Calipari has interest in Knicks presidency, per Ian Begley

I'll never understand why fans attack each other on here the way they do. People are allowed to have different opinions. If theirs is different from yours that doesn't mean you have to shout them down or "out" them as less of a fan than you are.

Playing catchup and I'm mobile. Knicks have no interest.. Is there any proof Cal initiated any of this? Who's got the juice? Who is claiming what?

Just because the Knicks aren't interested doesn't 1. Mean they can't change their mind and 2. Change the fact that Cal is strongly looking at the NBA when he normally laughs it off.

Im hoping some are right here, that he doesn't have interest in the NBA and it's either bogus, or blown out of proportion..

Because to go coach a dumpster-fire knicks with zero Kentucky recruits? That says something. To me, it says he's ready for another shot at the NBA and his time here is closer to an end than I thought.

I think the KNICKS said the Cal reached out, simply to make it seem their job is more attractive. They are floating his name.

There is no way Cal wants that job or would leave Kentucky right now. Ian should have looked at the UK roster, seen that Brad Calipari is on the team, and said this is a bad rumor. But he must not be that good of a journalist.

The Cal/Cavs/Twins comments were in the context of being a player's first program. Like, "How could I leave when they came back and trusted me with their futures?"

He went on to say that maybe people come back every year and he never leaves.

Last I checked, we just spent a month dancing with Diallo and he came back. He's in Egypt with Cal right now.

Does Cal have conversations or do his people have conversations about every high profile job? Probably so. Does it really matter?

He's leaving at some point, for some reason. Probably not this summer to that dumpster fire in New York.

Nothing to see here. Let's move on fokes. Not going to happen. Another NBA Summer Rumor. It's another National Holiday like Christmas and Thanksgiving. Cal going to the NBA.

Everything I said was true. I don't throw stones for that because anything could happen and end up eating crow.

Yeah, I grew up a Kentucky fan and live in the state but I didn't graduate there. If you didn't finish college or go to an actual university you might not understand the connection one has to their alma mater. Ask WKU grads on here or anyone who didn't graduate at UK.

But thanks for checking on me, weirdo.

So... You're not really a Kentucky fan? But a fan of a school "out west " where you graduated from?

I don't think he's going anywhere and I'd be shocked if he left like this in the middle of the summer, but if he did it would be eerie how much his time here and career path has mimicked Pitino's.

How did you get that? I said I'm a Kentucky fan but I care more about my alma mater push come to shove but they're not competitive nor would they ever play Kentucky so yeah, I think it's okay to cheer for my home team and the team I've followed since I was five.

You okay with that?

Where did you graduate from?

I think it sounds like something Worldwide Wes floated out there, like the Lakers rumor in 2014. The Lakers were the ones to shoot that one down, too.

Why do you care so much about graduating? Mentioned it like 3 times. People are fans of a schools for many reasons. Not all UK fans graduated from UK. If I didn't end up going to UK I would still root for them first because I grew up here. Just because you have a different opinion doesn't make it right. You need to put a pipe in your holier-than-thou Dukie/Louisville slurp holster. Pathetic.

Why would he not leave? He could make so much more money. He's making, what, $8 million now? Phil made $50,000 a day.

And how quickly would he assemble a roster of Kentucky players? Yeah, like every UK alum wouldn't want to go to New York and play. Davis, Towns, Booker, Wall.

Is he not from the area? Who are we kidding? We aren't the Knicks.

If I'm Cal, and they give me Dolan money, I'm taking it and turning that team into a dynasty.

Honestly, if he left, who the hell would we hire that could even come close to what he's done? Sean Miller is a huge step down but he's better than all of the other college options that I can think of. Who the hell would even be considered?

Well at least we should get a halfway good coach as opposed a drunk if it goes according to history.

Watch.. Diallo, the recruit posters lambasted, will be the one guy that keeps Cal here. What a turn of events lmfao.

Yeah. I can't see Cal bailing on HD.. That's a pretty unique scenario.. And I don't THINK he'd leave him hanging.

You realize there are rules right? Cal can't just go getting the kentucky gang back together like Gordon Bombay in D2 Mighty Ducks. It doesn't work that way.

Cal to the Knicks.. He'd be lucky to get 3 UK in the next 5 years.

I was just going by the post you made that someone else quoted - when you said you have more of an allegiance to this ghost school than you do UK. If you're not a UK fan that's totally cool.

