,” he said in a 1982 radio address. That sentiment was in line with years of conservative policy. The Republican Party had long stood for free markets and free trade, principles that helped cement America as the world’s economic superpower.

Sadly, many in my own party seem to have forgotten these lessons. A populist faction insists on imposing more and higher tariffs that would raise the prices of everyday goods and services as well as destroy the commercial incentive for nations to live in peace.

Such advocates claim that tariffs protect American workers from foreign competition. In practice, they hurt the workers they purport to help. Consider Chinese-made electronics. When tariffs are imposed on products like smartphones and laptops, as Donald Trump is proposing to do, American consumers end up paying higher prices. A report from the Consumer Technology Association projects that Mr. Trump’s proposed tariffs could raise technology prices for U.S. consumers by as much as 21%. China accounts for more than 90% of U.S. laptop and tablet imports. Its manufacturers won’t bear the brunt of these tariffs—American consumers will, as the levy will be passed on to them in the form of higher prices.

This is basic economics at work. When we place a tariff on a foreign product, we artificially inflate its price and allow domestic producers to raise their own."

"Tariffs also reduce consumer choice and stifle innovation. When two parties voluntarily exchange goods and services, both sides benefit. When people prosper, their communities do too. This principle holds true at the national and international levels. Free trade has fueled the American economy by opening new markets, reducing prices, and increasing innovation.

Some protectionists claim that imports are a drag on our economy. That is misguided. We don’t consider someone’s ability to consume more a sign of poverty; the same is true of a nation. Rising imports often coincide with stronger economic growth. Trade allows the U.S. to specialize in high-skill industries and benefit from cheaper imported goods, leading to a more efficient and prosperous economy."

Free trade also promotes peace by creating mutual dependencies. As the 19th-century French economist Frédéric Bastiat observed, “If goods don’t cross borders, soldiers will.” Economically connected nations have more to gain from cooperation. The alternative—protectionist policies and sanctions—often backfires, uniting such adversaries as Russia, China and Iran. History proves that diplomacy and free trade are more effective for peace and prosperity than tariffs and sanctions.

The choice is clear: We can embrace the principles that have made America the world’s largest economy, or we can retreat into the failed policies of protectionism."

On this we agree:

The Republican Party had long stood for free markets and free trade, principles that helped cement America as the world’s economic superpower.

The part you must ignore, there are almost no open and free markets for our goods. Why should we not protect OUR workers and the goods they produce? When the markets are FREE then we can drop tariffs.

Really damning recently leaked emails from a year ago in Colorado. Glad the councilwoman decided to make them public the first quote is incredible 'as soon as this group kills an innocent person all hell is going to break loose'.

“…As soon as this group KILLS AN INNOCENT PERSON all HELL is going to break loose and I would hate for us all to be EXPOSED for not sharing information with each other….

"ICE notifies the @AuroraPD that "TdA has decided to make Denver their headquarters due to sanctuary policies and location."

"that officers were advised to respond in numbers and with an armored vehicle to Whispering Pines. A report was made that "these guys" have over 200 people working for them."

Yes. Something maga has to understand is you don't have to blindly agree with everything.

Dan bongino went in about this on his podcast a few weeks ago. He's against the tariffs, doesn't make you democrat all of a sudden

The "thing" and issue IS and HAS been. When U.S. citizen TAX dollars...starts (China) (Mexico) and props up (In an on-going manner) an economy and then again IN an on-going manner such as China, Russia, Europe, and Mexico at large...

And THEN gets "their" products back and is charged top dollar again for them where is the equity? (give them our dough, help them, then they stick it to us again?)

Yeah I am for a 200% tariff on ANY of the crap made and sold back to the United States. No one EVER mentions that part of the equation.

All of the above countries and more that I mentioned would be desolate areas now (In hunger, poverty, and despair) if not for the American "tax-payer"!

Just amazes me how NO politician EVER mentions where the dough comes from in the first place... All those countries just "Made it on their own"...NOT

Gascon set to rule on the Menedez brothers at 4:30 EST. If its was any other DA, I'd say no way they get out since they killed their mom as well (took them out of her will right before murders) but since it's Gascon, they probably walk.

But like a true idiot liberal, Trudeau doesn't admit his policies were wrong...says it's a temporary pause. Like that Trump jumped on it.

(the 'India is on suicide watch' in the comments made me laugh)

With the hundreds of millions (billion +?) the Dem/libs (both legit and 'dark money') have for this election, and several before this one....it wouldn't surprise me that the 'big bettors' are Dem/libs distorting the numbers.

Reminds me of when I lived in Atlanta...we rented a house for a year while ours was being built. Rented it from an Indian. He had moved to the U.S. via Canada via India. His 'dream' ...which he accomplished...was to own a motel. Bought one in Vidalia, GA. Anyway I remember him telling me that he moved from India to Canada because it was so easy to get into Canada...unlike the U.S. (at that time). Then after you live in Canada for a year or so....you could basically just walk into the U.S.. He always said (and I get it confused...been a lot of years) that it was the 'legal illegal way to get into the U.S'...or the 'illegal legal way'.

