D-League

  • Good Morning, D-Leagueanites.
  • 86º already. Rain clouds up there.
  • The lawn service just cut the Zoysia. It looks beautiful.
  • Lola laying at my feet. Fan blowing.
  • Cleaning lady here. That's always a happy day for QB.
  • That Barred Owl has been stalking food already. It's a regular every day.
  • Heed my message to Jerry about the lightning. Dangerous.
  • Be safe with your fireworks. Have fun tomorrow.
  • As you were. Carry on.

Lawn service. Cleaning lady. What's next, Don, a butler?

Thanks Ymmot and Austin. I wish it could have been longer.

Ymmot I had a little more of the Old Grand Dad 114 yesterday and for real it is some great stuff.

Yes it was. I was so surprised when I took my first gulp. I was expecting a ridiculous burn but it was so smooth. Do you think they're lying about the 114?

Was able to complete my mission today with time left over. Now her car won't be finished until Thursday. I'll take her again and then get Dad. We're going to the piddler mall in Georgetown. Might take a scenic drive on the way back home. If anyone else needs a ride, let me know and I'll work you into the schedule.

One of the hated places for me. Walmart trips have to be thought out and planned with a list before I go. No deviation from the plan is authorized. If it happens (it is rare) I let my wife know when I have hit the wall and she will stop shopping and we checkout.

When the wife and I go together. We agree to meet somewhere, usually one of those old man benches, in say 20 minutes. I go to that bench at 20 minutes and wait about 20 minutes more for her to show up..

Just want to do a report post from Wal-Mart and state that I am most displeased.

No receipt books for mowing. The state now requires I charge sales tax and give a receipt.

I am most displeased with just being here in general.

Funny, my daughter does the same with me as we both sit on the bench and just talk while my wife shops.

We're getting some quotes on our bathroom remodel. Nothing drastic just basic stuff. Semi jaw dropping numbers being thrown at us. Hey I wanted a new driveway (cheaper) but my wife will win this battle.

Here's an early heartfelt thank-you to the D-League vets. Hell all the vets. Every 4th my pride in this country swells more than it normally does. I'll always be indebted to your service and sacrifice.

Good ones Rooster!

HowDy all. Extremely busy today.
Workin a half day tomorrow then taking Thursday off. Good times...aint we lucky we got'em...goooood tiiii-iiiimes.
Sittin under a tree while it lightly rains. Dry so far. Everyone enjoy the 4th best you can. Don't blow off any fingers...gotta be able to text & type.

Believe me when I say it was a pleasure. While we do sacrifice a lot we also gain a lot. I have been to places many will not see. In the mountains of Alaska during a task force winter training mission at night in February 1981 it was a magical seeming place. It was -40° with a wind chill factor up to a -100° at times but, the beauty for me was beyond compare. Aurora Borealis was incredible. The darkness broken by the white of snow was something to behold. While not alone, you could imagine being that way while everyone else was asleep and I was just walking around in the early hours. You can Imagine just you and God being there enjoying the sight.

In contrast, the next year, we were in the jungles of panama in the same time frame January-February. It was 95° in the shade and we were at the Jungle Warfare Training Center FT. Sherman Panama. It was also a very beautiful place. Have you ever seen a Toucan bird in its natural habitat? The colors were very bright and beautiful. They don't shine like that in a zoo. Many creatures and vegetation that was just incredible to see.

From the castles of Europe to the desert of Saudi Arabia, Mountains of the Northern regions to the plant life of the Southern hemisphere, Army life was worth it.

No regrets and it was an honor to defend this nation.

Good evening to all members of the D-league. Oliver(grandson) and I went fishing around 4 pm. I wasn't ready. But by taking bait ,tackle, and Rods, we had everything. Oliver was being a stubborn 7 year old. Papa took control, made him come closer to me. Told him to listen to me and to calm down and he would be catching fish.
Within no time he caught his first. I would re-bait his pole.2nd caught, .so with in an hour he had bagged 4 Blue gill very nice. I was re -baiting and he landed 4 large mouth Bass on the below 2# size. What a great day. Oliver was a very happy grandson!:sunglasses: :americanflag: A very Happy forth of July to all!

Evening D
Glad to be taking a break from stuff for a bit
We still have several days to get though; this weekend I'll be going over to my parents' apartment and getting it cleaned as Mom wants to go home on Sunday. I'll be staying with her for a while - she doesn't want to be alone, yet, although she knows she must face it eventually.
We will be honoring the 4th, but there will be no celebrations this year. It was Dad's favorite holiday and he used to do it in style. None of us feel up to fireworks.
I do want to tell you guys how much I appreciate each and every one of you for your love and prayers. I shared your messages with Mom and she was touched by your comments. Thank you

Way to go, among outdoor activities for children, fishing if they are biting, is one of the best. Drinking my coffee right now and will head out shortly after to do a few hours of bass fishing before it gets hot.

HAPPY 4TH YOU GUYS (WITH RESPECTS TO BKO'S SITUATION) AND GOD BLESS.

Thanks for sharing Warrior and thanks for your service! The military has certainly given you a rewarding and adventurous life.

  • May the Fourth be with you, D-Leagueanites.
  • 73º in Johns Creek. Clear and beautiful. Very nice.
  • 1st mug of Dark Magic going.
  • Listening to 97.1 The River. Classic Rock.
  • I've been worrying about that soccer team in that cave trapped about 2 miles from the surface. 2 miles. Pray that somebody will figure put some way to get them out. Their coach did not know enough about spelunking to suit me. Damn!
  • Watch your kids with their fireworks. Don't want them getting fingers blown off.
  • It sounded like WWIII last night. Scared Lola.
  • Love and prayers to Bev's little mother. She's still in shock probably. Damn shame.
  • RRCat is making a little fishermsn. That is so much fun for a child. That post reminds me of doing that at Granddaddy's farm pond. When I was 16 he let me have his '56 Ford pickup one Saturday night. My cousin and I took that thing to that same pond and cleaned it up. Tore the clutch up. Granddaddy never said a word about it. But I didn't get to use his truck again. He died of Cancer in 1966.
  • You know we have an army Sergeant in the family now.
  • Stay safe, everyone.
  • As you were. Carry on.
