Matt Jones Says Marcus Walker Story Will Get Worse...

If this turns out to be a major team problem then Stoops needs to go. Unacceptable if it is a widespread issue.
I agree with this. I pray that is not the case but if it is you tell Stoops good-bye. We had another Coach, a coach much better than Stoops who lost control of a team and drugs was a major factor. I pray this never happens again.

If Walker knows other players involved, the old plea deal will be in effect. He is probably facing major jail time if true. He will spill the beans for shorter sentence. Not a lawyer, but play one on the Internet. Hope it is just him involved.

Not to say Matt Jones says anything to click bait or try to get attention.....

But I'm really not sure how to "get out in front of it" if no one else has been named.
Did he sell weed to players? More than likely. Do they still do drug tests on the team? Probably. Will another player get suspended some games for violation of team rules? I'd be shocked if they didn't.

Major drug ring on the team????
Kind of a long step.

It is what it is. From time to time this stuff happens no matter how closely you watch over things. But, in this case, I admit, I was struck by the amount and the cash counter. Makes Hatcher's situation look pretty trifling. But if it is no more than what has been actually "reported", it will pass.

Peace

A cash counter? Now that is getting serious, I don't think I ever had to use one of those. Of course they did teach us a little about adding and subtracting without a computer back in the day-------and I have never used any drugs, let alone sold them..

I bet those cash counters are big sellers among the Transfer U players.

Yeah, a huge step if you ask me. Every team is made up with the majority being pretty good guys, when you are dealing with 85 scholarshipped guys you are going to get a bad apple every once in awhile.

I always thought that it was a little odd that Hatcher was stopped and given a ticket on a major multi lane highway past midnight when he was only doing 11 miles over the speed limit. They might have thrown me in jail two years ago when I was driving my rental car to my 50th family reunion in heavy traffic in the middle of the day-------and I was just trying to keep up with the traffic, AND I didn't even have a cigarette in the car.

Scary situation though, although I think UK keeps a better handle on these things than almost any school out there------maybe why this even happened in the first place.

Its not that much of a reach to say Stoops may need to go....Hatcher, Ware, Jones, Badett, Barker...a plethora of off the field issues in his tenure

Sorry, but I think all of the issues you just brought up are almost completely beyond the control of the coaching staff. I think they would have probably done everything possible to prevent those "failures" from happening. Hard to pick 85 out of 85 moral winners when you are sometimes blinded by their athletic talents-------this guy a four star and no warning signs that I am aware of.

Every coach has to take chances in order to be competitive AND to keep their MILLIONS coming in. And I think UK's coaches have to withstand MUCH more stringent requirements from higher up than most schools, jurich's "standards" probably set a new all time record------for being the worst ever..

Including the coaches he hired AND kept.

I will have to point out for those questioning the coaching staff this arrest was apparently off campus. Not in a student hall.
It's always a bad 'look' when an athlete gets in major trouble. It's not a direct indication the program is corrupt.

It's not like someone was shot. What kind of program has that happen? Hmmmm

Having THREE people shot in a room full of players isn't the bad part, the FACT that jurich was able to squelch ANY statements from ANY of the people is a lot worse. Just shows how deep the coverups at Transfer U go.

Under Richt, yes...I dare say under KS there won't be a crack a church mouse could get into at ga.

Agree with your post but think you had a typo, they probably won't have to look for a crack, they will probably be escorted through the front door. Winning big covers a lot of sins.

Nope, our starting ILB next to Smith last year missed the last 5 games, Kirbys first year he suspended a starter for underage alcohol comsumption for 6 games. We had one arrested last week for posting a tape of him and a young lady in a compromising situation. UGA guys make the front page of the AJC within minutes of being booked.

But I wish it were a more level field

If you are correct (and I think you usually are) I stand corrected. Nice to hear we might still be on a level playing field with one of our opponents--------even if it probably won't matter in the outcome of the games, lol.

Our policy hasn't changed, it's not an athletic policy its a UGA policy, and we still have guys miss games because of it. Holyfield was caught as a frosh by the RA in the athletic dorm who went down the hall smelling under doors. Now I am not condoning doing something illegal, but that is a little extreme. Not as bad as having the drug test the Monday after sprng break a few years back. I wouldn't be excited about having any college football player having a grudge against me, but Holyfield would be very near the last one. He is a physical beast, and worst yet he knows how to defend himself.

