The Ukraine war. (Yes, we'll mind our manners)

China is benefiting from cheaper energy, a weakening dollar, embarrassingly incompetent US leadership.

China is not benefiting from a push to reshore U.S. manufacturing and the pendulum in Washington likely swinging back to a party in 2024 they may not own entirely top to bottom.

The US is benefiting from increased exports of natural gas following an act of ecoterrorism that severed Europe from Russia.

The US is not benefiting from ignoring the narco terror state invading it from the south while focusing on defending the borders of a worthless corrupt cesspool halfway around the globe.

All in all the only people actually benefiting from this stupid ass war are those with a direct financial interest in the conflict, or who need to distract their people from their corruption.
So, if the Chinese control the Democratic Party and Putin controls the Republican Party, who’s on third? 🤪

I have a fear that we are weaker via preparedness than we were before. I also wonder if China has been forced to reassess its Taiwan ambitions, but am not sure. I think on the world stage, however, China may be benefiting.
How on earth can we be weaker when both Russia and China are going down the drain? Also, once again in clear battlefield testing US weaponry is wiping the floor with a once feared Russian military that is now viewed as corrupt and completely incompetent.

China looks around and sees a world where they're going to have to start over again from scratch but they don't have time to do so. They're also about to get COVID tied around their necks. Gee, I wonder if the world will think China is financially responsible? That would be... trillions?

Meanwhile, the US is isolating the Trumpers into smaller and smaller camps every day, so that fire will be put out soon as the Russian gambit to destabilize the US and employ you gullible rubes as their social media warriors is bust even with Bill still clinging on playing all their favorite hits like some commie Ronnie Milsap.

Our military is untouched and whole with one of our two biggest global adversaries in ruins and the other in China we just basically can contain with a single carrier group in the Philippines ready to starve China of oil if they so much as peep out from under the covers. China is checkmated in 3 and they're in the terrible position of just sitting there and taking it knowing how this all ends.

We will need to refocus in our own hemisphere and recalibrate into a new era of narco terror war but that is tomorrow. Today it couldn't possibly be better than to be an American. You guys should try it, sometime when you'd done playing baby Mussolini with Trump.

We sink deeper into debt and this war exacerbates it. The global economy suffers due to high energy costs, with long term effects as yet unknown. We risk losing reserve currency status, a threat so catastrophic to our economy that it’s incomprehensible that we risk it over a place as strategically unimportant as Eastern Ukraine.

China may act impetuously against Taiwan. Not from any fear of the West. I’ve read damning reports of German and British military preparedness. They may act because their economic and military window is open. This leaves the US as the sole obstacle- the exact thinking held by the Japanese.

A much weakened position. What are we gaining? Can anybody explain why a weakened Russia is so necessary to American interests?

Most I agree with, but

- US dollar not weakening, just off some from last year's multi-year high & up/steady last few months.
- Russia is not benefiting from their stupid war.

We sink deeper into debt w/o the war. You have no idea what makes the global economy go up or down. US currency not at risk over this war. It's fine. See above post. You need to see a shrink.

China more likely to attack Taiwan if we don't help U. Good reason why Japan is increasing it's military spending.

We don't need a weakened R if they don't try to expand their influence. When the do, the whole world's risk increases.

Just repeating the same lunatic ravings over & over doesn't make them true. The US military couldn't defeat guys in sandals in Vietnam & guys with beards & sandals in the Middle East. Ill informed, stupid & completely devoid of any self awareness is no way to go through life, junior.

Because it’s an unstable dictatorship that is headed by an agressive dictator who won’t stop on his own. He has to be stopped by external or internal forces.

We could and did defeat both, conventionally, but could not maintain a long-term occupation without suffering casualties. Were Russia to take all of Ukraine, they would experience the same pains, long term.

If it appears the Ukraine is going down, what do the pro-war crowd think the US should do? Do we send troops?
What do you mean by “go down”, do you mean Kyiv and Lviv fall or are you talking specifically about the Donbas? I know you said “IF”, but there’s no way those two cities fall.

What does it say about Russia’s military that they have to heavily rely on private mercenaries to storm and take a city?

Go down, as in lose to Russia despite financial and weaponry backing from the West.

Curious what point you are trying to make.

Of course Russia doesn’t have a very strong military.

But on the other hand, Elon Musk, private foreign citizen, was (maybe still is) supplying internet to Ukraine.

I’d also rather have Russia sending mercenaries to fight rather than send in nuclear bombs.

Mocking Russia for using mercenaries just seems like nothing other than an attempt to push them into a nuclear war.

“oh…you guys are so weak. You’re using Blackwater instead of killing us yourselves.”

There's a fundamental ignorance in the pro-war position; namely, that RUssian intent is imperialist, to destroy Ukraine wholly, to take it completely over as a stepping stone to further European conquest.

That's always jsut been propaganda, ignorant of the very fundamental realities of who these people are and why this war is actually being fought. Simplified, russia is fighting to neuterthe threat that is a NATO oriented Ukraine by taking away their access to the sea. Shock and awe, completely destroying cities like Kharkov and Kiev, whic are the cradles of Russian civilization, even if it were in their capability militarily like it is in ours, isn't and wasn't ever in the cards... just as occupying western Ukraine wasm't, where the most ardent Ukrainian nationalists and neo-nazis are, was never the goal or they would've invaded with much larger numbers.

Now there's fundamental ignorance for ya. Taking away access to the sea? LMAO. The cradle of American civilization is England. LMAO.

incidentally, this is 💯

You just answered your first question with your second sentence. Certain posters on this thread and the politard thread are wowed by their overrated military. Personally don’t believe Russia uses a tactical nuke unless they are being routed in Crimea (not likely) & desperate.

If Russia uses a nuke because their “pride” is hurt and can’t take mocking, then they deserve all the backlash and global condemnation that will be the consequence, including China withdrawing their tacit support. They deserve it regardless, nukes or no nukes.

FALSE

Why did Kyiv get invaded by the VDV shock troops on Feb 25th from Hostomel, if the capital was “never in the cards”? That literally was the target during the first two days of the invasion during the same time Mariupol was being pounded to rubble.

They would've taken it if they didn't resist, sure.

That would've ended the war before it even had a chance to get going. They just would've installed a puppet regime in Ukraine, gave some form of autonomy in the southeast, and called it quits.

Lots of people would still be alive today were that to have transpired, but there's no money in that.

Can you quote a post where someone is wowed by Russia’s military? I would love to see support of that claim.

As far as I’ve seen, the general consensus is they do not have a strong military, but do have nukes. Some people think Putin will pull out of Ukraine or accept death rather than using nukes, some people think Putin would resort to nukes. I’ve not seen anyone who is wowed by Russias military.

The real point is: why do we or you or anybody else care what it says about Russia’s military?

The entire thing is a circus now. You cannot believe anything you hear in any media. It is all sensationalism and propaganda at a level not seen in our lifetimes. Russia and China seem about to enter a partnership. And the circus rolls in this thread with people who continue to think escalation is a good thing.
