Alec Baldwin - UPDATE

As a follow up to my earlier post, NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY that has ever handled a gun, is going to pass a pistol that is already cocked to someone else. (unless they're coaxing an execution etc. and even THEN, it's a stretch) And that goes triple, for a person that is responsible for firearm safety in a controlled environment like a movie set.

If they did, they'd never work again.

It happened in New Mexico so I doubt California or New York would be considered

The killer (i.e. Alec Baldwin) may NOT have pulled the trigger as he suggests...

Crazy, I know...

If you partially pull the trigger back without fully cocking, and LET GO, it will snap back in place and discharge the weapon...

So,

He MAY be telling the truth, but is even more at fault because he is just trying to obfuscate his culpability...

If you didn't own a car but someone drove their car through a parade killing 6 and injuring 50.... you could still see it was intentional though, right?

This kind of pistol doesn't just "go off".

All I've got in single action are a couple of .22's. My GAS is now kicking in for a .45LC.

Trying to decide if I should get a Colt SAA or settle for an Italian clone. Anybody have an opinion?

So all politics and bullshit aside...what are we accusing Baldwin of doing? Obviously, he was holding a gun that went off and killed someone. That's not in doubt. Are we arguing that it was intentional and he should be charged with murder? Or are we arguing that it was negligent and he should be charged with either manslaughter or reckless endangerment? Or are we just saying we don't like him because he can be douchey and we are reveling in his situation? Just trying to get a better understanding of what we're discussing here. Thanks in advance.

Guns don't "go off" and he's admitted to holding it/being the shooter.

I wasn't there, and don't know if he actually shot anyone. No one here knows anything except what they're told happened. JUST like you, so no one here is "accusing" him of anything. He's already admitted to being responsible, but he has yet to take responsibility. Like you, he's still blaming the gun.

I don't think anyone could argue it was premeditated and thus he shouldn't be charged with 1st degree murder. He can and should be charged for manslaughter for his reckless behavior in pointing a gun at someone and pulling the trigger regardless of it being on a movie set or a prop gun.

Well, then, he certainly could not possibly be charged with reckless homicide! He needs to be canonized as soon as he dies. We must remember what is important. Why are we concerned about some poor woman shot dead in her prime by an thespian with a loaded gun?
