Yep, there is absolutely no collusion in the tech industry at all. None.

China says it will cease shipments of rare metals to the US if Trump doesn't back down from trade deal threats. For those of you to stupid to comprehend the wieght of that threat. We import 85% from China and they produce 75% of the world's supply and do 90% of the refining. We have only 1 mine in California that sometimes is used because it destroys the surrounding area to mine. Malaysia has been working to shut down their mine because it's destroying the surrounding ecosystem. Every piece of tech cannot be made without these minerals and oil production cannot happen without a stable supply. Probably over half of our economy relies on these minerals. And in reality all of our economy does because the other half cannot function without tech and energy. China also doesn't make this as an empty threat, they have ceased shipments to other countries to win these kind of fights.

What is your point? My joke was that MOST law students take political science and philosophy.

I am the one saying that there is no pre-law degree. Law school was easy. My undergrad was in health and education.
Most people I know that went on to law school did not major in either political science or philosophy.

Just pointing out that high inflation numbers have been high under Republicans AND Dems. Responding to the post that said Dems always bring inflation and crime. Statistically it has been just as bad or worse than it is right now under multiple Republicans.

Who was in office a decade ago? I'll hang up and listen.

Considering how poorly these students have been doing since "teachers have outsourced most of the teaching to parents" not so fast.
Homeschooled kids have done incredibly well and test better than their peers. What you’re referencing is not the same thing at all.

My first born went to three different elementary schools. The schools improved with the improvement of my socio-economic status. Class sizes got smaller, good teachers were retained more, supplies and facilities were better. And every step of the way I was an active, involved parent.

It’s a funding issue and always has been. Public Schools have a commitment to educate everyone. Regardless of socio economic status, special needs, etc. That’s how a healthy society functions. But not all schools are funded equally or treated the same. Some schools like that have saints for educators because they do more with less than anyone. They deal with issues of poverty, abuse, neglect that go well beyond education.
Tying school funding to property taxes in and always ahs been insanity. Literally punishing students for being poor.

Actually, home-schooled kids do very well academically. That said, I have a good friend who teaches 2nd grade in a public school. She said that her kids are way behind because of pandemic decisions by the School Board and she completely understands why parents moved kids to private schools.
Dedicated home schooling and what we saw in the pandemic is not the same thing.

In Louisville, property taxes form the financial base for public schools, but individual schools are not financially tied to the property tax revenue from their geographic area. I suspect that is true for all major metropolitan school districts. So, how does the tax revenue process punish poor kids?

I don't.

Either way she got what she deserved. Making fun of people and then staging a fall for laughs, or the irony of making fun of people and then fainting.

Which ever way it went, she is now making money off of it by doing interviews and getting her name out there.
I can understand your feelings. I am not saying those feelings are wrong or right. Just different than mine. :)

Still, I hate that she was hurt, whether from the vaccine or the fall, if part of her act.

I have never seen this woman before, but it does not appear that she is very good at physical comedy. I definitely would not pay to see her act, but it looks like some people do buy tickets. No accounting for taste, I guess.

To me, she seemed stiff and did not know how to fall. That was why I felt the fall was part of her act in this case.

I do see the irony in what happened. Possibly Karma?

And if she is capitalizing on her injury. Well, that is low class and shows a level of desperation on her part.

If it were me, I would own the failed attempt.

"Yeah, I tried to make a joke, and it, excuse me, I fell flat on my ass! Well, actually, my head!"

So, this woman now beleives that the shots caused her to faint on stage. If you haven't seen the video it looks kind of fake, but she suffered a serious skull fracture. Anecdotally, Bob Sagat was said to have fell and fractured his skull which caused a brain bleed. Hmmmm.

It does looks bizarre. That being said there was a cardiac episode as part of her diagnosis that led to the skull fracture from what I read. However people pass out all the time for various reasons although we are seeing a ton of these that all seem to have increased in numbers along with the you know what, which even claims potential heart/cardiac side effects in its own inserts as a possibility.

Mocking Jesus and being triple vaxxed? That’s a fire I wouldn’t play with.

Agreed. What we saw in the pandemic was the school system failing parents.
What we saw during the pandemic was a situation of schools trying to make the best of a bad situation. It's a pandemic. It's unprecedented. There is no rule book for what to do in that situation. We are lucky that things have worked out as well as they have for students. We had little understanding of the virus in the beginning. We have no idea how the virus might change and mutate. We very easily could have been looking at a situation where a variant developed that was incredibly lethal to children. What would the story be if we were looking at half a million dead children now as a direct result of them being in school?

No one could predict the future. Public policy decisions are based on the masses and not individuals. It is easy to say I told you so when things work out in your favor. It very easily could have went a different direction. Each variant we have dealt with in this country has had a greater impact on children. We may yet see a variant that significantly impacts that age group. Let's hope that never happens and we find a way back to normalcy.

When private schools opened up and public schools remained remote, the public school system failed parents by acting as science deniers. It was an unprecedented event in recent history, but that does not mean gross mistakes were and are not being made.
