CI Wrestling Thread #56

How do they determine how many people watch a segment? People don’t change the channel during that time? It’s awfully specific.

I’ve been watching Pro Wrestling for a long, long time.
I’m not sure that’s something to be proud of.
But, in my humble opinion, WWE nowadays is the worst I have ever seen.
Hands down.
Smackdown has 1 or 2 good segments a week - raw has 0.

I did Nielsen surveys for a month once but it was for radio. They sent me like $30 in cash.

Summerslam was fine. Allegiant was cool. Becky return was great until the match.

Not sure what Alvarez-Meltzer saying about them goosing the attendance numbers but place was 100% sold out
They always claim that. It’s nonsense and they actually have no way of knowing it.

They tried to do the same thing to the record-breaking WrestleMania in Dallas when I was there, acting like the numbers were wrong. That place was insanely packed. Looked like little ants everywhere.

Dave has historically claimed the wwe attendance numbers are inflated / he pretty much has questioned any attendance figure since like WM 1

That’s ****in cool as hell. I love behind the scenes shit like that. I can’t even imagine the chills hearing and feeling an arena full of people go insane for you and only you.
Watch Being The Elite. They have behind the scenes stuff every episode. That’s where that video came from.

I’ve seen numerous people, not just Dave or Bryan, say SS had 45,000 people and not the 50,000+ that wwe claims.

As for the Rampage numbers I’m pretty sure AEW is very happy. I know tnt is. They put out a press release. AEW hurt their ratings by not announcing him ahead of time. They knew they’d have more people tune in if they’d announced him but they still wanted it to somewhat be a surprise. Punk is advertised for Dynamite. Interested to see those numbers. But 1.1M at 10est on Friday is fine. The demo was the huge thing. It was only 40,000 viewers from beating Smackdown in 18-49. It did beat SM in several other demos.

I didn’t know SRS was from ky - pretty cool - surprised Matt Jones hasn’t had him buzz into ksr more often

I had no idea he was from Kentucky either until I watched a video of his and saw all the UK stuff in the background.

What I really, REALLY want to say is:

It stands for Sean Ross Sapp. But it's ok. It will all be over soon.

And that @sshat has me blocked so he won't see it...until someone replies to it?

If you're going to continually post in a wrestling thread even though you hate everything about the current product despite not watching it you're going to have to do a little leg work to keep up.

I watch Raw, Smackdown, Dynamite, and Rampage each week + NXT if I have time, and I had no idea who this SRS person is. I also don’t read dirt sheets anymore. This thread is my dirt sheet.

Of all the records, buzz, ratings and so on that Punk’s debut did... this by far is the most impressive IMO. Those Bullet Club shirts were EVERYWHERE for many years and you still see them a lot although not as much as you used to.

So are they saying this Punk shirt sold more overall shirts than the total number of the bone soldier bullet club shirt total over the 7 year period it’s been out? If that’s what they mean then that blows my mind. I don’t know how that’s even possible.

If that’s the case then TK could probably pay a lot of Punks contract off those 3 days of shirt sales alone. AEW continues to be the top tshirt company in all of tshirt companies...

That’s what happens when you sign a legitimate big name star.

The Pwinsider folks said he was already a free agent but quickly corrected the story.

A few more ratings notes from Friday, Rampage was second for the night in the 18-49 with a .53 finishing just behind NFL Football with a .55. It was also second in 18-49 males losing to the NFL by a .73 to .72 margin.

I didn't pick up on this but Punk had the letters AC and CF written on his shoes. I guess we can all speculate on the AC but who would CF be? I can't imagine Charlotte Flair??
