In reality, doesn't really mean much. Basically just means UL's benchwarmers lost a scrimmage to PR's benchwarmers. Still, fits an ongoing theme of Pitino's stint as PR coach being an utter disaster. They had their worst showing in the pan am games in like forever, and it appears the only team they can reliably beat are Pitino's own UL teams.
Unless they redeem themselves with a surprising showing in the FIBA tournament it appears Ricky's stint as an international coach might be remembered as an unmitigated disaster.

Exactly, what are we missing? All Pitino has done the last 5-6 years is play grab and hack ball. It's expected and the norm.

Isn't this the team that Kentucky beat by 25 and 32 or so points in the Bahamas trip? And didn't Louisville fans at that time say that those players were awful, but now they're terrific players since Louisville lost to them.
Also funny that as recently as when Jamal Murray was playing against teams that CRUSHED Puerto Rico by an average of 30 points, and he was dominant against those teams, they say that he's not all that great. That fan base is comical with how much it flip flops.

It's comical because Pitino coached the Puerto Rico team. Now they see what a Rick Pitino coached team looks like from an objective point of view.
I will never ever ever forget the 20+ page thread on their board after we beat them in the sweet 16 that had dozens and dozens and dozens of screen shots from the games with "missed calls" by the refs.
I mean some dude took HOURS out of his day to compile that and it was a joy to watch.

I was out last night at a sports bar and these games were actually on. Louisville is going to take a MAJOR step back this season. The two 5th year transfers are nice players but their front court is atrocious and they have zero bench.
I actually couldn't believe the level of talent they had while watching. By far his worst team since the 2006 NIT.

I suppose you are right. I guess that the lure of playing for the best coach in basketball overrides playing in the NBA.
