And also factoring in UKs unusual 8 of 12 home gm schedule and the fact that we dont play LSU, Ole Miss, Bama or A & M is 9-3 now a more realistic prognostication than before the season?
I think it definately is.
If you disagree please explain yourself.

The schedule is definitely favorable, but I don't think we're there yet...especially offensively.

The only game that seems completely out of reach is in Athens, but I still think 8-4 is probably our ceiling for this season. If we get that, I'll be thrilled.

If we make some improvements over the course of the season, instead of hitting a wall like last year, then 9-3 won't seem as crazy as it (sort of) does now.

Explain your prognostication then on 9 wins?

@Miss State, Tennessee and @Georgia I can see being losses.
Dak Prescott is still a factor, 2 point loss to LSU
UT lost a close on at home vs Oklahoma and only by one point in the Swamp.
Georgia maybe representing the SEC this year in the playoff.

Auburn and L'ville are iffy to win both. More likely to split.

What he said; Ga it will take a special game for all three phases of the game..ms.st.would be a little easier but still take a great game...tn and au.both are better then mizz.. Vandy could even end up being a struggle..

I will take 7-5 and be happy. Anything above that is gravy. This is still the SEC. Injuries could happen and there is always the chance of losing a game we should win. I would love to go into the Louisville not needing a win for a bowl game. Without that pressure, Louisville is very winnable. I like the idea of 8-4 though.

Too early to be thinking 9 win season. Too early to ASSUME 7. I think we will win at least 7, but we are young still. Last season we all but had a bowl game locked up with 6 games to go, but couldn't find a way to win one. We are a better team, but in FB anything can happen. We are better than some of our remaining competition, but not SO much better that we can assume Wins ahead of time.

And one other thing. We can't just look at what the other teams have done up to this point. UK didn't look good last Sat. against UF. I'm sure a lot of Missou fans were thinking they would beat us this week because "UK isn't a very good offensive team", yet we came out last night a clicked on all cylinders. The same CAN happen against us. Take a team like Auburn. They haven't looked very good so far...but they do have talent. On any given night it can all work. MSU is also unpredictable. Each and every conference game from here on out will be a big challenge including Vandy.

I basically did explain why I think 9-3 is very doable.
The 8 of 12 home gms. The fact that we do not have Ole Miss, LSU, Bama or TAM on our schedule .
Also, I dont get all the Louisville love.
I realize its a rivalry gm but its at home and Louisville is simply not a good football team.

UK is 3-1. I could make the case that they should be 4-0, but no FBS win is a given for this team this year. Our games have been close and will continue to be. Vandy has a defense, that is one thing I have noticed in four weeks. UGA runs the heck out of the ball and run defense has not been a strength for the past few years. UT has a very good offense with a running QB and two stud RBs (again, out defense will need to be perfect). Auburn and MSU maybe 50:50 games for this team.

One game at a time.

We are now a very dangerous fbt.
Our defense is very good and now our O is starting to click.
You take that and factor in the 8 home gms., who we dont play and the recent struggles of UT and AU and Im smelling a New Years Day Outback Bowl!
CracKY!

It's fun to predict what could happen. I find myself just wanting to focus on EKU and get a nice homecoming win in which players who don't get much time get some reps in live action.

Auburn & UL are hot garbage, you have to be so miserable and full of bitterness to say us beating them is iffy and we will lose 1 of them

Put down the basketball and watch some damn football and educate yourself better

UT lost to UF after putting up 27 points and lost to OU. I think we should realize they are a very good football team.

You can easily see a path to 8 wins:

Take care of Eastern, Charlotte, and Vanderbilt and you have six.

Split with Miss State, Auburn, Tennessee, and Louisville and that gets you to eight. Very, very doable - especially with our defense playing the way it is now and continuing to improve. In fact, 3 out 4 here isn't out of the question.

And that's all even if you assume we lose at Georgia, which I'm not ready to do yet.

Pretty much the way I see it except I am assuming a loss at Georgia. I also think winning at MSU unlikely. If so it comes down to Auburn, UT, and UL with two of those in Lexington. Win all 3 we get 9 wins, lose all 3, 6 wins.

I was watching Miss St play Auburn last night on one of the tv's at my buddies. He has 4 tv's and 4 games going at once. Miss St has a very good defense, at least they showed that last night. It carried them for the W.
Their O is decent and their QB is outstanding and his line did a good job of keeping his jersey clean. He hit Recievers where they could catch the ball and make a play. Albeit they had no other special players on O but they looked solid on O.
They looked like a team that should be ranked around 25 or so.
Vandy has a very good defense. If they get their O turned around then I'd see them winning some games. I wouldn't be surprised if they beat SC and Missoui and give Florida a scare. Not to mention us and UT, they are not hot garbage but just need some guys to step up and make some plays for em.

Besides the 2 gimmie games UL is the next weakest team we play. Ya I think Vandy could beat them now.

Actually all three (Auburn, UT an UL) are in Lexington!

I don't know if it's a Kentucky thing or a message board thing, but it's always interesting to watch this board after a game. After last weeks game we weren't even going to make it to a bowl....now we're rolling to the most regular season wins in 30 years.

To the OP, I think 9 wins is possible, but it's a bit of a stretch. I think every game from here on out is winnable (though odds are long for UGA in athens), and every game except Charlotte and EKU is losable. I think everyone would be happy with beating EKU, Vandy, and Charlotte and then splitting the other four.

From my perspective, UT is very good, but their in-game coaching is abysmal. They get very conservative with a lead in the 4th quarter, would be interesting to see if they behave similarly against a team that they feel that they "should beat" which is how they feel about UK. Auburn looks terrible, we just have to hope that they don't "figure it out" before arriving at CWS. Miss st is better than expected. That's going to be a tough game, but it's possible to get a win. Hoping for a noon kick in starkville. UL has looked bad, but again, it's early in the season. Their game at NCST will tell us a lot about how the rest of their season will go, IMO. If I were betting on it, I'd probably go 7-5, but hoping for 8 or 9.

JHB4UK yeah and MO just squeaked by 3 point win vs UCONN, not their basketball team.

UL game is a rivalry, there's a lot games to play between now and then for them to right their ship and what's scum butt Petrino's record vs UK?
They lost 3 games but it's not like they was blowouts especially with a 3 point loss to Clemson.

Hell if South Carolina looks like a different team now with true frosh QB Nunez.
