Damn, I would have never guessed that.

P.S. I told my son (20 year Army guy) about you. He said some horrible things about DI's. I told him he did not know what he was saying! [roll]

My son in basic wanted to shoot a machine gun, so the dumb ass volunteered for the machine gun. He lugged it around for twenty miles and never got to shoot it.
The one thing about Drill Sergeants is that you never forget who yours was. I remember all three that were in my platoon as private. Atchley, Paul, and Hawkins. Atchley pretty much hated me because, I could do his voice to a T. So, one night I was mocking him and he had snuck back to the billets to see what we were up to and caught me in his office with his Drill Sergeant hat on. That was not a good night for me, nor for the rest of basic training. Hawkins and Paul thought it was funny and kept the punishment lighter than it could have been.

Just getting settled in for the night. Long day.

Great time at Bert's house as always. Wish I had go to know you earlier in my life Bert. It would have made it that much better!

I didn't get a bottle of that bourbon yet but I probably will tomorrow.

Steak was delicious and I got to see Austin again which is always a treat. Great day.

Bev, I recommend you take this down. I was able to learn your name, address, phone number
and Facebook page going from that obit. We're harmless here but outsiders who might browse may not be. If you do I'll delete this post which has the link above.
I wasn’t thinking
Thanks
Could you also delete where you quoted me?

Ain't that the truth. My wife doesn't like any of my old girl friends, who knew?

I got married at 19. I only had one girlfriend before I met my wife. The old girlfriend was two years behind me in high school and I moved out of state looking for work. I wrote her a Dear John letter, being a nice guy and all. Didn't want to string her along after I met my wife. Things didn't go well the next time I saw my ex-gf. She was livid. We never saw or spoke to each other again. 50 years later I heard she had terminal cancer and I called her (I told my wife and she didn't mind). I wanted to apologize for being so thoughtless in breaking up with her and try to offer her some words of Christian support. I ended up talking with her 3-4 times before she passed.

My lives are overlapping tomorrow. My wife needs to drop her car off at the place and my father has a doctor appointment tomorrow. I'm going to get up early and follow her there and then take her on to work. Then I'll go pick up Dad and we'll hit a couple piddler malls prior to his 1400 appointment. Take him back home after that and head downtown to pick up my wife from work. Logistics? I gots em.

Good morning from Shawanee, TN. Currently 69°F. Expecting 87°F high, hot and humid. No AC where I'm staying. Using fans. Old school.

Had a great meetup with @Bert Higginbotha and @ymmot31 this past Sunday. Bert's wife made the absolute best cole slaw I've ever tasted. Super.

Sorry for your loss, Bev.

Visiting some folks later today.

I've got nothing else. Y'all behave.

  • Good Morning, D-Leagueanites.
  • 86º already. Rain clouds up there.
  • The lawn service just cut the Zoysia. It looks beautiful.
  • Lola laying at my feet. Fan blowing.
  • Cleaning lady here. That's always a happy day for QB.
  • That Barred Owl has been stalking food already. It's a regular every day.
  • Heed my message to Jerry about the lightning. Dangerous.
  • Be safe with your fireworks. Have fun tomorrow.
  • As you were. Carry on.

Me and my wife a few years back got on Face Book together and that lasted about a couple of months because a couple of old girlfriends were trying to contact me through it and that was enough for my wife. Don't blame her as I did not go on it as much as she did. We have not been back on since. This place is my only social media site now.

Good Tuesday D.

Heading to brave Wal-Mart in a bit for groceries etc for a cookout tomorrow. Not a fan of going but gotta be done.

Had some serious lightning before dark yesterday and quite a bit of rain. Was in the midst of picking up rocks. Will finish that this evening.

Be safe.
One of the hated places for me. Walmart trips have to be thought out and planned with a list before I go. No deviation from the plan is authorized. If it happens (it is rare) I let my wife know when I have hit the wall and she will stop shopping and we checkout.
