I think Lebron is better in terms of pure on court ability but i still say Jordan is the goat because he was further ahead of his time. There was just a lot more separation between Jordan and his peers than Lebron and his.

I think the rings argument and finals record is silly though. Lebron has dragged multiple teams to the finals now that had no business being there and even won one against a dynasty with one of those terrible rosters. Comparing some of those cleveland rosters and even the Lakers roster to those bulls teams is comical.

It’s also why i think Tim Duncan is slightly overrated.

But you can’t compare guys from this era to previous in terms of sheer ability. It’s unfair because of course guys are going to be better now with much better training information and technology available to them. (though it doesn’t seem to be helping guys stay healthy for w/e reason)

In an all-time fantasy draft I would pick LeBron #1 because you could plug him in anywhere 1-4 and he’ll be able to do everything you need at each position at anywhere from a great to all-time level. And if you have a team that’s a little weak at the 5 offensively you can put him at the 5.

He might be the only person in league history that can do that.

At this stage in the four careers (after each of the four has/had played two NBA games) neither Jordan or James could match up with Wemby or Cason Wallace. Just to put the thread back on or off track.
Cason Wallace, Lol.

Since the thread is already off topic, has there ever been a true big that has been better in the NBA
at age 19 than Jalen Duren right now?

One of those times I wish I was still living in San Antonio to see Wemby play in-person. Did get to see Duncan, Parker, Ginobili Era. 2nd time watching him on TV, saw his debut vs the Mavs and impressed by his perimeter game so far and an elite rim protector with his size and athleticism.

LeBron did take some lousy teams to the finals, but he also should have never lost to Dallas. That series alone ended the "Who is better between Jordan and LeBron" argument. It actually napalmed it in favor of MJ.

Plus there's this: MJ never went 7 games in an NBA Finals. Think about that. He wasn't just dominate; he was feared. Can the same be said about Prime LeBron? I don't think so. Boston ridiculed him for years. Dallas made a mockery of him.

Who's asking them to match up?

If caught in isolation, Jordan would simply take one move to free himself from Wemby, move around him abruptly, and posterize him.

Do people truly think Larry Bird could play in the NBA today? I just don't see it.

Being a good teammate, playing for the front of the jersey, being unselfish, playing with a high motor, being a hardworker, being a scrappy gamer, having a high basketball IQ, being a lunch pail guy, being heady/cerebal, being a gym rat, and having good fundamentals will only get you so far in todays era of basketball.

Larry was incredibly skilled what are you talking about? There is no question he would excell in todays nba. He is similar to Luka albeit there are differences as well. Bird was more of a big with insane shooting ability and ability to get where he needed to get.

If Kyle Anderson can play well over 20 minutes a game in today’s NBA then Larry Bird sure as hell could have.

He was 6’11” and could shoot. Luca( who’s pudgy and drinks beer before games), Joker (who can barely jump over a piece of paper), and Curry (who’s not even 200 lbs) are 3 of the best players of this generation. In 20 years people will be saying the same thing about them and it’ll be funny watching you try and tell them they’re wrong.

LeBron would have struggled to make any finals in Jordan’s era strictly because of his mentality and how they would treat him physically. Not to mention he would let have been able to hop team to team and form his best friends club.

This is a bad take IMHO. Players play how the game is called. If Jordan played in today's Era he would flop and bitch and moan louder than anybody because that's competitive edge to get the call today. Conversely, in an Era where you were allowed to bulldoze over people and defend like it was football, LeBron would have absolutely dominated the 90s as nobody would be able to stop him. Everyone makes it out like LeBron is some sissy man. No, they all whine and moan for calls because that's where the game is at today. 90s players in today's Era would do the same and current players playing in the 90s would have played and been more physical. It's how you're taught the game and when.

If you watch Bird highlights in the early 80's he was dunking on people. Not saying he was Jordan, but he was far more athletic early on than people think. And his passing ability was uncanny the way he saw the court.

Did you even watch Larry Bird play? Dude was a baller. He could definitely play in todays game or any era for that matter. He took on guys that revolutionized the game into what it is today. Dr. J., Magic Ervin, His time overlapped Jordan's. He's one of the greatest ever.
