Up to #5

UK is right now at worst the 2nd best team IMO behind only UCLA . Nova would be 3rd Gonzaga at 4 and KU at 5.
Agreed. Records and current rankings/ratings aside, I think the best three teams in the land right now are (in no particular order) UK, UCLA and Nova. Just a notch below them are Gonzaga (maybe), Kansas and UNC***. After that it's sort of a crap shoot. This year's tourney is going to be crazy...there just are no truly dominant teams this year.

I agree it's a new year same story with Gonzaga. I don't even consider them when I see/hear talk of a final four run. They have a nice team with a mammoth in the middle but I never expect to see them matchup well with the top level, athlete heavy teams.

Hmmm ... seems to me the past 2 dances the Zags have won just as many games (5) as the 'Cats. Oh ... and the last 2 dances the Zags' seed averaged 6.5 (2 and 11) as opposed to Kentucky's average seed of 2.5 (1 and 4). Other than that, good point.
How many final fours you been to the last 7 years and how many titles have you won? We have 4 and 1. Drops mic...

I am happy for you and your fellow Wildcat fans

Hoping you don't hurt your shoulder patting yourself on the back (or injure your toe dropping that mic).

Holy S**t a Zag fan! They exist!

The best team in the nation right now is UNC. If Monk doesn't have the game of the decade we lose. The have 6 bigs who can play..great guard play and Jackson is super. I don't want to play them again.

Convenient you only include the last two years. Your school is a total joke compared to UK basketball. Comparing Gonzaga to UK is like comparing a homeless shelter to the Ritz Carlton.

They lost to GA Tech so I'm not buying this nonsense.

And you have the UNC game but if UK does not play like ass against UCLA and UL we are 16-1 instead of 15-2. Works both ways.

I want them to not lose before coming to Rupp. The higher they are when we take them down, the better for us.
I will root for Kansas to lose. For one I hate that team. Also if we can beat them it makes us that much higher up for seeding purposes and pushes them down lower. Also you never know UK could like actually lose some games, hard to believe I know but true and you want other top teams to lose so UK still gets a #1 seed.

Since Gonzaga was ranked 4th, one spot ahead of us, I think everyone who voted for them should be required to place a significant sum of money on them if we were to play in the tournament. See how many thought they were actually better then!

I love this line of thinking. Anytime sports debates come up, I ask the "you have $1 million to bet on it" question. Whether it's Kentucky or Gonzaga, Warriors or Bulls, or Brady and Manning.. You'll get your answer.

It's how all sports debates should go.. Make people put hypothetical money on it.

I love how bad losses just get glossed over. UNC lost to an awful Georgia Tech team? Who cares? Doesn't matter.

People did the same thing with Indiana earlier in the year. :joy:

We hear this every year. This is the year Gonzaga makes a run. Yada yada. They won't make the Final 4 again this year and I'll be very surprised if they make the Elite 8.
And I hope you're right. I'm no Gonzaga fan.

Wow, do we seriously now have a Gonzaga fan on our board talking smack?
So in your world you only count back to 2 years? Is that how we are going to do this?
What happens if we go back any further?

Georgia Tech says they really aren't all that good.
Who is Georgia Tech you ask? Oh, they're just a team that is looking at an NIT bid at best.

Yep. Its like when UMM was complaining about the huge point spreads UK was getting.

And I'm like well if you think they are that ridiculous, bet against UK covering.

People's opinions change drastically when they got money on the line

And your best player those two years was someone who couldn't cut it at UK.

I don't care where we are ranked as long as it's number 1 the first week of April. Let's be honest, if we lose we drop 10 spots, if unc or puke loses they move up 4 spots due to special circumstances.

Gonzaga has real players this year. Nigel Goss-Williams(Washington), Jonathan Williams(Memphis), Jordan Matthews(Cal), Karnowski, Zach Collins, Perkins, I mean that is a real team. This isn't typical Zaga, they have more than a guy or 2. Don't think they have as much as the real contenders but they legit good.

They lost to Ga Tech by double digits...they are not best team

Nota very respectful way to talk to a board founding father or one of your elders....I bet you voted for Hillary.....just kidding....

Yeah, I did vote for Hillary. I bet you're some redneck moron who voted for Trump.

Why the hell do you Trump idiots insist on bringing politics into a basketball thread?

It is just always easy to smell a snow flake.....Your generation was raised with a cell phone or I pad under your pillow. You have no respect with those of differing opinions. You whine over every loss. You were given participation trophies so you think UK wins and election wins are an entitlement. To tell some one to shut up tells me a lot about your intelligence and your mindset. If someone beats UK that was a crime....if we dont win it all that is a crime....if your presidential choice does not win it is a crime and he is not qualified...So you just show blatant disregard because your generation knows everything....and if kind get control in 50 yeas America will be a socialist country if it stands at all....If you are actually old enough to vote then please act like an responsible adult......

I don't think many voters think Gonzaga is better than us, but they are undefeated so I don't have a problem with their current ranking. It doesn't make any difference anyway. The issue will be their record will get them a very high seed in the tournament. if they're a 1 seed, I'd rather be their 2 seed than a 1 in another region.

So, you want to talk about just the last two seasons? How about the past 7? We've been in 4 Final Fours and 2 titles games. you were saying?
