Kerr Kriisa's assists today

We are all going to have to learn to accept the bad with the good when it comes to Kerr. You can't have the flashy, incredible assists without some turnovers too. Nature of the beast.

Speaking of beast, Butler on defense. Best defensive guard we have had in a while.

I suspect in a tight game, key possession.... we might see Butler just because of the defense and more sure ball handling.

Koby is an assassin.
It’s crazy that Brea could miss his next eight three pointers and still be shooting a better percentage than he did last season

And should’ve. Careless. It’s an interesting dynamic. Butler isn’t much of a passer or facilitator. Not much of a finisher, but he is capable of getting downhill. And boy can he defend. But Kriisa is the straw that stirs the drink when he’s in. After watching four games I honestly think the best lineup is Kriisa/Brea/Robinson/Oweh/Williams. The top 7 are all interchangeable. I think there’s a pretty significant drop off after that. I know some are enamored with Garrison, but he’s pretty rough. Almonor and Chandler are limited. Of the three, I think Almonor has the biggest chance to make an impact this season. Knocks down shots and has extremely high IQ on the court.
Garrison can get a little selfish at times trying to make a move down low when the defense has collapsed on him instead of kicking it out to a wide open shooter. He missed a little hook jumper over three guys while Brea stood all by himself at the top of the key. Have seen similar from him three or four times so far.

That’s an instant replay of lines he used at UK. Yeesh, the dude’s been coaching for over four decades and still acts like zones are some newfangled thing he hasn’t had a fair chance to prepare for yet.

He’s become an excuse machine.
Yes he has, it’s ridiculous he says the same stuff year after year. Like did you not notice this last year? Why aren’t you teaching it this year!???

Chandler is barely a step above our freshmen in terms of experience but he has the frame and athleticism to br something in year 2 and 3. Just needs to be able to have some kind of consistent offense.

Almonor is a great backup to have who is a 3pt threat when others are getting a breather. Garrison is a good size body with five fouls and great effort. Unless one of these three guys somehow becomes a locker room problem (basically unthinkable with the team coach pope has put together) it is a blessing that they are guys 8 through 10.

On that note, I present to you…

Some things just stay the same…

One thing to point out. If Baylor was hot from 3, they would have won by 10-14-maybe even 20 points. The 2nd half, Baylor was cold from beyond the arc. However once it got below 2 minutes, and Baylor had the lead; I told the guys watching the game that it was over…why? Because I’ve watched us squander the opportunities to fight back by poor play selection (aka: nonexistent) and horrid defense. Then terrible game management by NOT to calling a timeout to draw up a real play to ger points. It was a bonefide Cal clinic.
That’s so true, they missed a ton of wide open shots.

How did we beat Ole Miss?

Same reason we played UGA tough…early season.

Been saying for a while now. We need to play the tougher teams earlier. Before they hit mid season form.

First, CMS historically starts off hot.

Second, he’s pretty one dimensional and doesn’t, evolve, adapt, add in this, change out that, etc…so by about the mid season and especially once teams get a bye, they got him figured out. Honestly it’s not rocket science. Hate to go all Bob Knight cliche, but just score on CMS. His teams aren’t built to maintain small leads nor come back from being down.

Third, big bad teams start slow. All across CFB there are close games and upsets early season.

Calipari

This became every year under Cal.

That's why I started saying that he was just supergluing teams together.

Didn't matter the skill set, just take your definition of the most talented players available, regardless of anything else. Now you've got 3 or 4 seven footers, and you're playing a college 4 at the 3 spot. Oh, and your PG can't shoot.
I don’t even think they are the most talented, just the most hyped or highest ranked.

OT Farrrrr Smart!!!

The Lane Kiffen train has been coming for a while.

Always been a fan of his. He’s got his quirks and he’s had his bumps in the road, but overall he finds players and wins.

The pace Kirby was on there for a few years is unsustainable. Especially in today’s SEC. Top to bottom there’s just too many good coaches with too much fire power.

I mean look what Bama did to LSU. Brian Kelly is no schlep, and LSU has dudes…Deboer looked like he was in the PAC again just scoring at will.

It’s going to be interesting going forward watching top tier programs and how they adjust their expectations in the new era of football.

The glory days of a couple programs just running conferences and title hunting for 5,6,7 years are done.

Way too early Aike Model Results - 11/10/24

We are playing so well that I was curious what we would look like mathematically at this point.

It’s way too early for the “score” to make much sense - weird anomalies based on one-off results. For example, Vandy has an 18/1 assist/turnover ratio after one game. Keep that up and you can hand them the trophy. 😂

Also, SOS is not all that informative when very few of the teams are yet linked.

Directionally though, this can at least give you some sense of who is playing well or poorly, even after a couple of games.

So here are a few select teams and where they currently fall:

4. Auburn
10. Kentucky
14. Duke
15. Kansas
18. Tennessee
24. St. John’s
27. Alabama
30. Louisville
32. Arkansas

Again, take all of these with heavy doses of salt, and expect substantial changes in the coming weeks.

Let's see if Trump improves on this good economy or if he runs it into the ground like his casinos, marriages and last time in office.
