Who did you want them to target/land after the season ended? Or who did you want to stay that left the team? I'm not being critical/confrontational, just asking.
The only transfer I was sad to see leave was Collins.Several bigs I liked were Jesse Edwards and Ware.I really like Olivier Nkamhoa.I also liked Dalton Knect.

There’s a reason other high major teams are after him. And by the videos you can tell he has talent and is a good player. Now will he pan out if he comes here who knows, but he is good and talented
People said the same about Whitney. He was a great AAU player.

Could be wrong but if burks stays past janurary he is already better than Whitney. Burks has some aspects that translate and I like Kentucky adding him, I agree Kentucky needs veterans and I think cal is trying, but burks is not a bad add by any means if they get him

Agree with you on Knecht. I liked Kel'el Ware too. But we saw fans shitting on both of them too for various reasons. At some point you just have to pull the trigger on guys. But I never had this "I want Oscar to play another year" angle and you don't seem like you did either. I can't even begin to imagine what would've happened if UK moved on and Tshiebwe returned and played elsewhere. Oscar BTW--never wanted to return to CBB but many in his camp used this as a negotiation tactic. Cal/Barnhart couldn't afford that so they waited it out. Now we're here.

Not sure why the Tennessee guy hasn't been mentioned but maybe they reached out and he declined? Jesse Edwards was a done deal-that was done prior to the entry to the Portal. He knew what he was doing. Like him as a player for sure.

They have to keep Reeves. That's a big thing to get done. If they are able to land a kid like Kaluma who I know many don't like-but let's face it, if you can get a guy who is from a team who just played in the Elite 8 and played in Big East, it's not awful. I like that he's been on teams that have won big games as well.

So then you look at bigs...this is where you hope that maybe a Grad Transfer enters unless you want to go young and if I went young, I'd go Somto Cyril over Miranda. Have gone back and forth but he has measurables that can at least bang/use up fouls in SEC.

Burks led OTE in scoring and outshined Dillingham most of the year.

3-star for him is criminally underrated but doesn't much matter.

Kid is a 6'10 wing shooter who would be willing to play spot minutes off the bench.

Some on here get so up and arms about us not using all of our scholarships, and then get so upset when we start using them to add depth pieces.
His percentages are way too low to be considered a wing shooter.

he is good depth and has a lot of potential. But again, if he had shot those percentages here last season people would be begging for him to leave.

We have a large number of posters trying to push out Oscar and he averaged 16.5 and 13.1 on 56% shooting. This kid wouldve been eaten alive with his numbers

Any good news seems to good to be true right now, but in basketball today you can never have to many versatile fowards and guards, he looks good.
Good? Just good? Did you even watch that highlight reel? 28-28 from the field including 3-3 from three-point range. The guy literally never misses. Sign me up!

Some of you guys need to take a break from sports. Jesus Christ. None of us are happy with the program right now and we're all sick of Cal, but the same people spamming miserable bullshit in every thread, every day for hours and hours a day is getting tiring. Pretty sure by the constant sadness and poor punctuation that a few of you are the same person. But whatever.

For better or worse, we're going to live and die with how good Dilly/Wagner/Edwards and Bradshaw are. And I think they're gonna be pretty good. I'm also optimistic about Ugo and Thiero. Get Reeves back, add a backup 3/4 (Burks?), backup big (Cyril?) and a multi-year guard (Hart?) and I'd be pretty happy. If we lose Reeves, we definitely need to get a proven scorer as a replacement. We're not going to end up with 11 studs. No school is.

I hope this is Cal's last season myself, but this board is becoming unreadable.

So our big surprise is Joey Hart?Wow.
UK has had a lot of success with Indiana guards. Louie Dampier, Kyle Macy, Jim Master, James Blackmon, Roger Hardin, Mike Flynn, Sean Woods. Maybe give the guy a shot before you give up on him.

Boo hoo , the board is miserable ..... yeah no shit , the program is in the dump and the spring/summer of recruiting has been one giant miss after another .. You cant think Cal is going to have a good year with freshman leading there way .. unless you want to ignore history . Its kinda like we are getting pummeled and some are saying " thank you sir I'll have another " . Until Cal is gone the beatings will continue . So I say beat away .

We just gonna agree to disagree on Reeves,he's actually not a good college scorer,to inconsistent to be labeled that but again,I respect your opinion because we do need players and right now even tho I wish he'd just move on down the road,we may have no choice but to take him back.
Reeves is by no measure a bad college player and is by every measure a great college scorer.

Seems like he struggles to create his own shot , just not very explosive at all. And Cals offense is mostly " get your own"

They made an effort and were rejected. They contacted him initially and were told "Not going to even consider you until I know what Oscar does"--which was about role/minutes. Well apparently he didn't want to wait or didn't like what he heard--but end of day you can't make people come who don't want to come.

The younger guys are going to take OV's and that's fine. That doesn't mean they aren't trying to get other veteran players. But if you can lock in 2 more guys and hopefully a 3rd with Reeves--who I think we'll know if Kentucky keeps him by Monday---then you go after another Vet and things are a lot better than they were going into the weekend.

