Team Records and Series Notes
  • Kentucky is now 14-3, 3-1 in the Southeastern Conference. Texas A&M is 13-4 overall, 2-2 in league play.
  • Kentucky leads the series 14-6.
    • UK leads 8-2 in games played in Lexington and has won the last six.
  • Mark Pope is 201-111 as head coach, including 14-3 at Kentucky.
  • Next for Kentucky: the Wildcats take on their third straight Top-15 ranked opponent Saturday when Alabama comes to Rupp Arena. Game time is set for noon and it will air on ESPN.
    • It will be the first time since 1994 that UK plays three consecutive Top-15 foes. In ’94, UK defeated No. 11 Massachusetts 67-64 (East Rutherford, N.J.); lost at home to No. 3 Arkansas, 90-82; and lost at No. 14 Syracuse, 93-85.

Team Notes
  • The Cats improve to 5-0 this season against AP Top-15 opponents. The five wins against teams ranked inside the top 15 are the most in the country.
  • Kentucky has won all 14 games this season when scoring at least 70 points.
  • All nine Wildcats who played also scored.
  • Kentucky won the rebounding 40-30, only the third time this season that TAMU has been outrebounded and the +10 margin is the largest vs. the Aggies this season.
    • Texas A&M entered the game with an average margin of +9.9 per game.
    • TAMU also has been dominant on the offensive boards and UK won second-chance points, 13-11.
  • Kentucky had 19 assists on 24 made baskets, an assist rate of 79.2 percent.

Player Notes
  • Jaxson Robinson had a game-high 22 points, his second consecutive outing with at least 20. He also had a career-high-tying eight rebounds.
    • Robinson’s 49 points in the last two games are his most in a two-game stretch during his college career
    • He is the first player to score 20 points in consecutive games this season
  • Andrew Carr had 13 points on 6 of 9 shooting. He has scored in double figures in 13 of 17 games this season.
  • Otega Oweh had 11 points and has scored in double figures in every game this season.
    • He also had three steals. He has multiple steals in 10 games this season, including five straight.
  • Amari Williams had eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds. He has seven games with double-digit boards this season.
  • Lamont Butler had six points and a game-high seven assists. It was his ninth game this season with at least five assists, including three of four SEC games.
  • Koby Brea has made a 3-pointer in every game this season and 32-straight contests overall.
  • Travis Perry hit a pair of 3-pointers early in the second half for a season-best six points.

In the First Half
  • Kentucky’s starters were Lamont Butler, Jaxson Robinson, Otega Oweh, Andrew Carr and Amari Williams. UK has a 12-3 record with this lineup.
  • Koby Brea was the first substitution at 16:07.
  • Kentucky had an 11-6 lead when the Wildcats went cold for more than five minutes and Texas A&M went on a 12-0 spurt for a 18-11 lead.
  • A TAMU technical foul broke the streak as UK hit a free throw at 8:14.
  • Kentucky rallied to tie at 22 and again at 32 before Robinson hit a 3-pointer with four seconds left to send the Wildcats to a 35-32 halftime lead. He led UK in the first half with 15 points.
    • UK is now 12-0 this season when leading at halftime.
    • UK is 5-0 against TAMU in Rupp Arena when leading at halftime.

In the Second Half
  • Kentucky began the second half with the starters.
  • Oweh opened the scoring with a pair of free throws and Travis Perry hit a 3-pointer to make it 40-32 and Texas A&M called timeout at 18:07.
  • Robinson hit a 3-pointer, completing a 13-0 run that spanned the halves.
  • Kentucky took the advantage to 13 points at 56-43.
  • Texas A&M closed within 59-53 but free throws by Williams and a baseline jumper by Robinson quelled the advance.
  • From there, Texas A&M got no closer than eight and Kentucky stretched the lead to as many as 14 points.

January Blues

Man, this is when we want our team to be good and confident. Sure, you might take a loss, crap happens. But now we are starting to have doubts about how far we can go, if Pope is too nice or not mean enough, if our guys really care, etc.

It's cold as a tombstone, more crap weather coming, dark, sad with Carter lying in State, etc. On top of that I slept through the game.

What a crappy way to end the day.
