I'd give up several basketball wins a year to kick Louisville's, miserable, sorry, good for nothing, lying,. cheating, crybaby asses in football and basketball every year, and see their moronic, extra Y chromosome, criminal, welfare cheating, idiot, crybaby fans bitch and cry about it.

I am just as big a UK football fan as I am basketball fan. I would feel the same way no matter if the success of the programs were reversed.
I care about our football program every bit as much if not even more than our BB program. Always have, with that said not exactly sure. tough question. I'd definitely trade 5 even 7 years of mediocrity if it meant an SEC championship in football and a spot in the title game. But a full 10 years? Not exactly sure. Passing UCLA in titles (which will happen before Cal retires IMO) is definitely my top sports goal to go along with UK football title and a bengals Super Bowl/Reds World Series.
Hopefully the clunker against Kansas State was a trade off for Kentucky bearing Florida some time in the next 30 years. I would still bet against it.

This thread proves Kentuckians care more about basketball and wouldn’t trade it for football success. Football is great too but it will never be the favored sport in this state. Hopefully both will be successful one day but on their own merits.
I would do that too. (shut down the football program to pass UCLA in basketball titles)
I'd give up a regular season basketball win or two for a football title.
Probably 1 (non-rival) regular season basketball win for an SEC football title.
That's about as far as I would go.
Most, not all but most, Kentucky fans became Ky. fans because of the unmatched success of our incredible basketball tradition, myself included.
I love both sports, and no, I would never trade any of our basketball success for the sake of our football program. Our basketball program is what defines us as a university, much like football defines Alabama.

With that said, you don't trade being King of something and give up or lessen your position at the top of the hill to be above average but not top dog in 2 sports.
A couple big time seasons in football isn't worth even one final 4 imo Bc it isn't going to make us knock off bama or crack the top 5 all time.
However, a question of flip flopping our history and us essentially being Alabama (where we are still historically king in one and average in the other), now that would be a very debateable question imo.
I'll take the sure thing and continue to improve our grip on the throne though.

I'd gladly trade some of the basketball success if it would give us a national title in volleyball and softball. softball plays today. We are in the super regionals against Oregon !! Go Cats ! Go Big Blue !!
