Y'all celebrate and champion rural living. One of the fixtures of rural life is limited options. Becky out in the backwoods may only have one place within miles that makes custom cakes. The problem can be even worse out west where towns are so far apart. Businesses aren't legally allowed to refuse service on the basis of sex, race, religion, national origin; age or disability(added later). That protects you from your local gun shop refusing you service just for being an American or white devil just like it protects them with the cakes.
you deflected entirely. I am not even saying the bakery owner was right. What I was pointing out is the customer was never looking for a cake. ONLY looking for the confrontation. You know that. Why can't you acknowledge that?

That's what's being reported everywhere, but with the media who knows.

"Autumn Scardina filed a lawsuit against Masterpiece Cakeshop in 2017, after the bakery refused to bake her a pink cake with blue frosting, symbolizing her gender transition. Phillips testified that the bakery refused to bake the cake “based on the message they believed it would have conveyed - that a person can change genders and that a gender transition should be celebrated.”"
I don’t believe that is all the story, not questioning what you wrote.

False, that was not the case here. It was not rural and not only that but the baker has the right to refuse on religious grounds. His right to believe his position.

He has to lie and obfuscate to make his argument.

It's a chit argument, void of any validity whatsoever, as has already more than sufficiently been demonstrated. He has to keep falsely asserting that they are bing denied based on sex when that clearly is not the case.

They don't care about civil rights or "oppression," only that they aren't the ones doing the oppressing, that they can't yet legally violate your civil rights. This is, as always, leftist scum gonna leftist scum.

What are the odds NY indicts him before then? No way will they let him speak in front of thousands of people.

I see the CRT crowd has moved the goal posts once again, now it's about "oh Republicans don't want to teach about slavery in school"

Lololololol

Of course this is because they know, just like with voting bills, their acolytes are too damn dumb and lazy to read bills.

First, let's acknowledge that schools don't teach complete history on things...we can agree on that. So that talking point is gone.

2nd, if you read the Florida and Texas bills it specifically states that curriculum should teach about slavery, red lining, jim crow, etc. So there goes that talking point.

CRT isn't "teaching history" or that's what it would be called. It's neo-racism plain and simple and is completely irrelevant to teaching actual history.

It's why charlatans like Ibram Kendi can't stand up to criticism or debate anyone. Imagine Cornel West turning down opportunities to be scrutinized...doesn't happen because he doesn't preach nonsense and is willing to explain his points. Kendi can't even give a definition without saying anti racism is anti racism and he can't at all explain middle class African Americans. Simply take out proletariat and bourgeoisie and replace it with black and white.

Msnbc and their viewers are exactly what they claim FOX is. They've been going on relentlessly how parents using FOIA for curriculum is wrong and they shouldn't know what their kids are being taught. Of course their petty base will do what they do with everything and simplify and deflect -"its bc everyone is racist"

Good thing every one of those metros is run by Democrats. The GoP would have taken away minimum wages and just fed the billionaires.
San Francisco has thousands of city government employees making atleast 250k a year....middle class tax payers across the country had to bail the city out with 600 million. I wonder why? Or are you under the delusion bc they work for the govt they are altruistic and not greedy at all. Thanks in advance for the answer.

Speaking of billionaires, tell me about SALT deductions

There are different plaintiffs in the different cases but yes, they were fighting for civil rights. Exposing yourself to that kind of national scrutiny and abuse is pretty courageous. I applaud their dedication to fighting for our freedoms. Yours and mine.

lmfao. OK..

If they actually went through the entire transition, fully committed and chopped their dongs off. I would applaud them too. But we both know they didn't. They are just suffering from mental illness. Like you.

😳

They are testing us. Just seeing what they can get away with and what our reaction is. They will probably keep pushing the boundaries knowing Biden is such a weak leader. I'd have a joint exercise with China if I were Putin. Biden wouldn't know what to do. Actually he would be to busy eating ice cream and signing whatever they put in front of him to care.

Biden just signed the Bill making Juneteenth a federal holiday marking the end of slavery. The only problem is that it’s a Texas holiday, slavery in the United States was still legal and happening in June of 1865. There were slaves in KY up till December 1865.

Im not against marking a holiday for the end of slavery, but at least be historically accurate while describing it.

if you’re gonna mark an end to slavery it should unit people therefore recognizing the end of the civil war is more appropriate. However in typical Democrat identity politics fashion they divide by recognizing one group.

It takes about 2 minutes of research to realize slavery was still happening after “ Juneteenth”, a holiday no one outside of Texas had heard of before last year, because it specifically relates to Texas.

A more fitting holiday that has been celebrated for years by African Americans would be “ emancipation day”, that’s when slavery died.

They hold an opinion. He isn’t refusing service because they’re white(illegal), he’s refusing because they’re in the KKK(legal).

No shit, Sherlock.

Exactly what is the case here. The baker isn't refusing them because they are gay, (illegal), he is refusing because of the cake they want designed and produced by him.

Literally, you just made.my argument.

He informed the couple that he did not create wedding cakes for marriages of gay couples owing to his Christian religious beliefs. They left without discussing any details of their wedding cake for him to even object to. You can look at the description from the suit I posted earlier.

i agree with most of what you say but I’m trying to figure out why we don’t celebrate the end of the bloodiest war in American history instead of celebrating one racial or ethnic group. I think personally the Indians or the people who were in the Americas got a worse deal than slaves yet there’s no day for them. It’s actually the antithesis in Columbus Day. Federal holidays should be unified not established to appease an ethic group or race.

Because 600000 Americans killed each other, there’s nothing to celebrate in that.
The Union leadership was smarter than our leaders today, they actually wanted to heal the nation after the war.

Did they inform him it was for a gay couples wedding?

If the laws on the book currently are important to you, as they should be to all of us, why aren’t you upset that the current POTUS is ignoring the law at the border?

That's a massive oversimplification. There are 1000 things that can go wrong for a business owner. Much of it out of their control. Many of them spell the end of the business. All of it must be navigated carefully minute by minute.

If the worst happens, they indeed might return to the workforce. Of course that's after almost certain massive financial loss. However everyone they employed loses a job.

If people stop reaping the reward, they stop taking the risk. If they stop taking the risk, jobs go away.
You'd think someone that "cared" about workers wouldn't be so flippant about driving businesses away.

No businesses = no workers.

They went in together and said they wanted a cake for their wedding. He declined their request.

Outline where our civil rights are being violated at the border and we can have a separate conversation about that.
