What would Calipari have done with the Arkansas roster (plus Quaintance) at UK?

Thanks but just like some bball talk and honestly i dont to come as a troll. And I 100 percent get where you guys are coming from with Cal. Will be fun to watch it unfold.
I am only speaking from my perspective but it pisses me off that you are on here posting. Go enjoy the fervor of your own fan base. There's zero reason to come here to gloat.

Cal is already clipping the wings of Big Z and Brazile. Now it's really started. Two of the 9 will be played oop right outta the gate.

You guys think Jaxon Robinson is going to be your best player. I dont know much about your transfers but if any SEC team has Jaxon Robinson as their best player they are screwed bigly.

So smallmouthhog Jaxson Robinson was just rated the #1 shooting guard in college basketball by 247 sports for the upcoming season. What you gotta say about that. This is not a fan poll this is what people who get paid to write opinions on knowledge of the game think.

It would have been the same results in Lexington as before under Calipari’s leadership. “Nobody has done less with more than Calipari.” Calipari is 65 years young, his paycheck says he “arrived” a long time ago, and he doesn’t strike me as the kind of person who has any interest in changing how he does things at work.

I never liked the Calipari hire and I am among those who are thrilled he’s gone.

Good news is it won’t matter. They won’t sniff the sweet 16 with him running the show

How? They don’t have talent, shooters, an awful coach, awful assistants, and the coach doesn’t even care about winning according to this board. They should win maybe 10 games.
You will win 20+ but I believe you lose 10 games. You will also lose a handful of games you shouldn’t. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see you have no postseason success. Cal has lost it and doesn’t prepare and if the game is close he will get tight and so will the team. If you don’t wanna believe us that’s cool, but we are talking from experience.

Big Blue bump? Just kidding. If JR is the top shooting guard in the country this year college bball has hit rock bottom.

? Do you think JR would be randed top shooting guard in county if him and Pope were still out west?
I think most likely not.

I’ll play the what if Cal game.

That roster talent wise is likely one of Cal’s worst. It lacks an advantage in nearly every aspect he requires for his elite teams. Not to mention the shooting %’s and how underwhelming the freshmen are. I could be seriously off base, but I think his current Arkansas team finishes 6th in the SEC and barely makes it into the tournament.

Outside prediction, Cal only lasts 3-5 seasons at Arkansas and retires.

Possibly. I mean the guy was the best player on a NCAA tournament team who won B12 6th man oy avg over 14 PPG and scored 26 in a first round loss. So now Robinson who scored over 40 points and hit 10 plus 3's in a scrimmage against a bunch of pro players who just lost in the final 4 of the TBT(only because Sestina couldn't make it) and has much more talent around him is ready to explode this season. For instance the same article had Davis as the 4th best slasher and Aidoo in the top 5 I think 3rd best post player.

Time for this thread to die a faster death than the miserably slow one it's been suffering through.

If he had the 3 R's from this year with JQ he could make a final 4(without the DJ problem though I don't blame DJ at all., just Cal) then that's a final 4 team before Cal messed it up. JQ is the kind of player that helped make Cal coached teams make it that far in the tourney. Ellie athletic players that can roam the post and make his shot blocking strategy work. But he seemed so checked out that he probably wouldn't even to take that roster that far THIS year (sophomore Reed and Rob and paying someone off at the NCAA to get another year of Reeves to join JQ)

It probably is but we keep telling you it doesn't matter if you have 13 NBA players you don't have a coach and staff that can get it done. Yes you will win a couple big games but your not getting 2015 Cal and this is the worst staff he's ever had. I'd bet right now UK has a better season and makes it farther in the NCAA tournament than the hogs do.

They don’t want to hear it’s not about winning but they will find out. He’s always had talent but found ways to underachieve the last 5 years. Most wounds are self inflicted. GBB!

I understand and understand why you be telling us this. I get it . I watched Cal get kicked in the first or second round just like you did. But I enjoyed it but always said its one of the top mysteries in college sport history how Cal just won one title with all that top end NBA talent. Mostly about youth. Unless Wagners injury is worse than we are hearing Cal wont have one starter that is a true freshman. When did that happen at KY?

Why didn’t he start at BYU if he’s that good?

Boogie Fland will start.
Even if he shouldn't.
Welcome to 🐄town.
It's not about winning for the fans.
It's players first now bro.
Bless your heart.

So I take it he’ll be coming off the bench for us since he plays better coming off the bench.

Garrison
Care
Brea
Oweh
Butler

Robinson
Kriisa
Williams
Us? Huh.
I have a guess that our new coach will actually play the guys who perform best.
Since this is a chat board, I suppose we don't have anything better to do.
But I'll wager that dude starts.

I figure Fland will start. He’s the only true PG and is highly rated out of HS.

I expect Cal will go with three starting guards like he usually does.

Wagner starts. Fland starts. Davis starts.

Knox and Richmond provide depth on the wings.

Cal likes to have four guys rotating at the 4-5.

He’ll play Brazille and Thiero at the 4 and Aidoo and Ivisic at the 5.

That’s his usual rotation, with a fully healthy 9 man rotation.

If injuries hit, he will have to adjust, as usual.

Why would you start a dude who plays better coming off the bench? He was the best player on BYU and our coach brought him in off the bench so it’s not out of the question.

True.

Brea also came off the bench for Dayton last year.

Robinson and Brea off the bench with Almonor and Garrison (or Williams) would give us one of the best benches in the country, I feel.

That puts Butler and Kriisa in the backcourt together. That’s two really good ball handlers and leaders, one that plays stellar defense and the other is a great passer and shooter.

Then Oweh at the 3 spot. He’s a physical guy. Strong defender. Pretty good on offense.

All three of those guys are use to starting. Might be a good idea to keep them in the starting five.

That might not be a bad idea.

Butler/Krissa
Oweh/Chandler
Robinson/Brea
CARR/Almoror
Williams/Garrison
Perry/Noah play depending on matchups and situations.
That makes the most sense for starters and back ups with the roster makeup we have. I am not coach Pope could he see other things I don't see off course. He might want Krissa to start with his shooting and passing. Maybe Chandler is just too good when the rust wears off not to start. Robinson and Brea both played great off the bench last year will they or at least one be great starting. CARR is really good and flying under the radar the kid can do everything good. Almoror is tough as hell and can shoot from deep. Williams was a 3x conference DPOY now can he do that in the SEC. Garrison is a burger boy for a reason he's good. Perry and Noah can absolutely shoot and score so who knows.

Purely based on a 10 man rotation that's how I see it. Could it change from now till game #1 off course.

Why would 🐄 not play our best lineup?
🐄 apparently thought R&R played better off the bench.
Do you believe Reed would come off the bench if he came back the next year?
That's kinda how many teams advanced in the non 1ad eras.
It's probably out of the question, really.
Hang in there.
