Yet another Jaylen Brown thread, but I'm a bit confused.

Cal is a crap program that gets no attention. Fine. KU has too many SF's competing for time. UK has all the exposure and minutes available in the world. UM's recruiting class is even worse than UNC, if that is even possible. They are comng off a terrible year with a suspect team. Where can this kid go but UK unless he has no business mind AT ALL. I expect him to be a Cat or to clearly show he isn't the brightest bulb. He could follow the great genius, Malik Newman and prefer to be THE man on a crap team. If so, congratulations.

Michigan is adding Derrick Walton, Caris LeVert, D.J. Wilson (top 100 redshirt recruit) and Duncan Robinson back to their team this year. It's not like Michigan is going to be bad. Kentucky is going to be better, but when you add in the family ties to the state of Michigan and the Adidas affiliation with the fact that Michigan should be decent, you can see why Michigan is still a player.

Seriously competing for a national title doesn't mean much for assorted members of this recruiting class.

Either that, or they're simply delusional about what it takes to actually win a college national title.

The longer this drags on, the worse I think it is for Michigan. Beilein and company have done a pretty bad job at closing on their top targets lately (Devin Booker, James Blackmon, etc.). The longer Cal has to do is thing, the more I worry.

Didn't Michigan lose to NJIT with most of their team intact?

Yes. Yes they did. Michigan is trash.

They did, but that's when the 5 freshmen were all pretty bad. Dawkins, Abdur-Rahkman, and Doyle took some nice strides and became decent players by the end of the year. Put LeVert and Walton back into the rotation and it's not bad.

Crappy previous seasons do not preclude elite kids from choosing those same schools. Just ask UNLV and Mississippi State.

What the University of California at Berkeley has going for them is that they signed Ivan Rabb, a 6'10" PF who, IMHO, is in the same class with Skal and Diallo.

Plus, Michigan trumpets itself as a school of high academic tradition, but Michigan isn't in the same class with Cal Berkeley, academically.

Just MHO, of course.

I may be way out in left field on this but it is about opinions. I think some kids get caught up in what the family wants instead of what they need to do to better themselves. Any family would want the kid to stay close to them for various reasons, yet for his future draft status UK would market him in a brighter light. jmo

I don't think that Rabb is nearly as skilled as Skal or nearly as aggressive as Diallo.

Don't waste your breath trying to explain the NJIT loss to people who clearly don't follow Big Ten basketball. Just mention that the team that lost to NJIT took Wisconsin to overtime. And the core of that team is back. Add to that Adidas + Mom = Michigan is front runner.