I graduated from Kentucky btw

Oh you mean like the 927 jobs he's "had interest in/ was on the brink of taking " since he came to UK?

Kinda like that ?

You're negativity isn't even fun in a "oh he's a troll/ smooth as butter kinda way.

You Just have ridiculous takes on most things... no offense of course :)

Heart of gold, though.

A lack of interest from the Knicks is what will keep Cal at UK.

The argument that you must attend the University to have a special "understanding" or "connection" to a sports team is flat out bullsht. I played baseball and graduated from Memphis. I do not follow Memphis baseball, I follow UK baseball. I do not care about memphis basketball, I care about UK basketball. It's a degree, not a fan badge. I guess if you've never worked for the Lakers you can't be a super fan? Such a stupid argument on so many levels. I cherish my UK memories, on campus and off, and have thousands of dollars worth of memorabilia but hey, better take that authentic 2012 final four dome banner down signed by the team. Didnt go to English 101 at UK. Smdh.

Cal to the Knicks.. He'd be lucky to get 3 UK in the next 5 years.

Sure there are. Look how those rules are keeping PG in Indy.

Let's be honest, the league is run by stars. No shit players can't just pack up and move, but they can absolutely force trades. In three years, how many UK players will have become UFA's? A lot.

Now add in the ones that are traded there...

Cal could build another empire in NY, with an unlimited player pool that would love to play for him. Durant is taking a pay cut, you think a UK player won't take a few million less to free up cap space to play with another star and fellow alum? I do.

I'm not saying it's going to happen, but I'm saying whether you believe the rumors or not, it's entirely plausible.

Hit a nerve?

The point was you have a connection from where you got a degree. If you didn't experience that then you can't comment on anyone's situation about fandom.

You also need reading comprehension. I do root for UK and grew up here. How hard is that to understand? It's like you didn't comprehend a single thing that was previously written.

You can gladly eat a fat one too.

So, who's this mysterious other team ?

How did you get this? And thanks UK9 for your stupid BS cause you're an insecure weirdo.

I didn't go to UK. Grew up loving them and rooting for them still to this day. Didn't go to school there. Still a fan. Still root for them. Obviously since I'm on the board. The point I made which seems lost on many is that my alma mater has more of my heart for obvious reasons. Many on here are exactly the same and I've heard them say the same.

Nope, it's weird. No matter how you try to say it. I'm not hating, I won't call you names or anything ... but it's weird . Ya feel?

On the topic, Cal has never shown much interest publicly for any opening. The statement about the Twins eas taken completely out of context. Cal wasn't meaning he would have taken the Cavs job.

Cal hasnt been to a final four in a few years, and if he happened to miss one next season the bitching would grow louder. Its common for this type of program / organization / franchise, and the best way to handle that is to put some fear in people. Maybe some perspective.

Example.

Fans - "You are underacheiving and need a second ring."

Cal - "or, the Knicks just called".

Hell, I'm one to complain about Cal in some ways, and I take it back now.

If true then all his talk about helping kids and their family reach their dreams is all bs

People would argue it.

Cal is a salesman. The best salesman are able to woo many people. This is no different.

**not saying Cal doesnt really care, I think he does. But still, is what it is.

Pitino may be available soon.

I hear ya.... but this not normally how it unfolds. In the circumstance you describe, a rumor is intentionally planted that a team/franchise in interested in the coach.... not vice-versa.
The coach then lets it linger before shooting it down.
There is a lot of risk in a coach reaching out about another position, and doing so is not the typical strategy you described above.

If Cal didn't actually ask about the opening then he needs to come out and say so. It makes it sound like he wants the position more than he wants to be at UK.

Nice. You spend an entire thread talking about your alma mater and how special it is to have a degree from there, then you go and tell someone to "eat a fat one." I'm guessing that alma mater isn't quite as proud of you as you are of it.

That's fine. If you feel more of a connection to a big west basketball team because you took classes there good deal. I actually played for a college team, not just took classes on campus. I have zero feelings or allegiance toward Memphis. They offered a little more scholarship money so I took it. That's it.

Im just saying, going to a college doesn't have anything to do with it unless that's just how you feel personally.

Me? I hope Memphis baseball / sports loses it's ass. Obviously I couldn't care less about where my classes were taken if I dont even like the team I played for.

Tennessee born, Kentucky bred. Period no more the end.

And F the Big West. BBN is all that matters.
