Easy, there's no where TO go. A top30 player, likely won't do so great against college competition to warrant gaudy stats as a freshman, and as far as the draft goes, he'll be going up against the top15 HS recruits (riding the potential factor), 15 Euro players, and then college's top30 players... but that 30 likely won't include the 27th ranked recruit as a freshman.
Now, he will likely leave by year 2 or 3.. but college basketball will be fine with that. It's the 1AD, and players now leaving before even playing a game, that's the problem.
unless there is a rule in place to keep kids from leaving, doesn’t matter. Kids will leave when they want
I support 18 yr olds making their own decisions. I just don’t think they should be able to keep a team to scramble at the last minute on a change of heart. That’s unprofessional
Yeah look at those idiots who didn't predict a global pandemic and based their logic on the existing reality at the time.
How could you Rod?

Top 20 guys don’t stay 2-3 years. Need to be 50-70 guys for that.I'd honestly take the top20 guys for 2-3 years.. just to get SOME consistency going.
And that's a whole other can of worms, that I don't even want to get ahead of my self on until this becomes a "thing": Is Cal up for the task? I've often thought some of the older coaches might bow out if a big shakeup happens.
Dog eat dog world. Rod doesn’t owe Cal anything in his mind. It’s business. How could you Rod?
thanks for the infoI know Clarke reached out to UK yesterday about pro-UK stuff, but there’s genuine concern.

but they arent professional....right?

Are they not going to UK to be professionals? Semantics.
I mean he was fired. Spite is realYeah but he could be going after some other guys first (and maybe he did). Seems to me like he gunned right for our players.
OMG.Could things get any worse.
Why yes, yes it could....Boston could become another G....OMG.Could things get any worse.
I hope it's good news, but for some reason, this situation reminds me of a player declining that he will reclassify for months before he finally does it.TwDesigning on twitter quoted his earlier tweet with “calm down y’all” and Terrence liked it. Hopefully it’s good news!

Sure, but there still isn't anywhere TO go to for those lower recruits. Some other league or expansion would need to happen. I guess greater emphasis on euro leagues?
But the minutes we allow kids to go right out of HS, I think the college game will create a bit of a buffer as a result. Yes, we won't have the superstars, some could argue the game will be watered down in some way.
But guys like Juzang, and Matthews, and Lee, and Green.. they all left because of higher recruits coming in that were better. You won't see the transfers and there just won't be enough professional spots for these lower recruits.
IMO anyways.
His name is Shaibuddy, don’t do it to yourself. A top 30-50 guy is easily capable of being 1& D at UK
Why yes, yes it could....Boston could become another G....
Rod Strickland is the operations manager for the G Leagues Professional path. He is just doing his jobs and he didn’t gun for our players. He talked with several of the top recruits one of whom was Clarke. Misleading tweet. Everyone knew Green was going straight pro whether it overseas or G league. They reached out to Clarke yes. You don’t think others haven’t tried to give him money before? 500k and a shoe deal is a strong ass offer but I think he stays with UK. I do think 5-6 others will take that path.Yeah but he could be going after some other guys first (and maybe he did). Seems to me like he gunned right for our players.
its not semantics. the entire premise of being a college athlete is that you are in fact NOT A PROFESSIONAL. if you expect them to act like a professional, pay them like a professional. cant have it both ways
Imagine having a product that cannot be replicated and is wildly popular across the nation and you drive the business into the ground as hard and fast as you can. That's the NCAA with CBBThe NCAA allowed CBB to become as relevant as College Baseball. They only have themselves to blame
Phew.......Almost jumped off this bridge before Bangs posted that.
We can only hope