Yeah, but I bet he would squeal just like his Papa if you bit part of his ear off, lol. But you try it first, too far for me to travel without knowing the results, lol.

llol, that would be a good strategy, but not sure my chin would keep me on my feet long enough to take a bite. Met Evander at a track meet several years ago. He was there watching one of his older kids compete. Standing alone leaning against the fence. I said hi Champ he smile and was very cordial to someone walking up and iintruding on his private time. But was just like any other parent there watching their kid compete. Talked to him for about 5 min and had to take my place as an exchange judge in a relay race. As you would expect, he was a big dude, huge upper body

Yeah, it takes a lot of guts to stand up to someone like that if he is trying to beat your brains out.

I always preferred a more genteel sport with some semblance of fair play, football.

Semblance of fair play unless you are Transfer U, Thug U, etc, of course.

Elijah, the son, felt the same way, gave up boxing at 16, said he didn't like getting hit in the face.

The next time that Matt Jones has some news relevant to UK football will be the first time. He's not a fan. Cole Cubelic called him out on his own show for being too negative about UK football. But, if he had the goods I believe he would be blabbering the details because he loves getting the scoop before anyone else. The only thing he cares more about is his own opinion.

Unless you know him personally you can only assume he talks. I would say he has enough street smarts to recognize how the system works.
If he has a decent lawyer he will leave it in his hands to get the best possible outcome. Absolutely nothing to gain by including others.

Gotta love America, where a harmless herb is legal one way or another in half
The country, .....still glad to know Lexingtons finest are keeping most of their fair city free from an herb that's been around since creation.

I personally feel much safer in my Mountain residence now that 114 miles away a weed dealer has had his life ruined by kids with badges and their Scotland's yard gum shoe work has really paid off .......while heroin laced with fentinal(sp?) abounds all across the city that will kill you on the spot.

Weed is far less harmful than alcohol and if you don't like it just don't stop at a bar or Krogers beer section...... America has jumped the shark,.....Jeff Sessions should get outta of the way of legalization nationwide, but he's seen one to many Cheech and Chong movies, plus the whole
Pesky Woodstock thang,..... he watched em all from
His iPhone Steve Jobs created. Another weed head.

I hope they sufficiently ruin the mans life for the herb God placed here from the beginning of time. And before you say well today's weed is crossed up to be more
Potent etc. so has corn , green beans, tomatoes and every other natural living vegetable.

10 or 20
Years from
Now ,our nation will realize its on the wrong side of history. ..

In he book of Genesis chapter 1 verse 12 God created the world and said I've given you ALL seed bearing herbs yielding seed in and of its kind and these are good "

But later in Genesis he was real plain about the tree of the fruit of knowledge to Adam and Eve when they were instructed Do NOT partake of this tree. But our " religious " community allows attacks over a harmless herb that's never killed from overdose and never questions how it is that ruining life's over an herb god created that helps sick people tremendously.

All the while we fight a war on opioids, by giving Purdue Pharmaceutical ( a privately held company) billions in Tax breaks. Makes perfect sense.......smash the gnat with a sledge hammer, and let the Whale swim free.

My personal views nor anyone else's on a particular herb being illegal or legal isn't the issue here. I don't see any real issues with it if someone chooses to use it in their homes, at a friends house or anywhere else it won't have any bearing on anyone else, the same position I have on alcohol. It's when they decide to do something that can and has had an effect on someone else such as driving a vehicle. I don't know your position on the herb having an effect on that but mine is it does and if it doesn't why want to use it if he has no effect. But that isn't the issue, the issue now and in the state of Kentucky and Georgia too is it's illegal, even in states it's legal my understanding is you have to have a license and an address plus the herb has to carry some kind of stamp much like tobacco products do, you can't be walking around with a case full of said herb stuffed in baggies. I may be misinformed on this particular case, but my understanding is he was doing something alone those lines, which is against the law in states who have made said herb legal.

