Why are more football players playing in bowl games this year?

Teams across the country seem to have convinced more players to play in their bowl games. Ohio State and Kentucky among them. i wonder if there is a connection between this new team spirit and the advent of NIL. Are NIL businesses (previously known as boosters) including clauses in their contacts with players requiring players to play in bowl games? Just wondering.

2 Players

In my 50+ years of following UK football, I don’t think there has been a player that I have hated to see leave more than Ray Davis. Sure wish we could have had him for four years. On the other hand, I appreciate the work and the effort of Devin Leary. I wish him nothing but the best!! But the QB experiment this year has been a complete failure.

To both young men, once a Wildcat always a Wildcat.

Vanderbilt Transfers

I know they have lost a lot of skill position guys in the portal but they are also putting together a solid transfer-in class. And it's filled with several young talented guys. Not saying it's an amazing group, but a heck of a group for them.

-4* QB Nate Johnson from Utah
Was thrown in to start as a RSFR this year and was pretty good.
-Steven Losoya MSU OG, had the 2nd highest PFF grade of all SEC OL last year. A 3 year starter.
-Former 4* WR Jeremiah Dillon from Ole Miss. Didn't play as a RSFR in a stacked Ole Miss WR group.
-Khordae Sydnor Purdue EDGE, had 7 TFL, 5 sacks as a sophmore last year. Got hurt this year but still had 3 TFL and 2 sacks.
-TCU S Randon Fontonette, played this year as a true freshman with 16 tackles. Former 4*.
-Zaylin Wood MTSU DT, 19 TFL, 10 Sacks, 2 INTs, 93 tackles in 3 seasons at MTSU.
-Wyoming CB Kolbey Taylor. A big 6'3 CB who had 7 PDs this year in his first year starting.
-Marlon Jones Jr EWU CB, one of the best CBs in FCS. 9 INTs, 22 PDs, 150 tackles, 7 TFLs, and 2 TDs the last 3 seasons.
-Loic F Texas Tech WR, not really a WR1 type, but 700 yards in a few seasons at Tech and a solid, big body, depth piece.

Wondering about this because on paper it's a decent class and the transfers also are impactful guys. Feels like anything under 9 wins is a bad year, but I feel like we'd be lucky to win 8 just based on coaching. I can't be the only one who feels this way can I?
