Bolden

Amile Jefferson returning might have some effect on Bolden's decision but Jack White's commitment won't for two reasons: 1) Jack White is ranked in the 200's and Bolden is a top 20 player, so he would be way ahead of Jack White in playing order and 2) They don't play the same position, Bolden is a Center and Jack White is a Small Forward

Hope so.

I also wouldn't mind it if Briscoe said he wanted another year. Would be great to have some higher level guard depth next season.

Meanwhile, does Grayson Allen pass up on his first round status for a year of sharing and caring with Kennard, Jones, and Jackson on the wing?

He'll get even less minutes next season.

I see Allen leaving with the weak draft and all, but you can't underestimate K's ability to whine and get him to come back either!

Some kids are just made for Duke, doesn't matter who is there or not there, that is just how they are wired. Now I'm not that familiar with Bolden so he might not be, but some kids are.

When either UK or Duke is involved i find it difficult to use standard logic. Cal and K have a magical ability to convince kids of almost anything. Great for us normally, but you never know when the two powerhouse forces collide.

I saw Grayson allen, after hitting a game winner, skip celebrating with his team, and instead sprint over to K to give him a huge bear hug so I'll believe he's gone, when he's gone.

that momentum didn't last long for duke. With Jefferson coming back and signing of jack white the blue devils just lost the chance to get bolden. Kentucky bound in the next 3-4 weeks

I disagree. Jefferson is a forward and the other kid is not nearly as good as Bolden. If Bolden goes to UK, it won't be because of those two.

seeing how Giles will get 35 or more minutes at power forward. Where do you think a 5th year senior Jefferson will get his forward minutes? Answer is starting at center. Kinda doesn't leave much room for bolden to start for them

With the resurgence of Skal I believe we'll see Bolden pull the trigger for us now. Feel like maybe he pulled back because he was unsure if Skal would be going pro or not. I believe it's pretty certain he does now. Would solidify an already ridiculous class. I believe Briscoe comes back as well. Which I think is a good thing. Having an experienced guard will only help the new pups.

Kinda wondering why we even brought Wynyard in or what will happen to him.

Assuming Bolden does pick Kentucky, Humphries, Bolden, SKJ, Bam and Lee is plenty down low.

Yea I fully expect Jefferson to be the starting center next year.

I don't know who Jack White is but this makes sense. A top 20 player isn't afraid of a player not in the top 200.

Most expect Bolden at UK and z71 usually knows of what he speaks so I trust what he says. Jefferson coming back def would have an effect on Bolden . I also see Briscoe coming back . The player that I am interested to see what happens with is Lee. I would love for him to come back for his senior season but who knows.

i have a calendar that goes up to and even past 2018 and 2019. I just wanted to reassure you that next season isn't the end of Wynyard's eligibility and that indeed basketball will be played in those years lol .

Seriously though , he was ranked in the 30's or 40's , It could take him as long as it took Willis to contribute

Yeah, if nobody redshirts or transfers, they have a ton of 4s and 5s.

My world ends after 2017. Pact with the devil.

I think Giles will play a lot of center. I believe he played center for US 18 and under team, it's not like it's a stretch for him to play center in college.

So you guys got a commitment from the lead singer of the White Stripes? Jack White?

I hope Jefferson stays at duke for as long as perry Ellis has at Kansas so he should have atleast 12 years left. He's mediocre at best. I've seen what he can do which isn't much so take him and jack white and Giles with two bad knees and good luck. I don't want to see any player hurt but look at poythress he was healthy through highschool but hurt his knee in college and it's been tough for him. I can't imagine how Giles will respond

Yeah, no idea what a low ranked SF has to do with Bolden.

Jefferson returning makes a difference... and yeah, most Duke fans are ECSTATIC that Jefferson could come back... a long, lean, excellent rebounding senior captain who isn't a "me first" type of player is PERFECT on a team which might feature three massively ball-dominant players (Giles, Tatum, and Allen.)

And rebounding won't be a problem for Duke next year. There aren't that many guys who are going to push Giles around, and 6'8 All-American talent at the 3? Rebounding, like athleticism and defense, won't be an issue. Should be a heck of a year next year, with a few REALLY top level teams, unlike this year, where it is SO evenly spread.

I'd say our rebounding, post scoring, and overall post presence will be improved next year.

He will, especially in the system Duke usually runs. Jefferson would be the 4, but actually, the way that Krzyzewski tends to go, it would not be surprising to see Tatum at the 4 and Giles at the 5. If K plays Tatum, Jefferson, and Giles together (or Bolden with Giles and Tatum, if Bolden goes there), that's 3 guys who aren't really 3 point threats. Tatum is a little bit, but more like Justise Winslow or Jabari Parker, both of whom K ended up using extensively at the 4.

With Jefferson back, with or without Bolden, Duke is going to have way, way more size than they normally do, so it will be interesting to see how K uses it (or doesn't).

Just did a little perusing of the Duke rivals forum and there was very little discussion about Bolden. I think if they thought they were getting him, they'd be talking about it a bit more.

If Skal keeps doing what he's doing, we have a great chance of getting Bolden pretty soon.

If that happens, the rest of the nation had just better watch out.

Dude, do Duke fans really expect Allen to come back? He is being projected in the mid-first round. Why would he come back? Very unlikely to have a better season next year.

Wynard and Hump. Wil get their min their Jr and SR years. Hump will backup the 5 next year if Lee goes and bolden comes

Most folks expect (if Jefferson comes back) that K will do...

Jefferson
Giles
Tatum
Allen
Thornton

That leaves...

Jeter and Javin at the 4/5
Kennard, Jones, Jackson at the 1/2/3

That's more than enough depth for K, and having a senior big at the back of the defense is a huge plus with two freshmen in such prominent roles.

And Tatum can hit from 3. He isn't a specialist, at all, but most folks expect him to be sort of like Winslow... not known for it coming in, but able to develop it once he has space and time.

We brought him in for depth for the future, and a backup plan if things go wrong. Cal has said he won't get stuck with a short bench again. You know how people like to complain about us not having good 4 year players? Wynyard can be one of those.

That lineup would be out of character for a Krzyzewski team. He almost never plays 2 guys at the same time who aren't 3 point threats (though he did early this season out of necessity), especially when there's a third guy out there who's only a "sort-of" threat (the sort-of threat is usually the 4 in K's system). And you are really squeezed for time on the wing with that lineup.

If Allen returns, I suspect that, though we will see the lineup you mention at times, Amile Jefferson will find his PT plummeting.

bolden is not waiting on skal. skal has been gone the minute he stepped foot on uk's campus. I don't know why some of you cant grasp that. its not his choice. its his handlers. please people skal is not coming back. no way no how

and it's not like he's playing for a guy who cares about playing him at his nba position

yeah and it 100% follows that bolden completely understands that