That isn't saying he is a hardcore drug dealer, it's saying what he has been accused of doing is illegal everywhere, not just in the states who have passed laws allowing the sell of this particular herb. Should it be legal nationwide is another issue, personally I don't have an issue with it being legal, it's my choice just like it is with alcohol to decide if i want to use. I wouldn't myself, not because I am some holy roller or prude, but because I don't like being in a room full of smoke. I have no problem sitting in front of my computer sipping on a tall glass of rum and do quite often. But once I take that first sip, I am in house for the night, I don't drink anywhere other than where I am spending the night, my house, my lady friend's house or my hunting cabin/

When Taco Meat was caught running wild carrying a parking meter, Matt warned that it was a systematic problem indicative of coach Stoops's deficiencies. Nothing was further from the truth. I suspect that Matt wants to keep his name in the cybersphere for political reasons.

This is what I think is the opinion of most people. But 5 lbs. of weed or whatever it was plus coke is not personal consumption. Any arguement otherwise is just pushing an agenda. I don't have a problem with shine I know it isn't legal but if you decide to drink it in your home that's your business. Don't bother everyone else with your problems. Grumpy again you have shown your wisdom on a board that is lucky to have you for a friend. Thank you sir

I do t disagree with ya Grumpy and the true underlying issue is why do kids wish to " make it rain" and show a fan of cash on instagram & Facebook etc when they're doing dirt.

I like John Wayne movies growing up but never wore a Rooster Cogburn patch and a six shooter.

I think today's youth try to mimic these lyrics and lifestyles and the dam joke is on the whole village if we are not able
To separate lyrics and entertainment from our real life.

Who knows who's powder it was but the herbs shouldn't be an issue. But it's against the law, like harboring a run away slave was, like segregation was like jim crow laws were.
Just because our government deems something against the law does not mean it is right. Ever since the first Indian Village was burnt to the ground on this soil laws have been a heavy burden upon a lotta outgunned regular humans, and any law telling God all mighty he got an herb wrong is the height of arrogance and stupidity IMHO.

Matt Jones didn't release this news, it was circulated far and near on tv and in the LHL. Now his comments about this not going away are common sense. The kid was caught with a ton of money and drugs. I would think on that scale others knew, proving they knew could be daunting, but common sense tells us that people around him probably had an inkling that he was trouble. This doesn't end well, how bad it is we shall see.

I don't want to make this political, but like I said in previous post even if Kentucky was a state that decided maijuana was legal, assuming it was governed like those states that have, he would still be breaking the law because tax was being paid on it and he most likely wouldn't have a liscense,or know where it came from, another requiement in those states. He would basically be a moonshiner, selling a legal product made illegal because the state wasn't getting their cut.

As for why, many of these kids come from very poor backgrounds and once their COA and any other grant they received are gone, they are broke. Plus they have seen this all their life, maybe even survived because of it and don't see anything wrong with it. It isn't just happening at UK or UGA, we just happen to be the only 2 that don't keep it under wraps. And yes it gets used against us in recruiting every year. We dismis kids for domestic violence, some programs bring them in. State has one who beat some woman on camera and they welcomed him, OU had one who shattered a woman's jaw on tape and welcomed him. I guess because they were random women and not girlfriends made it acceptable.

Let’s not make excuses for anyone who breaks the law by selling coacaine to feed others’ devastating addictions. If you want the laws changed, go to your legislators, but until then, people who sell drugs know they are breaking the law. If you drive 70 in a 55, you are a fool to argue the speed limit should be 70 when you are cited for speeding.

This is not this players protest against Kentucky laws. Five pounds is running a business. Illegally. Without a license. Same thing that gets folks running a still in trouble for in counties where liquor is legal.
I just bet with his operation he would have had trouble in Colorado....bootlegging if nothing else.
Kid broke the law and more or less flaunted it.

Are you serious? If you think every "herb" was designed by God to be used/abused by people, please, go chew on some oleander. You'll love it.

Bad apples in every program. In the past Stoops has always made them pay at UK. No reason to think he won't take care of any problems without back seat driver Jones.
Agree. And when they turn up, you rid them from your program and move on. It's that simple. If this goes no further than Walker, it is already over.

Peace

Jones knows nothing per usual other than just regurgitating stuff he sees on boards or Twitter and a little guesswork.

Weeks ago many of us posted that there is more. I don't know to what effect, but it's pretty clear that's the case.

You had mid/low level drug trafficker running an operation while bragging about it on social media. At the very least it should trigger compliance questions regarding the money. Then add in Hatcher getting busted for basically the same thing.

Way more to it. Tip of the iceberg

I don't know how often they test but maybe we need to double the frequancy
