Will Levis goes 1st overall in latest CBS Sports 2023 NFL Mock Draft

Levis looks like an absolute clone of Buffalo's Josh Allen who really got the Bills close to the Super bowl this year.
I can see why teams are intrigued with him with his skill set. He needs to build on last year and be a bit more consistent and work the progressions. Last year we were a one trick pony in the passing game, this year there will be several talent targets to choose from.

I don't watch the NFL anymore but how much is Levis similar to Favre?

But what pony!

This is wild. I don't think the Texans will be looking for a QB (maybe?) but this would certainly be incredible for Stoops & Co.

Why would they not be looking for a QB? They just traded away their starter Watson and they have no other QB on the roster who's name you would recognize. They are definitely looking at QB and will likely tank this season to ensure they get a high pick. Many talking heads have them taking Bryce Young, but we'll see.

Ya right now their stance is they’re going forward with Davis Mills who looked better than expected last year. But hard to imagine he’s the long term answer. I bet they go QB too

they're both gun slingers but different builds and styles IMO.
The arm, mindset, toughness and occasional wild throw remind me of Favre. I do wonder what Levis will do in the NFL once he has elite receivers every where. Favre's numbers in college were pretty average really.

💯 agree, also a critique I’ve had about Levis. On the other hand, this is his first Spring working as the #1 QB. The chemistry with his whole wr core should be better as a result. Sometimes the timing and inaccuracies can be small things where the receiver and qb saw the play just a touch different. That’s my hope for him anyway. Tons of talent just needs to be a little sharper.

I've been out since Dallas didn't let Emmitt finish his career there. Was just about to watch again and the anthem stuff started up.
Anthem stuff? I believe they have always played anthem before the game. If you mean kneeling that's a protected Constitutional right and bless them, our own Wildcats, kneeled for justice That doesn't answer question about Will being 7th rated QB in SEC

Not getting into that political quick sand and you knew that from my vague attempt to answer why I've been away for so long. As for rankings, everyone has an opinion. Im sure there are Penn St fans who will swear he'll never get drafted. Im sure you knew that too.

Np I find it interesting and confounding at the same time that a guy can be projected as 7th best player at his position in a conference and yet projected as #1 overall pick

I just don’t get it. Maybe Built like Allen, and can run the ball.

But, inAccuracy, not being able to make all the throws, staring down receivers.

Sounds like this is more of a product of our new OCs work with QBs??

I’ll just say, I hope all these draft projections are correct, because that means we probably have one hell of a season.

Just curious, what throws can he not make? He has a cannon for an arm.

CBS Mock Drafts are never anywhere close to correct unfortunately. Trust me I'm a Fantasy Football Player in a Dynasty League that has a College Fantasy Football League that feeds our pro side, so I watch Mock Drafts a lot trying to figure out where my players are going to go and if I need to trade them before they become pros. I've never seen CBS come anywhere CLOSE to being correct.

So he is the projected #1 pick in the draft but a lot of beat writers has him as the 7th best QB in the SEC? Well that seems odd.

@EastLansingCat not sure what's so funny but I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I tend to think similarly as you on most things, but I laughed at that post too. Partly because Emmitt Smith is hugely overrated and also, I can’t imagine giving up a sport I love, because black people want to be treated equally as whites. Your post didn’t make sense.

You should research Josh Allen's completion percentage in college. It wasn't Levis' 68% from 2021, far far from it.

Crossing routes. 1st throw of the season was behind Ali, and picked off. Coen adjusted, most pass plays the last 2/3rd of the season eliminated over the middle throws to moving targets.

Those are things that can be improved with improved mechanics and familiarity with the targets however. There is a reason Wandale was pretty much the only guy Levis threw too last year. He was the only one that stayed healthy all season and missed no time.

Size, strength, athleticism, and insane arm strength. Josh Allen is the perfect comp.

Also noteworthy that josh allen was inaccurate and inconsistent until two years ago. Suddenly the light went on and he took off.

Interested to see Levis jump this year. Last year had a rough time reading defenses especially zone. Coen covered alot of that up but definitely saw growth over the year. Could be giant leap forward this year.

While it would be nice for him to go that high in the draft, I kinda wish that he doesn't. The teams that pick at the top are often: poor historic programs, have poor coaching, have poor front offices, have poor OL's, have poor WR/TE/RB, have rabid fanbases........or any combination thereof.

He wouldn't make as much with his first contract, but I think he'd be better off going in the middle to later in the draft.

Apparently I dont love it that much. Regardless of why Emmitt was the NFL rushing yards leader, he was and he was an integral part of a great run in Dallas. I hate it when the greats play their final year or two elsewhere instead of on the team they have given so much to. I see it as a betrayal of sorts, to the player and the fans.

I used to feel the same way but players do the same. LaVeon Bell is a great example of that, AB, Adams this year, Hill this year. It sux but it cuts both ways.

Having the ability to fit balls in tight windows is probably the most important aspect the NFL is looking for and Levis has the ability to do that. 1st throw of the season was from a backup QB from Penn State. The last half of last year and this coming year will determining where he is drafted in the first round. Unless he injures his arm or a major knee injury then he will go high on leadership and arm strength alone..

No it’s typical. I would think NFL scouts know much more than a bunch of beat writers that suck up to the star babies of the SEC.

He's rated 7th in the league because they know 6 qb's will put up more yards and td's because they don't have our run game or because they just sling it around. The pirate will always have a kid in the top 3 in yards but he probably won't get drafted.

Lots of folks saying Bama LB Will Anderson will be the first pick. I don't think Young will be, he looks pretty average without elite receivers.

But number 1 pick will likely be a passer or a sacker.

Article on tos has him as 3rd to 5th rounder after watching 4 games worth of film. Not sure the 4th game but he stated ut, uf, and ut Chattanooga as 3. Also said Levi's had good but not elite arm strength. Almost quit reading on that statement.

He is a big strong armed QB and will get drafted early, but depends on who else comes out. Hooker will put up big numbers, Young will put up big numbers, I think OSU QB will be eligible. All three of those will have eye popping stats, if injury free, Levis plays for CMS who just doesn't play that kind of football. Like Kirby he is a little more open to throwing the ball but he doesn't care for it.