Understand frustration. I don't care for how Cal/program has approached the portal this year. But in one way it's loyalty to your players who are undecided and you still may get one back (Reeves)--and in another you just have to go get people and if Oscar ended up going elsewhere--so be it. Livingston same thing. But if they landed someone like a Kaluma--I think he's a better fit than Livingston for this year's team-older, more experience and winning experience on teams who have been in NCAA and a step away from Final Four.

Young guys, I'm just looking at it as a coach-I like what I've seen from Burks/Hart. Burks is very intriguing. Specifically with the height added. 6'9+ guys with wing skill sets are not easy to find. He also mentioned he passed on G-League with plan to play in CBB for at least 2 yrs. This would be a John Welch special too. Here's where that hire comes into play. If the player is willing to work, he's someone who can accelerate with an NBA skill guy working with him. He is already on NBA's radar if they wanted him in G-League and he signed with SEC school originally with interest from Missouri and Dennis Gates who I've liked a lot I've seen in his brief time as a HC at Cleveland State and Missouri. Also like his eye for talent at FSU which has gone down the crapper since he left as an Assistant. He was very high on Burks.

Hart being a kid who can shoot the ball but is also someone athletic enough Dawkins figured was good enough to bring into a program heading into the toughest conference in country the past few years (UCF into the Big 12). And he's willing to look at UK and compete and want to be part of the program? Respect it. This is the type of guy like Adou that I like seeing brought into Kentucky and should be every yr or other year. Get a guy who can grow into his role or he surprises and gets on the court. I loved Dom Hawkins-but at no point did I expect to see him on the court in '14 Postseason but there he was--playing a role. We saw what he grew into. Derek Willis grew into a role as well. Mychael Mulder. As fans we need to see more guys like this while also using all other avenues to get players but it's why I'm not down or angry about it.
Would you look at that, a rational and thought out evaluation rather than a knee jerk reaction. I don’t like that Cal waited to make moves, but you need role players and depth. Both Hart and Burks give you that, with some skills that separate them. Everyone mad that we don’t have a transfer from some small school isn’t recognizing that those guys weren’t stars coming out of high school, either. Sure those players have developed enough to move up, but Max Abmas wasn’t coming here to play behind Wagner, and Wagner didn’t commit to be second fiddle. I have my frustrations with Cal and the results the last few years, but I’m sure there are contacts that have happened we don’t know about. And I’m willing to bet most of the people mocking Hart are the ones screaming for shooters. He certainly looks the part. He also might transfer after a year or two, but if he’s willing to work and accept a role he could easily see a role like Hawkins.

When Nazr came here he was considered a project. Worked his ass off, grew his skill set and left here as arguably the best big man in the country his last year IMO. Sometimes “projects” work out. Just trying to be positive here.

What we really need is Grant Nelson but Cal isn't even trying.
Just a complete moron
Your a douchebag,hope u feel better.
No,his demands and drama we

You're going off on a tangent. I'm telling you it doesn't matter if Cal signs a guy like that because he doesn't utilize them. And you can't in good conscience tell me that he does. I'll name you several guys who could have helped but never got PT. Hopkins, Juzang, Matthews. Just this last season Reeves didn't get much PT until Cal had to play him due to injury. Cal doesn't use depth. That's what I'm telling you. Can you deny that?
You are correct. Ccc has no coaching skills as he has shown time and again. Bench players can't improve if they don't play

But pitino was the coach, not this used car salesman. Pitino improved most players skills

I understand your point, but not sure about your examples. I thought Juzang got every minute that he deserved - probably more. He was a reclassification and not ready. But he was being set up to play a big role the next season. He just didn't want to be at UK and he was never coming back regardless. I agree Hopkins could have helped, but if we're being fair can we really claim that he was better than Brooks or Toppin at that point in his development. Mathews was also not able to add much as a freshman - certainly not shooting, which he never became very proficient at - and I think he might have been one of those guys who thought he should have been OAD, and so was never going to be happy at UK. But I can see your point about trying to utilize him more as a freshman.

Basically, I would also like to see UK bring in and keep the program builders like the guys you mentioned. But it seems to be kind of a walking a tightrope situation. I'm not sure exactly the best way to do it. My theory is stop loading the roster with OADs and let the guys that are going to be around a few years and have potential to become really good college players get that development time as freshmen instead.

Why does this thread no show up on my screen? I can only access it on the forums page. Asking for help thx!

They do? Your internet must be broke!

You got me, man! Well done!

I think you should now start an account based on me.

I don’t understand criticizing players who seem to have the potential to become good players. We get our asses kicked annually by teams filled with these kind of players. The problem is Cal has neither the skill nor desire to develop them. The rot of this program doesn’t end until he’s gone.

If Burks and Hart want to come we have to take them. We need players. Who knows, may be a diamond in the rough in one or both.

People trying to say the same thing about Grant Nelson is sad. Everyone looks at 3p% and assumes he’s a stud

Yeah, he's gonna struggle with athleticism in the SEC and not shoot nearly as well. Same with the Colorado tech guy everyone on here thinks is the next Larry bird.

Lol, let's break the bank on him then
Well I’d say he’s very important at this stage. Not returning a single starter or player of relevance is not good. I’d feel good about the backcourt at least if we kept him.
And getting him several hundred k a year, shouldn’t be breaking the bank

A must have return player that's the most important "recruit" in the Calipari era should be worth more than several hundred k for one season.
Break the bank on this must get, must have player in Reeves.
