POLL: NIL$$$ and Transfer Portal

That’s my thought as well
I did vote that I like neither, however that’s because of how they stand at this time
The portal can be a good thing, and yes it’s saving our asses this year. But it’s too free and open. A player can go to 4 different schools for their entire eligibility. Coaches have to rerecruit their players every year in addition to new commitments. I just feel like it should be better regulated…just not sure how
And NIL. I do believe in it. However..it’s totally out of hand. We’re offering players money up front to play for us. I think it should be based on performance AFTER a season
Naive, I know..but again I don’t know how you regulate that either
My thoughts exactly. Having said that, I don't think Billy Donovan or Jay Wright have the stamina to work in this landscape. They were never coming, but I don’t think they could construct a complete roster within the time given.

Amari Williams vs Villanova

Per his average, only played 23 minutes but scored 12 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and blocked 5 shots. If he can be a 12 /6/2 guy for us, with a big game every now and then, I'll be stoked.
He was so important for Pope to keep in the fold. There will be plenty of games where he gets way more minutes than Garrison because of his rebounding and defense.

Where's the Boom?

No, you didn’t. Pure speculation.
There was a tweet to that effect last night from some account that, at least from the outside, is made to appear connected. I can't find the tweet now, so it might've been deleted, but it definitely existed.

Edit: not saying it isn't speculation, but it's absolutely possible the poster saw something to their point.

Jay’viar Suggs

Might just eclipse Josh Allen’s 6th ranking in the ‘19 Class.

Won't happen. Late 1st round or 2nd.

Could he be our first number one since Tim Couch?

No. And that isn't a knock.

It’s hard to teach a player to be 6’ 6” 350 lbs. and agile!!!!!

Those are very nice tools. But not unique. Walker is an excellent player but hasn't approached the kind of player he can become. There wasn't enough improvement between 2022 and 2023. His performance in 2024 will determine how wealthy he will be in 2025.

CI Wrestling Thread #56

We still see stuff about the death of wcw 20 years later, so I always wonder if we’ll see things like the death of AEW…then you realize no one cares about AEW
Don't really like the AEW product right now. They're getting around a million unique viewers across all of their shows each week. That isn't "no one." I understand that for someone of your caliber the English language is very difficult (no disrespect of course) but.....a million people isn't "no one." Much like Dragon a few of you fall on the opposite end of AEW extremism where they can do no right.

Alright let's be objective here and move on. Much love.

Vito Tisdale transferring

He wouldn't see the field for us. Our safety room is far and away better than he ever was. He was aggressive but reckless. For every play he made, he gave up 3.

I get that he's a ky kid, but we have two other ky kids at safety that are much better and have a real chance to play on Sundays.

Basically, I agree. Tisdale has decent size and physical tools, but in my experience so-called "4 star prospects" from the state of KY usually (not always) tend to be overrated because of the level of instate competition. But all of this misses the key issue. Tisdale was already dismissed from Mark Stoops' football program for violating team rules, and the scuttlebutt at the time was that it wasn't his first transgression. He doesn't have a pathway back in. So the point is moot.

Nike Peach Jam over; 2023, 2024, 2025 targets recruiting followup

The future looks so bright under Pope, can't wait. I fully expect us to land 2 or 3 among Riley, johnson, Moreno, Peterson. Someone else referred to this seasons team as a Frankenstein team, which I fully agree with. It will take a couple of years to see how he fully coaches and recruits, but atleast the journey will be exciting and hopeful as opposed to Cal's last bunch of years.
