POLITICAL THREAD

Not sure if posted, this is great stuff. Numbers 1-4 are perfect. Found a lot of the new Vivek/Musk WSJ op-ed interesting. Highlighting some things, including one way to decrease the number of federal employees is to mandate they come to the office 5 days a weeks haha. Really like this, ready for them to get to work. Just saw @screwduke1 saw this first. Give me one of your silver medals jerk.

Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk have published a joint op-ed piece in the WSJ outlining their plans for the Department of Government Efficiency. Full TLDR and summary below:

1) They're going to build a lean legal team to work with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to apply the precedent set by two court cases:

- West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency (2022)
- Loper Bright v. Raimondo (2024)

That found that current federal regulations exceed the authority Congress has granted under the law to regulations agencies passed that they feel overstep their powers. They'll present them to Trump who can then issue an executive order to pause and/or rescind those regulations.

They're aware that critics will allege overreach but it's actually helping *prevent* overreach. They're also aware that executive orders aren't the best way to do things, but it's the best tool they have at the moment. Once the laws are fully rescinded, a future president couldn’t revive them themselves, but would have have to go through Congress.

2) They're also going to work with agency insiders to figure out the minimum number of federal employees necessary for the agencies to function and cut down to that number. The cuts will be proportionate to the number of regulations that are nullified. Terminated employees will be given generous severance packages.

One immediate thing they'll do is mandate federal employees come to the office five days a week which will create some voluntary termination of employees.
Vivek and Elon explain that it is legal for them to do this reduction.

3) They're going to examine the $500B+ plus annual federal expenditures that are unauthorized by Congress i.e.

- $535 million a year to Public Broadcasting
- $1.5 billion for grants to international organizations
- $300 million to Planned Parenthood.

4) They're going to do large scale audits.
Citing that the Pentagon has failed every single audit it sever had and they manage a $800B budget that we have no idea how is spent. They want to examine that.

5) They want to conclude and disband DOGE by July 4, 2026. The ultimate gift for the 250th anniversary of The United States of America.

This is coming from his fellow Republicans....

They've really really told you to be outraged about this.

Meanwhile, you still haven't figured out your party doesn't give a rats ass about anything but power, especially not making any policy for the ppl:

The Ukraine war. (Yes, we'll mind our manners)

So Biden wasn't coherent enough to run for reelection, right? Which means he's not coherent to be President, but somehow he can just decide to order that missiles can be fired off in his last two months in office.

Makes sense.

I assume the "putin will take over the world" crowd will pivot once again and say "nah no big deal, putin is just bluffing about escalating"

The AI thread

I love how all the TV commercials for AI - whether it's Google's AI or Apple's or anybody else's - have tiny fine print that says you, the user, should verify everything the AI tells you because they can't guarantee that it's accurate.

When the large language models use the entirety of the internet - and the internet is full of BS - then much of what the AIs spit out will also be BS.

On a technical forum I participate in, one of the users asked a tech question to one of the AI services. The answer was complete garbage. The user then queried the AI to show the sources it used for the answer. It immediately returned a list of sources. Several of them were not even real. It made them up. It was like a kid getting caught lying and doubling down by lying some more.

Idiotic AP Voters with Duke still ahead of Kentucky (Week 3)

Kentucky made its largest leap EVER in the AP poll this week--10 spots from #19 to #9.

However, a few voters had absolutely dumbfounding ranking regarding Kentucky...here are the highlights:

Randy Heitz (who?!) 107.7 The Franchise: Kentucky #17 and Duke #7 -- was he in a coma last week?!

Parth Upadhyaya (the Daily Memphian): Kentucky #13 and Duke #8 -- was he/she in India watching cricket?!

Peter Rauterkus (AL.com): Kentucky #13 and Duke #8 -- Alabama bias?

Marcus Fuller (St. Paul Pioneer Press): Kentucky #10 and Duke #9 -- those two teams just played each other you know!

No other voter had Duke ranked ahead of UK...full list here: https://collegepolltracker.com/basketball/grid/2024/week-3

Cal's honeymoon at Arkansas is already over

Just watched a video from 2 Arky fans who had been excited and hopeful with the Cal hire, and they are already despondent. I don't think there was one thing said by them that I disagreed with. In 4 games, they are already where most of us were at when he finally left. They talked about how his style is boring, he isn't developing guys like he used to, needs better assistants, that he won't change, etc. I think his stay there is going to be much shorter than anyone expected. This is a different video, but go to 2:45 and hear them talk about how right UK fans were

Im sure most people heard about this already
Love D Anderson and I happy he made it out big. My favorite Cat ever honestly. I have a couple favorites, but he’s my childhood favorite. I remember Mashburn, but I really remember the 1996 team vividly. I don’t remember games when I was 6 or 7 like I did when I was 10.

Cal's honeymoon at Arkansas is already over

I’m in an SEC group on Facebook. I told them what to expect when they hired Cal:

Boring, archaic offense that labors to score 70 points against a team with a pulse
M2M defense 100 percent of the time even if they suck at it
High ranked recruits who are high on measurables and short on basketball skills and IQ
Stubborn coach who knows it all and will belittle anyone who dares question his greatness

I got called a hater and jealous ex.

Now, several piggies have told me they sadly think I might’ve been correct.
Yup and more and more will see it as the year goes on.

What shoes are most of the guys wearing?

I have several pairs of MJ 1's and 3's, a pair of 4's and a pair of 11's.

I'm unsure how jordan ever played in 1's..not a comfortable shoe at all. He's feet had to of bled wearing them
I’m wearing the six rings right now. They have unbelievable ankle support, they are tight fitting but I can see why they would be great to play in. My favorites just to wear are the 4’s, 12, and 13.

OT: Twitter in Absolute Shambles

Amazing. X more closely resembles the real world and liberals freak out. They don't understand what life is like outside of their echo chambers. LOL.
It's funny, bc every now and then all these left wing ppl try to go occupy a different social media app to yell at each other in an echo chamber and it always collapses. When musk first bought twitter they went to some app called Mastadon, and now they're going to some app called bluesky as if it it hurts X in some way. But anyway, it's going how you would think over there:
