The internet isn't the problem. No matter what the media is, the government will find a way to f*ck it all up. T.V., movies, radio all started as one thing and ended as another. Even the basic paper press fell victim to the same old manipulations.
The best you can do is inform people of alternative search engines and alt ways of gaining information.

True to an extent. But the internet had made suppressing information or especially altering information 1,000 times easier.
In the past once you sent out the news paper or printed the text book that information was out. Now you just have to edit the article from 4 years ago and put a “edited insert date” in the bottom corner that no one will ever see.
Not to mention the internet (social media) gives everyone a platform, making everyone feel more emboldened and sure of what they think or believe. (Well it used to, now they just ban whomever they don’t like for misinformation or hate speech).
I do agree about the search engines though. That’s all you can do now.
