Hoping for a better year from our offense

So I’ve been casually rewatching our games from last season and man was it a struggle offensively. Devin Leary just didn’t pan out at all which seemed to be the biggest issue. While that was a big one the offensive line wasn’t much better. Jager Burton needs to be MUCH BETTER this year!

I really feel as if we have plenty of weapons to score a bunch of points! Question remains can our oline hold the line to enable Brock to feed the studs?! If so, I think Bush Hamdan will have a field day!!! Not too long til football guys!!! Can’t wait!!$

The play calling was not as good as the first go-round with Coen, imo. He called too many long passes that just weren't in Leary's skillset. Throw in an inconsistent OL, WRs that weren't motivated and a pace that can only be described as glacially slow and you've got an offense that rarely found its rhythm.

I believe we'll see a significant improvement this year.

You’re dead on!!! Liam was also a big reason for our offense sputtering along last year. Not sure what he was doing tbh? It wasn’t pretty though.

but we scored 29 pts a game last year….ill grant you it was a bit too much boom or bust ..but UK put points in the board

When you break it all down,it really comes down to two things. The offensive line and special teams. If our punting can flip the field and O-line shows significant improvement then we could have a very successful season. If we struggle in those areas its not going to turn out well.

I may be mistaken, but didn't we have more than the usual number special teams and defensive touchdowns? I don't think our offense was scoring 29 PPG but I sometimes 'misremember'.

I know max had two pick six in vsndy and maybe a few more defensive tds vs mom conference….but I’d argue every year we have short fields /special teams stuff

But 29 pts a game js what it is….so I’m like do I think UK will get over 30 this year…and I’d argue no

We had 4 defensive TDs.
3 kickoff TDs
Had 43 offensive TDs
Ranked 98 in total offense
Had one of the best yards per play in the country at 6.18 yards per play. Most teams are in the 5's.
#68 in passing efficency
10 FGs

25.46 ppg from the offense. Don't know where that would rank nationally.

We were ranked 56th in scoring in the country Combined with special teams and defensive TDs

Here again K, many here failed to recognize the progress made as the season closed out. In UK's last 2 games they moved the ball and scored points. Looked more like the team we hoped it would.

IMHO, the OC, Coen, didn't coach to the talent on hand, to complicated taking to long to get plays to the QB. No one, on the offense, seemed to be comfortable until near the end of the year.
Taking advantage of what the defense is doing wasn't one of his better skills last year, Mondale was in the NFL.

And all that led to one of the most boring offensive years I can remember! And the important part is not “me” being bored with it, it’s the future offensive recruits that were watching it!
