UPDATE: Alec Baldwin is now flatly denying he pulled the trigger of the gun.

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/01/movies/alec-baldwin-trigger-rust-shooting.html

So now we have a woman killed

A. by a live bullet that should have never have even been on the set.
B. fired from a gun that should have only fired blanks and should have never been loaded with a live round -- or be capable of firing one.
C. from a gun that was in the hands of someone who NEVER PULLED THE TRIGGER.

Either we have a clear-cut example of the supernatural at work or....Alec Baldwin is totally lying and full of sh%$.

My opinion: He thinks he can sell this nonsense to a crowd of liberal supporters in NYC and LA who have never held a gun, and can fully accept they just randomly discharge all the time.

Alec Baldwin Says He ‘Didn’t Pull the Trigger’ in ‘Rust’ Killing

The actor said in a brief excerpt from an upcoming interview with ABC News that he had not pulled the trigger when the gun he was holding went off, killing the cinematographer.

Hope he doesn't get a parade attacking SUV.

Here's the issue. He also denies ever pointing the gun at anyone. So, unless the shot was a ricochet (which nobody ever reported that it was), this means that he has already lied.

Here's another factor. The firearm was a revolver. Now certainly my revolvers' triggers are very light with the hammer already cocked. It is possible that he was handed a cocked revolver.....and while he doesn't recall pulling the hammer specifically, the exchange or handling of the firearm could've involved some sort of pressure on the trigger. "IF" this is the case, the armorer bares even more responsibility because you should never hand someone a cocked revolver. But certainly, Baldwin still was responsible since he still had it in his hands.

If the hammer was not cocked when the gun was handled to him.....this means that Baldwin cocked it himself. Which means whether or not he "thinks" he touched the trigger or not.....he's at fault.

Single action revolvers must be cocked before the trigger can be pulled to fire.

A period specific gun can possibly fire without cocking and pulling the trigger if a cartridge is loaded in the cylinder under the hammer/firing pin and the hammer is sharply impacted.

Either way, Baldwin was handling the weapon and is responsible.

I can separate a man playing a roll on a tv show from him as a real person.
You mean the real person who physically and emotionally abused his wife and other women? Who was recorded on tape calling his adolescent daughter a pig and physically threatening her? Who has been involved in so many episodes of bullying people and losing himself in public rage that you need a scorecard to keep up?

That’s the real person and I have no problem believing his reckless, entitled, arrogant behavior contributed to this woman’s death.

You are the one who foolishly falls for the guy doing silly TV skits and ignores the ample evidence of a dangerous, ugly, out of control "real person."

He may be a big enough pos to run for president.

Worst acting of his career. The "tears" were obviously forced/faked. Him claiming that the gun fired itself with no trigger pull from him is total BS. Him trying to sell himself as a victim is beyond belief.
At the end of our shift at one base, we had to turn our M1's in to the armory. There was a 55 gallon drum full of sand used as a clearing barrel and an E_6 supervising the clearing of aIl weapons. The last thing you did while the weapon was still in the drum was to pull the trigger to show it was properly cleared. I was next in line when the fellow in front of me pulled the trigger. The sound echoed throughout the room and sand dust came out the opening of the clearing barrel. Despite all that and at least 20 witnesses, the guy said, "I didn't do that." Both he and the supervisor lost a stripe and got letters of reprimand. Sure Alec, you didn't do that.

I know that back in the day, single action revolvers were supposed to be loaded 'one less than capacity' with the empty chamber up, to prevent a jolt, or a dropped firearm from discharging. But it's my understanding that they've been manufactured with a safety bar that block the hammer from impacting the cart until the firearm is actually cocked. I don't see how a modern SAA revolver, used on a movie set could spontaneously fire, under any circumstance (other than dropping it etc. after it was cocked)

It's just gonna make me wonder if he even cares that he killed someone. I really don't think he does, and don't understand how a perpetrator gets to give an interview that would taint any potential jury pool before a trial.

What I would like to see is that they move the trial outside of Calipornia or NewHorkCity to a place where people know guns don't kill people. That's a trial I want to watch. He can spout all the nonsense he wants in Texas, Montana, or Idaho and think he has the jury won over until they practice knot tying in court during closing arguments.
