If you learned that the judge in a case you were working had relatives getting millions from people who wanted a guilty verdict against your client…..

that wouldn’t trouble you?
I think we've seen from the J. Thomas arguments from the left that what the public thinks creates a "conflict" is different from what is actually a legal conflict of interest that would require a judge to recuse themselves. In Florida, we elect state court judges (like in many places) and law firms host judge campaign events, make contributions, etc. We just expect judges to be able to put those issues aside and be fair and ethical under the circumstances.

That’s not what I ask you. I asked if you would be troubled by that scenario. Would you believe that it was a fair trial?

I wonder if he’d still think it wasn’t a big deal if the same judge, whose daughter is a Democrat fundraiser off of his trials, continually was selected as the judge in Trumps trials? What is this, 3rd or 4th trial of Trump that he’s presided over in NYC since 2016.

I said what I meant. African ancestry. Dark complexion. What wasn’t good enough for you?

Are your triggered by my question?

I doubt anyone thinks that Rome had a black emperor as that term, black person, is used in this country today. Rome had emperors from what we recognize as Africa, but I do not think it had emperors that would be called black, as we understand and use the word.

You claim to be the historian here. You made a comment that I think most would conclude as black, as in subcontinent African, which I think is wrong. Now, it appears you mean darker complexioned, not black.

If that is what you now mean, we would probably agree.

The first history teacher taught the class how there were no “white people” in Rome. It was just another land north of the African Empire. In 325 AD at the Council of Nigeria, Augusteen (a native Kenyan from the land of Wakanda Atlantis) euthanized Christianity as the religion to replace all the African Gods due to a dream he had where Christ descended from Ethiopia and saved all of humanity from white supremacy. True story.
