I’m excited about possibly adding Joey Hart. Last thing anyone wants is some boring minutes to end those November games against popcorn state with terrible athletes, turnovers, and missed shots. Give me this semi local guy who can stroke it and yams for a white kid to end those nights. We need bodies and at any level it can be hard to get players that know they won’t really play. Happy for the kid to get the opportunity to play at UK. I’m sure him and his family are ecstatic.

That guy wanting us to recruit all ky and tri state kids will be excited by this signing.

I've also heard from a genius on this board we can win big with all ky born players and 2 to 3 non ky players each season.

Those guys are pumped.

I find it more funny that Matt Jones is acting like this is a huge signing.

It’s to late to wish reeves gone, they have to get him. With jones appearently it’s between Memphis Kentucky and Xavier. Burks is intriguing and looks promising
No we don't have to get Reeves,he's nothing more than a mediocre shooter that might get u 20 one game then disappear for the next 5 and brings no defense or rebounding so what's he really good at again besides drama....pass

Honestly I’m with you. He seems like a decent piece for depth. Good looking shot and has some size and athleticism. I’m disappointed we didn’t grab a veteran to fill this kind of role, but we’re all crazy if you think a top mid major transfer is coming here to come off the bench.

Reeves is not mediocre he is a really good college scorer if he weren’t major high level teams wouldn’t be trying to poach him. I get being upset but acting like reeves is bad is crazy, but I respect your view point and are not gonna hate for you disagreeing with me

What we really need is Grant Nelson but Cal isn't even trying.

If Joey Hart chooses Kentucky, he was coming from a program moving to the Big 12. UCF is a Big 12 program too, so Dawkins was going to get players he thought could play at that level and Big 12, so this isn't some bum.

Some fans are misinterpreting other people liking an addition as thinking they don't need more experienced guys too. They need playerS (plural) so I like it. Now if this is all they add-it's on the program and awful-but not player--the approach.

You’re a moron. He was our best offensive player towards the end of the year. Is 40% from 3 not good enough for you? Is averaging over 20 ppg over the last 6 games not good enough for you? Top 10 best 3 point shooter in the Cal era. But I guess that’s not good enough for you .

I just don't understand why Cal is making zero effort on a guy like Nelson who is just what we need.Instead having Hart and Burks visiting more inexperience.

We just gonna agree to disagree on Reeves,he's actually not a good college scorer,to inconsistent to be labeled that but again,I respect your opinion because we do need players and right now even tho I wish he'd just move on down the road,we may have no choice but to take him back.

I’m not gonna be like the OP and make fun of ya. I like reeves and really want him back but I get why people are frustrated with him

They made an effort and were rejected. They contacted him initially and were told "Not going to even consider you until I know what Oscar does"--which was about role/minutes. Well apparently he didn't want to wait or didn't like what he heard--but end of day you can't make people come who don't want to come.

The younger guys are going to take OV's and that's fine. That doesn't mean they aren't trying to get other veteran players. But if you can lock in 2 more guys and hopefully a 3rd with Reeves--who I think we'll know if Kentucky keeps him by Monday---then you go after another Vet and things are a lot better than they were going into the weekend.

Understand frustration. I don't care for how Cal/program has approached the portal this year. But in one way it's loyalty to your players who are undecided and you still may get one back (Reeves)--and in another you just have to go get people and if Oscar ended up going elsewhere--so be it. Livingston same thing. But if they landed someone like a Kaluma--I think he's a better fit than Livingston for this year's team-older, more experience and winning experience on teams who have been in NCAA and a step away from Final Four.

Young guys, I'm just looking at it as a coach-I like what I've seen from Burks/Hart. Burks is very intriguing. Specifically with the height added. 6'9+ guys with wing skill sets are not easy to find. He also mentioned he passed on G-League with plan to play in CBB for at least 2 yrs. This would be a John Welch special too. Here's where that hire comes into play. If the player is willing to work, he's someone who can accelerate with an NBA skill guy working with him. He is already on NBA's radar if they wanted him in G-League and he signed with SEC school originally with interest from Missouri and Dennis Gates who I've liked a lot I've seen in his brief time as a HC at Cleveland State and Missouri. Also like his eye for talent at FSU which has gone down the crapper since he left as an Assistant. He was very high on Burks.

Hart being a kid who can shoot the ball but is also someone athletic enough Dawkins figured was good enough to bring into a program heading into the toughest conference in country the past few years (UCF into the Big 12). And he's willing to look at UK and compete and want to be part of the program? Respect it. This is the type of guy like Adou that I like seeing brought into Kentucky and should be every yr or other year. Get a guy who can grow into his role or he surprises and gets on the court. I loved Dom Hawkins-but at no point did I expect to see him on the court in '14 Postseason but there he was--playing a role. We saw what he grew into. Derek Willis grew into a role as well. Mychael Mulder. As fans we need to see more guys like this while also using all other avenues to get players but it's why I'm not down or angry about it.

He is a streaky shooter, yes. However, he was basically asked to carry the offensive load by himself last season. IMO, he will be much more effective not being the sole focal point on the perimeter this season. Look for him to shoot close to 45% from 3.

I agree. They need bodies at this point. Get those two, a foward who is seriously ready to contribute like jones/Kaluma or maybe both and reeves and that’s a really good offensive squad