Since then I've talked to a few others that did the same thing.

Ot i can stop crying about other countries and say did tariffs make prices go down bc foreign countries still wanted to get into a lucrative American market.

No they didn't.

Did small businesses and farmers have reduced prices bc they needed to turn to use domestic products.

No they didn't.

Did we also have an adverse affect on our inputs because we sell less to abroad markets because we are buying less from them...yes

Did consumer prices go up- yes

It won't bring jobs back on large scale either as it costs more to create jobs anyway then what it does to pay them.

You can have an issue with something but tarriffs aren't an answer. I get it, bc we are talking about real ppl out there, protectionism can be popular, but none competitive industries are non competitive for a reason.

So support higher prices & inflation. Go for it.

There are a couple of Locksmiths who specialize in safes and can likely move them for you. A building we use to own had a huge vault door, like you see in the movies. I suppose it was built over 100 years ago and must have been a bank. Anyway, they can probably figure out the combination and do all of that. Sometimes they have to drill them out a ruin them...at least that is how it works on Storage Wars.
A door like that I would have incorporated into the design.

I give you quotes from Warren Buffett to address your musings.

In a 2011 op-ed in the New York Times, Warren Buffett wrote, “Last year my federal tax bill — the income tax I paid, as well as payroll taxes paid by me and on my behalf — was $6,938,744. That sounds like a lot of money. But what I paid was only 17.4% of my taxable income — and that’s actually a lower percentage than was paid by any of the other 20 people in our office. My friends and I have been coddled long enough by a billionaire-friendly Congress. It’s time for our government to get serious about shared sacrifice. The [Forbes] 400 of us pay a lower part of our income in taxes than our receptionists do, or our cleaning ladies, for that matter. If you’re in the luckiest 1% of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99%."

Wonder what those numbers will look like now after the Trump tax plan?

Buffett pointed out that in 1982, the first year the Forbes 400 was compiled, those listed had combined net worth of $93 billion. At the time of the op-ed, the 400 had a combined net worth of $2.3 trillion, up 2,400% in 30 years, while the median household income rose only about 180% during that time. Meanwhile, the percentage of Americans living below poverty level remained at 15% over that period. “In recent decades, our country’s rising tide has not lifted the boats of the poor,” he said.
Warren Buffett changed his mind regarding endorsements over the past two election cycles.

So you agree with Trump over Rand Paul. OK.

Trump's & Biden's joint steel tariffs did next to nothing for jobs. Did cars & appliance prices go up? Sure did. Thanks, Prezes.

Speaking of bumper stickers, my neighbor has two. One is Harris for President and the other is In a democracy no one is above the law. Last presidential election he had one that said, “Hands off my environment.” He’s been a lifelong Democrat and is permanently brainwashed.
Privacy fence might solve a lot of that issue.

I mean if they are going to claim you can abort a baby after delivery then if I am ever on trial for murder I am going to use the defense that I didn't kill them I aborted them. 🤷‍♂️
Yeah, and how about being able to abort those who suck off of the government and don't work (those physically and mentally capable that is).

But, according to @Dionysus444 this was fake news. I'm paraphrasing here b/c to lazy to go look up the exact post, but it was something like:

"Right wing makes up fake news, feigns outrage at said fake news, classic".

Fair. He's argued with me for two days over the simple concept that you can't sue the head of state because the policies negatively affect you. So, perhaps I was harsh in my last comment. But, two days worth of copied headlines that are deceptive without the stories saying what the headlines say they say. I just wish people would quit getting their information from here, social media, CNN and FoxNews. If social media went away for a year, the divsion would be gone.
** Breaking GD News **

Texas sues evil Biden Administration yet again.

You are completely dismissed.

Agree on first glance. Who knows how this affects the end result.
There’s got to be a way for the Republicans to put their totals in last in swing states.
Or run a bit if a con in which the Dems think all the Republican counties are fully in, but legitimately hold a bunch back. Force their hand. See how long they want to stall. Then when they panic and go over 90% per precinct of eligible voters voting, forensic audit those. Got to be a way to trick then and stop this counting last crap. It’s not fair.

@sambowieshin remember when you and @sammysdad05 fell for propaganda that tax cuts were bad and the government knows how to spend your money better than you do and it was just a give away to millionaires and billionaires?

Straight from IRS data:

80% of all taxpayers received a tax break, with the the average tax payer receiving 1,500 dollar reduction in taxes. The largest share of the tax cuts went to the bottom 75% of earners, who saw their taxes drop by 9.3% while the top 1 percent saw a cut of .04%

If the tax cuts are not renewed at the end of 2025 taxes will rise by 400 billion.
