The inbounding problems are ridiculous, I’ve never seen a team with a huge lead cough up the ball to a press like some of our teams do. It’s baffling that they don’t have an inbound play that works. I would pressure the hell out of our team inbounding as much as possible.
With a lifetime tract and a $52,000,000 buyout? Name one. Just one.
Well some have had pretty lrge buy outs but nobody else pays their coach 9M a year and guaranteed him a lifetime(really 10 year). 4-5 years is plenty long enough of an extension.
I know I’m in the minority to an extent. And I can appreciate most fans being more patient than me. It’s a good trait to have, but when it comes to the Cats, guess I don’t have much. But it can be a bad thing too. Sometimes, you just have to say enough is enough, and start over. I reached enough is enough several years ago. Been drug through the mud endlessly for it too, but, like Cal, I’m stubborn. I can’t stop being a fan of UK, and I can’t give in to what I think is the wrong path to follow, so I’ll press on, and, eventually, I will see some semblance of Kentucky basketball again. What if Cal fails to expectations next season but is guaranteed to land Wagner in 23?
Civil war between the fans and the University. Lots of season ticket holder not renew. Could see a lot go south for the external perception of the program.
But all depends on how Cal does this year. We did petty well until February. If Cal can put together last year with a good postseason? It’ll be fine.

last year was COVID. This year till the injuries happened we looked very good. Last year was not one loss to a final 8 team.

Pretty much every young team was in trouble. More experienced teams had a distinct advantage. Stick your head in the sand if you want but facts is facts.
Don't think so. We are on a 7 year FF draught on the back of one of if not the worst seasons in our history and a loss to 15 seed in first round with the NPOY.
Tell me another time that a UK team will have been under a microscope by most of our fan base more than next year.
I'm optimistic about next season too...the above is just reality. No one is going to care if they are 32-2, 30-4 or 28-6 going into tourney. We haven't won a tournament game in 3 years.

Based on his contract (which the decision had to be based on) I’d give him 2 more years. If those 2 years don’t result in a Final Four, I’d start the conversation about transitioning into the administrative role. He’s eligible to transition to that role on July 1, 2024. If he doesn’t want to, then his buyout is at $33 million. I’d start negotiating his buy out.
If he does move to the administrative role, I’d probably pull the trigger on that pretty quick to get rid of him. I just don’t think it would be healthy having him around the program. His buyout for that, would only be about $4 million.

See I have long thought he would retire at end of 2024 but when you type it out I struggle to think he even does then. You may be right, depending on results, UK could have to buy him out eventually anyway. What person is going to walk away from another $29-$33M?

The results this past year were not bad. The were tainted by the most underseeded team in history and injuries. Mysteriously you left that part out. 3 of four guards recovering or injured. Omitted from your drama laced post. This is typical.
Here is where you come unglued. Nobody in a authority is going to spend millions on the impassioned cries from a collection of drama queens. They will be objective. We haven't won a tournament game in 3 years (yes two tournaments)- it was 2019....20, 21, 22 (that's 3 years). In our two chances we didn't make it and had a losing record and the other we lost to a 15 seed. Excusing that is beyond bizarre and I highly doubt Cal himself does.
I have stated this past team was good if not great until injuries got really bad. Doesn't change anything in the minds of most of BBN.
The pressure is real. Players may not feel it and I hope they don't.
