Zvonimir Ivisic Speaks

I have no idea if the kid is legitimately supposed to be legible or not. But this has gone on far too long for the NCAA to not have a ruling one way or another. What exactly is the NCAA doing at this juncture that is causing a ruling to still be pending? It’s ridiculous.

Do we know for a fact that the NCAA is the holdup here? I'd love for UK to make a statement, but it's really none of our business, so for us nosey types we're left to speculate. IMO the NCAA make a decision, and Z is preparing us for the inevitable :(

I have no idea. By all accounts, UK is awaiting word on his eligibility. I will never understand why the process of making such determination is such an ordeal.

While we're not likely to see Z play because of the process, the NCAA probably isn't around for much longer. So we have that! It's no longer about the student-athletes, so there's no need for an entity overseeing such.

But high school players can get NIL money in Missouri. Why doesn’t the NCAA outlaw this?

I think it's now clear that there were issues with him being an eligible college athlete. I'm as skeptical of the NCAA as anyone, but I think the issues were too much to overcome. There was even a long delay with him just getting on campus. I feel like everyone lambasting the NCAA in this case is likely misguided or uniformed.

Let's say that's the case. Why not come out and say he's ineligible.

That's where I think the NCAA is going wrong here.

It's just so ridiculous to me.

The NCAA, who claims to be all about the student-athlete is essentially putting this kid and his future into limbo currently. It's not fair to Big Z.

If I'm him, I'm thinking well just let me know. I can I play here that's great lets go. If I can't play here I can at least go back to Europe and start plan B. Instead he's just sitting there wondering.

I get that UK waited awhile and the NCAA obviously needs time to review everything but I feel like we've gotten past a reasonable review time here.

I do not blame the NCAA. I blame coaching staff that waited till the last minute to recruit a foreign quasi professional who did not meet all the academic requirements.

All the disinformation this summer about it was a slam dunk if academic office would just wave their magic wand is indicative of staff attitudes and why it's been a cluster.
It’s an NCAA issue. UK assumed he was worth the risk and by all accounts he is. We’ve lost nothing. We could potentially gain a lot. The university admitted him and it doesn’t matter if they drug their feet or not. They could have admitted him last year and he still won’t be eligible.

I'd say that Z going back to Croatia during the season is a sign that we'll never get to see him play. Conference play is right around the corner. I really hate to see Ivisic have to go through this scenario and the uncertainty during his time here.

UCLA had that kid committed in April. He passed all the necessary requirements and was in class in September. They had a 3 month or more headstart. Still didn't get approved to play till a month ago.

We waited too long.

Again, he is in the middle of a lawsuit regarding a professional contract. This isn't that complicated. UK admissions advised Zvonomir made it in time. Z committed on the same day one year later than Ugo. It wasn't a matter of waiting too long. Regardless, NCAA has to review paperwork for eligibility. UK admitted him as a student.

If you have an agenda good for you, it doesn't pass the stink test.

I wonder if he doesnt get cleared if it ends up hurting UK going after foreign players. I could see other teams using that against us "Why go to Kentucky when they wont approve you to play there"

Its absurd.

Sounds like BigZ really wants to be here. I think he put this out with the blessing and assistance of UK. To quiet the rumors, and make clear to the NCAA he is not "folding" his cards and heading home.

A poster on HOB (not a paid insider) claimed he spoke with BigZ yesterday, and he told the poster he was only going home to see his family and would be back to UK. (TIFWIW)

I get the sense from all thats out there, is this is a gray area... and probably not one particular issue. More about the various dotting of I's and T's that still have to get done. And all the current issues are NOT just the NCAA. Could still be some UK admin/compliance things to get resolved.
Kid has been in school nearly two months and has respectable grades. What else could he be lacking at this point?

Even if he gets denied eligibility, I'd hate it and be skeptical of the decision, but at least we'd all be able to move on. To not have ANY decision at all is simply ridiculous. That's especially true when the young man is seemingly doing everything he can to be a good teammate and college student/athlete.

Today the NCAA basically sends out a tweet saying blank you, have a safe and happy holiday to this case. What a crock of sh—, the inconsistency of the NCAA, ridiculous.
