CI Wrestling Thread #56

So Punk just confirmed Daniel Bryan to AEW? It was all but a certainty but Punk seemed to make it a certainty.

So at what point is it considered tampering? I mean sure Cole and Bryan are going there but they just have to ruin the surprise.

Tay is so gorgeous. But… it looks like the initials on Punk’s shoes may mean something after all. He had BW on his shoes tonight. I don’t know, I mean the W could stand for Wisconsin? Idk..

I don’t know wtf AEW was thinking with this show. Had a chance to have the most viewers ever and they threw out a complete dud. 90% of that should have been on Dark. Just stupid as hell.
The Jaimie Hayter and Red Velvet match was a disaster as was the Orange Cassady and Matt Hardy match. So many botched moves that it looked like something from a match at your local National Guard Armory where you see one of the wrestlers the next week flipping burgers at Wendy's.

Twitter is all, “women deserve more exposure!” “Women are just as good!” “Give women more matches”. Well… one woman is probably dead now because she was in the ring and had no right to be. How does Twitter feel now?!?

I don't have any social media anymore so I have no idea who you are talking about. Care to share any details?

I just woke up…what did I miss now? Or do I have to figure out what that SRS writes for

Red Velvet did a standing moonsault last night, completely missed Hayter and it looks like she landed on her own head and knocked herself out. She didn’t really move much after it. She misses the moonsault often and it looks bad.

This is why people casual fans can’t get into aew - 20% of it is good and 80% is hokey nonsense and botches

I’d have to imagine there was a chunk of new people watching last night, for Punk. They were treated to an opener of Cassidy vs Matt Hardy. Whenever AEW takes a step forward, they seem to follow it up with two steps backwards. Going from a red hot debut last Friday to what they put out last night was a total buzzkill.

I was excited about Dynamite and they pulled a WWE in terms of extinguishing their own momentum.

Most of the stars only had intervoew segments; match card was meh; the wingmen are pure enhancement talents with lil Dolph, generic Big Bubba Rogers and a tall nondescript guy.

I’m hoping Rampage is better and I’m fighting the urge to read the spoilers.

Many people fail to see this.

the majority of my friends that are lapsed fans say the same thing.

my saying has always been: it’s wrestling, so it’s always going to have a sense of silliness, but in the past, the silliness was the exception and not the norm.

now that’s reversed. The silliness is the norm and the seriousness is the exception.

I think AEW could cut 75% of the people who wrestled last night and no one would care or even notice. Guess they think Punk will draw people to order All Out, because everything else is kind of meh.

I don’t like the wwe or aew, so I have my biases, but honest question to you and a few others

How long will the novelty of CM Punk last before fans that tuned in to see him think the rest of aew is dreck and will tune back out.

In an honest estimate, he’s potentially giving them 300-400k viewers…will they last?

Outside of his pipe bomb promo his wwe career was nothing spectacular - right now he’s doing snarky promos the marks are eating up but at some point it’ll get stale - can only complain about your past transgressions so much - think people already have forgotten about Andrade - omega isn’t getting rid of that belt anytime soon

That's being pretty dismissive of CM Punk and his accomplishments in WWE.

They hit a home run with Rampage last week, everything was really well done. But just bringing him back out on Dynamite was a little awkward, he needs to have an angle and a feud, and they aren't really hyping the feud with Darby at all.

At this point, we know he can still talk, we'll know after All Out whether he can still wrestle, and hopefully once we start getting him in proper feuds he'll start showing his worth.

It will be interesting when he posts the quarter hours but Dynamite did 1,172,000 viewers last night. I thought it would be higher and I wonder if people turned it off after Punk's segment.

They were number one in 18-49 by a decent margin and number one in males 18-49 by a huge margin with a .67 demo.
