Teaching phonemic awareness, blends and other key components of beginning reading is impossible without kids watching the teachers mouth and the teacher watching how they form them as well. My wife watched kids constantly touch their faces, pick their noses under the masks, go to the bathroom and swap masks, kids come in with the same mask all week, and other kids sent home with symptoms from too much carbon dioxide. For a virus that rarely effects kids at all, the rationale for masking or vaccinating them is ridiculous and not based in any real science.
