Given the amount of money these MF'rs are charging me each month, I would disagree.

I agree and what comes with it having your defense on the field for like 80% of the first half on Saturday. We were toast.
Kind of going back and forth on what 73 is saying about cutting edge, gimmicky offense AND what was most recently the most successful in Rich Brooks. An old school coach that doesn't recruit outstanding but develops like a SOB. We're never going to recruit better than 50% of the conference so you have to be able to develop those guys. We've yet to really see that under this staff granted it's still early.
We never finished better than 7-5 and 4-4 in the SEC with Rich Brooks. And though the offenses weren't truly gimmicky, we had a very good QB and very good WRs. We threw the ball...a lot.
Rich Brooks was a HOF coach who redshirted damn near everyone he possibly could. That's the only way to build the required size and depth of your lines. Without that, expect more Saturday nights imo.
Too many of our pass plays are designed for home run balls. Just throw it to your TE for 5 yards every once in a while and get on with it.

I don't get the sense that our offensive coaches have adapted to the realities of our personnel, which is concerning.
vegas knows their ish. from a distance installing the Richts as a 17 pt fav is insane. but their team will have so much more not-quit in them than us it won't be funny. similar scores as the last 2 weeks, 45-17 or 44-20. they want to save their season. our guys have packed it in and wont start trying until it is Vandy or UNCC.

Correct. Also, a completed 4-5 yard pass keeps the clock moving which helps keep your already thin defense off the field and limits possessions. Like, if you were trying to avoid the game virtually ending with 5 minutes left in the first half of a competitive game.

Rack. It's more bout principle than convenience. The better question is "why wouldn't the SEC network want to put the game on?"
I agree, but in the short term you have to adapt. If your O-line can't pass block for 3-4 seconds, don't make them pass block for 3-4 seconds. Seems pretty damn simple to me. There were multiple times where Johnson or another slot guy was looking at soft coverage at the snap. Why not audible into a quick lateral throw and let him take on the safety or whoever one-on-one? Better than having him get decapitated across the middle yet again.
I'm not entirely sure it's just him. Unfortunately, I don't think Towles gets this at all, either. It doesn't help that our receivers are effing awful at cutting off their routes and working back when he's forced to scramble out of the pocket (i.e, on every other down).
The only bright spot for me on Saturday is CJ Conrad. That sumbitch is a long time pro. Not sure why we don't get him the ball more. He is a total badass.
Seems to me that Stoops has brought in a couple "Air Raid" guys and then asked them to change what they were doing. Both were/are fairly inexperienced, so don't have a breadth of knowledge to draw on to improvise.

But look at Auburn--they're running a "gimmick" offense with far superior talent, and they're not exactly killing it this year. Same for guys like Leach, Klingsbury and to a lesser extent, Sumlin. Spread attacks are more common than pro style offenses now, so defenses are better equipped to deal with them. The key is executing whatever it is you're running. When Kentucky executes, they look good. When they don't, they don't have enough talent to overcome it, and they get mauled.

The entire coaching staff seems like a bunch of dumb f-up's that could've used some full-contact youth football early in their lives to give them better heads on their shoulders for adulthood.

The "gimmicky offense" people are just those that want a more entertaining product to enjoy until basketball season. Which, to be fair, is understandable.
That was one of those plays where the "sarcastic laugh followed by a "F**k you, Shannon"" was the only response a smart fan could make.
There's no such thing as a "gimmicky offense." There are offenses that work and those that don't. Ours currently resides in the latter category. Baylor runs a "gimmicky offense," too. Doesn't seem too terrible!

Auburn has played for 2 national championships in the last 5 years, winning 1. After an extremely long period of moderate success. So yeah that gimmicky offense thing...its really just a spread change of pace thing. And it works.
Exactly. Even in the best year in recent times we were only 7-5. That's what kills me and we still got beat soundly by the upper-echelon but made bowls and had a hell of a time. Tempering expectation in year three of a rebuild is necessary. Had we made the right hire with Brook's momentum I think we may have stayed around that level and possibly jumped up a bit.
The fact that we are 17-point dogs to Georgia is a bit concerning considering I'm not sure they could score 17 points on an empty field right now.

I'll tell you what, we are the kings of shitting all over ourselves right before halftime. It is uncanny.
I don't think people realize just how dumbed down the schedule is now as compared to ten years ago. We have 12 games now as opposed to 11 and 3 of them are wins we bought and paid for. We also added Missouri in place of an SEC West power in 2013. That's important. That Missouri win would have probably been a blowout loss to an LSU or Bama before SEC expansion. Before schedule expansion that Charlotte win would not exist. So under the old SEC format with 11 games, we'd have 2 bought and paid for wins, plus an SEC West Power. Right now we'd likely be sitting at 3 wins with no Charlotte game on our schedule if this were 2005.
Baylor is a great example. Complete shit program. Install fun offense and all of a sudden they are world beaters. Of course it takes the right coach, but...

Yeah, our schedule in the SEC is allowing us to manufacture mythical wins. Mizzou the 2 time defending SECE champs with like 12 SEC road wins in 2 years is really dragging us down.
