Word is Bradshaw playing Nov 24

That could easily be PR type stuff though.

In Bradshaw's own words, he was going to be back a few months ago. Cal has been using the couple of weeks statement since around Madness or the Blue/White game and both of them were over a month ago.

Not to mention the extreme desire to add Z so late in the season.

There has been no indication Bradshaw has even practiced with the team yet.

I was onboard that Bradshaw would play, but now I am leaning that he won't.
I’m still on team he plays, I think he plays by the Miami game

I thought the NCAA had 45 days once he applied to play? Isn't that decision like next week? We should know by then if Z will be available.
That will certainly help!

Highly, highly unlikely given that he has not practiced with the team yet and that game is a week away. The earliest he would see game action at this point is Penn on the 9th. And that is if he practices soon and there are no hiccups along the way.

Fair, going on how he is acting and how involved he is with his teammates and him posting on social media acting like he is going to play. His energy and vibe is way different than sharpes
Def agree.

By all accounts he’s been an awesome teammate and ambassador from the get go. It’s the one thing that has me holding out hope we see him play. Whereas Sharpe just hid in the shadows and let other people talk for him the whole time.

I don’t think it’s highly unlikely he Doesn’t need 10 practices he need a couple, they are already having him do conditioning stuff

He hinted at 4-6 weeks in the summer it’s now been five months. No one wants him to play more than I do but I’m allowed to feel different than you. We aren’t going to share the same opinion on everything child
Thank you for saying that.

They will require him to go through several practices to monitor his foot. They won't play him until he has no pain/discomfort or swelling in the foot after going through scrimmages. It's a lot more detailed and lengthy of a process than you realize. This is not like a sprain/concussion or something minor. He hasn't played or practiced since Spring and had a surgery.

I would also be highly suspect of them bringing him back against Miami. It will be a cupcake to allow him to build some confidence up.

Exactly, makes no sense how Grady played hurt like he did but other people ..........
I think it's a tug of war between Cal trying to protect his kids who are slated to go high in the draft, and the player camps who don't want their guys exposed. It seems like if a kid wants to play bad enough they will, and if they don't then the reasoning lies between one of those two things. I'm curious if this sort of thing goes on at other programs, and what things will be like when Cal has moved on.

Well, here it is the 21st and the Marshall game is Friday the 24th. I am assuming he hasnt practiced yet, so I dont see that happening. I guess someone can post another "wishful thinking day".

I’ve had a similar injury than Bradshaw now high school isn’t college level at all, but it was doing conditioning work for a while then I went through 2-3 practices and could play. College is a lot tougher and has more stuff they have to go through, but I wouldn’t think he needs a lot of practices to play 8-10 mins

It's not that he needs the practices for conditioning (even though he will need to build up his conditioning) it's so that they can monitor his foot as he ramps up the physical intensity to ensure as much as possible that there isn't anything lingering that could cause further damage. That is why they will make him practice several times first. They will want to make sure he has no pain, discomfort for swelling. He will be given xrays every couple of days for the first few practices as well.

It's not that Cal is too cautious with the players. It's that Cal allows organizations like Klutch to dictate whether players actually play for UK, even after they are on campus. Cal has been held hostage in the past, and continues to walk into the same situation again and again. Worse yet, he lies to the fans, REPEATEDLY, about it. I'm sick of it.
Nailed it.

I called that he wouldn't play back in the summer. Anyone who has any knowledge of UK and how Cal works could see this a mile away.

Yeah I get what you are saying, I just don’t get the philosophy from cal that you have to practice for an extended period before playing especially in Bradshaw case when he will be playing limited mins anyways. I do get the load management from a medical perspective some, but he still would be playing heavy mins anyways. I’m gonan stick to believing he plays soon but I get your side of things

No matter your opinion his/hers would be different and the tone would be the same. The only question is how long do the mods allow the poster to harass other posters

But he is going to play out on the floor and shoot 3's instead of being inside to block shots and rebound

Ok, well if he's inside blocking shots instead of shooting 3s, then he's playing for the wrong team. But if he's playing for us on both offense and defense, then he can play out on the floor on offense and inside to block shots and rebound on defense.

I'm sick of Cal lying to fans also. He is going to lose my support if he is lying to fans again!!!!!

The one thing that would make Cal change his mind on player's being held out would be for the big donors to get on Cal's butt and demand him make a decision.... Play the kid's or he will let go at the end of the season with not following UK's rules... Or something like that, change his contract if possible to ensure he does things to help UK not just his name... I am sick of being held hostage by a coach who lies all the time....

Can only do that if a player is cleared medically.

How do you know? No one seems to have an issue with mitchell shooting 3s and playing out on the floor some.

This is the issue. People complain about Cal's offense. He changed it with Welch hire. Then pieces become available and people move goal post and say "but he won't do XYZ". No, it doesn't work that way ...they changed the offense. On defense you don't want Bradshaw away from the basket...but offensively, yeah, have to do what is working.

It’s about protecting their draft position. With some five stars, the success of the team is meaningless.

Eh, these takes are so frustrating. What 5 stars have sat out injured? Please don't tell me Vanderbilt, the guy is chronically injured. No one knows the extent of Bradshaw's injury. All signs are pointing to him playing soon and meanwhile members of this board continue to act like he and Cal are trying to screw over the University.

Well…jimmyblue has been acting like a child by ridiculing and belittling anyone who has a different opinion. Regardless of what side you fall in, that’s childlike behavior
Really don't know which side I fall on. Haven't studied it or keep track in any way. I do really like your straight forward explanation though.

A second foot injury, even relatively minor, would cost him. Big red flag in NBA.

Completely agree. That said, what 5 star has sat out and not played at UK due to an injury?

Honestly, we are lucky it appears AB is going to play. Personally he has more to risk than gain probably.

I don’t get injuries at UK. Some guys are allowed to play hurt, some guys are kept out unless they are 110%. A couple years ago Grady was playing on a foot he could barely use. Bradshaw seems like a good kid, but if he doesn’t play by end of month I’m just not sure what to expect. We’ll then get the “he’s healthy, but it’s not fair to play him yet” line from Cal. These are the games to play him in and get him comfortable before league play.

That's an easy one. Grady wasn't a draft candidate so Cal didn't care. Some people joke about it, but Cal legit cares about draft day and only draft day. The only benefit winning has in his eyes is it's harder to get a player drafted from a losing team. BJ Boston and Terrence Clarke were both preseason lottery picks and that team was horrible. It was reflected in the draft.

It seems Cal's new approach to avoid people seeing guys like Boston underwhelm, is to not have them play at all and sell them to NBA GM's on a "what if". They might be good is better than they're definitely bad.

Why should we be considered lucky if a player receiving a lot of free stuff from the state university to play basketball actually plays basketball here?
