Victor Wembanyama Bust

This comes up alot. Nobody is changing their mind on the topic either. I will say this.... Name one thing honestly that mj could do on the court that lebron couldn't... Now ask the reverse of that. You will find lebron could do things Jordan couldn't. Mj is a winner at all cost, but people blow him out of proportion
Did you actually watch Jordan's career? He did a lot of things LeChina never could do. Legitimately beating and dunking on triple teams would be one.

LeBron did that all the time. They are both great players. Also, you couldn't double team back then or Illegal Defense was called.

Did you just try to correct his math with more bad math?

The difference between 6’10” and 7’4” is 6 inches, not 5.
No, I didn’t. Hence the question mark after my “correction” 😎

Le China is nowhere as quick or agile as Jordan. I actually watched back then and he faced legitimate triple teams. You could double or triple team then you just weren't suppose to play in between.

Lol, I just saw this. This is a gem. Ain't no way you ever watched MJ play.

Jordan was a far better defender than LeBron. He was defensive player of the year in a season where he averaged 35ppg.

What exactly is it LBJ can/could do that Jordan couldn't?

Jordan is far and away the goat and it isn't all that close. LBJ isn't even better than Bird.

WIll be interesting to see where Wemby falls in our fantasy draft tonight. He's currently ranked 38th in points leagues. I figured he might have been ranked a little higher and wonder if someone won' reach for him.

Lebron is a better overall basketball player than MJ. MJ had a better NBA career than Lebron did.

Anyone that calls Lebron "LeChina" isn't allowed to have an opinion on the matter because their opinion is clearly skewed by politics.
LeBron is nowhere near a better basketball player than MJ. How old are you? Seriously, don't mean that in a negative way....just curious if you've seen both. Agree re: the name, but that is it. LeBron doesn't have near the hardware Jordan does. He also isn't a quarter of the defensive player Mike was. These are just simple facts. Most of the older generation agree MJ is better than guys of their time minus maybe Wilt.

This MJ stat is mind boggling considering he was the main offensive threat every year:

Nice call; I thought the number was zero. I guess it's one. They did list him at 6'11" when he was drafted but I'll give it to you anyway.
You surrender too easily. You’re still right, the number is zero.

Dirk was 20-years-old when he was drafted …and he really struggled his rookie year (averaged only single digits). When he was 18, Dirk was still learning the ropes in Germany’s second tier league.

So Wembanyama is far ahead of where even Dirk was at the same age.

I am 62 and would consider WIlt to be # 1 or # 2 of all time- his stats are unbelievable

Yao was like 22 or 23 years old when he entered the draft, and I believe Porzingas was also a couple years older than Wembanyama. Neither of those guys were anywhere near the prospect this kid is at the same age.
Yes but the draft wasn’t his statement. Top pro league. Didn’t specify NBA.

Irrelevant to the argument. Larry Bird was much better than your guy as well.

You're never gonna convince old heads that Jordan isn't the goat. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

I'm 43 Richie. I was living in Bridle Creek in Lexington when LeBron took the court for the first time in NBA. Was roughly 23. I don't even remember much of Jordan until around 1989. I've literally seen LeBron play far more than Jordan.

This isn't nostalgia. If it was nostalgia, I'd feel the same way across multiple sports.

It is a simple fact that Jordan is just better. Look at the stats. Look at the titles. Look at the individual accolades. Look at the fact that the guy quit in prime of career and came back and won more. Look at the game holistically and the LeBron argument holds no water.

I will say there is probably implicit bias from both sides as most people favor what they saw in their youth. That said, I have no problem admitting Joe Burrow is better than Boomer Esiason as a Bengals fan, so this isn't me just being hung up on nostalgia.

Yea, let's look at that for a minute. The year Jordan retired, the Bulls won like 4 less games and finished 2nd instead of 1st in the conference.

The Cavs barely won 4 games 2 years removed from playing in the finals when Lebron left.

There is the real problem with all of this. so much of it depends on other players that it becomes almost impossible to compare. Jordan also won the majority of his titles against teams/foes that weren't who people think about. Most of them came after Magic, Kareem, Bird all retired, and after the Pistons disbanded. He did beat Magic for his first title, and maybe even had the pistons together for a couple of them, but that wasn't who he beat for most of his titles. Jordan came along when the NBA needed a face.

There are probably a handful of guys that I wouldn't argue with people about if they thought they were the best. A lot depends on the definition of best. But one thing is abundantly clear, for most, once they settle on who they think is the best, they will ignore any evidence that suggest that it may not be the case.

I would probably go with Jordan or Magic as the best all time based on who I've seen. Jordan because he had the it factor, and Magic for his versatility/skill in basketball (and maybe a little because he was my favorite player growing up).

Must be trolling or maybe 15.
It’s trolling. I’m pretty sure that post is from one of dozens of different troll accounts that a certain weirdo on this board uses just to antagonize people. His posts are best just ignored … but that can be hard to do when he’s constantly changing names.

Wait, so this account was created 22 years ago yet has only 2 posts ever …with neither having anything to do with UK?

LOL, yeah nothing suspicious there.

Lol the stats favor Lebron. The ring argument is pointless. Rings are a team accomplishment. Jordan couldn't get out of the first round before Pippen. Lebron went to the finals EIGHT times in a row. Many times with awful Cavaliers squads. Lebron came back to a struggling cavs franchise with only Kyrie Irving and won a title in 2-3 years. Let me know when Jordan comes back down 3-1 against a 73 win team. Jordan being the ''goat'' is very much a David Stern led creation. Lot's of hype after Magic and Bird retired. The pistons were supposed to be the NBA's team of the decade. But we know what happened.

Always for to start and argument with rings are pointless...come on man.

Few per game stats favor LeBron and don't give me career BS. Jordan quit in his prime after Dad died. Jordan more MVP, more Finals MVPs, more first team all defense, DPOY, 10-1 scoring champ, more steals leader. 6-0 in finals.

Ring argument pointless? Lol. Ok.

Jordan's East vs LeBron's East. Give me a break.

You couldn't have watch Jordan play.

LeBron is a great player. He is not the goat. He has personally failed multiple times on biggest of stages (finals). Jordan didn't, ever.

So you agree that Bill Russel is the goat. 11 rings. You're regurgitating old head talking points. Lebron could have won MVP every year if he wanted. But voters don't want to vote him as MVP year after year after year.

No, but rings matter. Russell didn't average 32ppg or whatever it is.

You have a couple of conspiracy theories going here.

1. Stern made Jordan the Goat
2. LeBron could have won as many mvps that he wanted. Guess he didn't want them? What?

I am just stating facts here. Jordan 6-0 finals, 6 finals mvps, better ppg, better defender, equal rebounder considering significant size difference. I would say LeBron is a better passer but that's about it. He has absolutely nothing on Jordan from intangible standpoint....zero. He turns the ball of way more than Jordan, guessing around 1 more per game.

This is all you need to know:

Jordan is +45 in NBA Finals. LeBron is -86. That's a 131 pt swing....End of story. Jordan rose to occasion in biggest moments, always. LeBron did sometimes but mostly fell flat on his face.
