Out of Patience

Since the end of the season we have lost our Director of Player Development(head of NIL deals), Video Coordinator,Assistant Coach, and eight players seven if Reeves stays which we should have had an answer on that already.I have watched portal after portal options go elsewhere without even pursuing them, we have basically seven players and none of them have any meaningful college experience. It is June. 6th and the program is heading down a dangerous road and none of the issues are being addressed. This falls on the nine million dollar a year man’s shoulders and he is too busy living in the past going to NBA games and getting his face on TV, or eating dinner with old friends out of town somewhere. I was a big supporter of Cal but I have seen through his little charade he still can turn it around but time and options are running out.We are the the University of Kentucky and to be in this situation at this late date is inexcusable. What the hell is he doing.

Cal’s #1 dilemma going forward…

Is he is to going to have to swallow his ego and his pride and settle on the best 8 dudes to accomplish the mission of competing for a Championship with the players that are best suited for that task!

That’s not to say that the #9 or #10 guys won’t contribute along the way, but if he is serious about a second Title, he needs to put the NBA draft night BS behind him until he commits to that goal.

He has the team. He has the staff. He will ultimately make or break this by his own devices!

Defense

All 6 SEC teams we have played have scored their most or tied for the most points in conference play against us.

One of the worst defensive teams I’ve seen in a long time. Cant stay in front of anybody, can’t defend pick and roll, over help and get burnt, then just get lost occasionally

Welp… a new low for the program

The home loss to UNCW followed by other inevitable tough road game defeats was going to make it hard any way, but tonight probably locked it. This team just got abused by a bubble team.

Now this program is looking at a decade without a 1 seed in the dance. The longest streak was 1984-1993. That also included years of probation. Think about that. Highest paid coach in the sport… 10 years and not a 1 seed.

Come on Cal sychophants… get your call sheet of quips ready.

This team, which has elite talent, will find its way to way too many losses.

Guess it’s a good thing only March counts.

Btw,
Cal is only 10-6 in the NCAA since his last 1 seed. Clearly he’s killing it come money time so no need to worry about the easier path a 1 seed offers 😂

Some history on playing time for struggling freshmen under Cal

in light of Edward’s’ struggles, thought it would be interesting to look over some past freshmen who I remember struggled during their time here, and how their minutes changed over time. This is by no means an exhaustive list, and I didn’t look to see if there were other factors that might have also impacted their minutes.

Cal more than wrong on Edwards

Seems to me like the best thing that could happen to Justin Edwards is for Cal to have enough humility to admit his mistake and let Justin come off the bench. It is unfair to him the amount of pressure put on him by Cat fans and the news media by, so far, not living up to expectations. He would have so much less pressure coming off the bench plus I believe the fans would start to rally around him and root for him to be successful. I am sure he is a good kid but the pressure has to be enormous! Come on Cal, do the right thing.

This Team Has No Chance To Go Far

This is the kind of game you will get in the NCAA Tournament. A tough half court game. If you can only play one on one while playing mediocre defense, you'll struggle to get out of the first weekend. Every single game we see wide open 3's by our opponents and we struggle to get open for ours against good defense. I've never seen a coach be this pitiful at teaching half court offense. It's been that way pretty much his whole time here.

This dribble drive offense just doesn't work well anymore. Plus it looks like we aren't even practicing defense with how bad we look. Players are getting lost and leaving guys wide open. Dillingham leaving the guy wide open in the paint while rushing out to the perimeter on the inbounds play is a prime example. All of the feel good moments from the first 3/4 of the Georgia game are a distant memory. It's been 50 straight minutes of garbage. Ten loss Cal and an early departure is inevitable with the games we have coming.
