I know Kiplingers has a pretty good reputation, but what do you think about some of these picks. Anything that looks interesting? Anything that looks terrible?
Bought more MPC last week. It's a refiner, midstream and gas station business. I wasn't convinced oil would continue the spike higher and higher after the turmoil in the ME. Also a nice 3.64% yield.

I should kick myself. I bought AMD and BABA back 2-3 yrs ago but wasn't nearly patient enough......bailed faaaaar too early.

Ha, don't feel bad.. I bought 6 shares.. moved from $200 to like $300.. I'm not exactly rolling in it.

I only bought them because of a bit of knowledge. They just seemed impossibly low for who their main competitors were. They might not ever make it to Intel or even Nvidia levels.. but I don't see why they won't keep rising. Foreseeable growth in chip sets and graphics cards. And their CEO has been very solid.

I kept following TSLA in 2019 as it kept going down and down and down some more. When it reached $180 what I was reading about the company and Elon Musk brought me around to wanting to buy.

Yet I procrastinated long enough but finally pulled the trigger on the way back up at $205 and held on til it made it to $325 and rashly decided to sell it. Well, hell's bells, today it is at $479.50 and I have sellers remorse. Anybody else been on this ride? Has TSLA's meteoric rally come to an end? Thoughts?

Tesla seemed to bottom when the govt told Musk to STFU. Hindsight.

It's always been a powerful name brand and he's still a genius apparently. Me, not so much. I passed on it and CMG when there was blood in the streets.

I'm still fighting a war against short sellers. We enjoy our good days. Stocktwits is always good for a few laughs in the CONN sub-forum..

"Where are those retard bears now? Clowns were excited for just an hour."

[laughing]

I lost a little value today, but EVERYTHING I own is worth more than when I bought it. Some more than others.

I've gone boring again.

Once my fun money gets tied up in things that will take a long time to mature......I have to build my fun money back up. So, I'm just doing my usual.......funneling the majority into funds, etc.......putting aside a few fun bucks waiting for something fun to strike my fancy.

I’m pretty heavy in Cash, things seem overpriced and/or very risky, nice start to the year except my EEFT was given one more chance today, 4th straight miss on revenue estimates, kicked it to the curb.

Except for HI, ADES and CONN, I'm also real heavy into cash right now. Value plays have also become overpriced.

If you folks have heard of Paul Mampilly and follow him at all.....cash is not the place you want to be right now.

His America 2.0 idea U tube video is well worth listening to.

He professed earlier this past year that TESLA would close in on being a 1000$ stock and is not backing away from that sentiment. If your bored and wanting to spend some time listening....give him a chance. Could well be worth your while.

Good fortune to you all.

Appreciate all tips, will look him up, thanks and hope you return here. I didn’t seek Cash, it just happened as I’m a long time investor who has been burned more than once for over optimism, searching for buys, haven’t found them yet.

Discipline is telling me to shed some AAPL while I continue to ride the recently purchased boring names. I still sit in 20+% cash riding this wave in the brokerage account and < 5% in the IRA's. I find that my long time losers are still losers or flat while winners are winning even more although most are paying me with dividends.

I just looked up my small investment portfolio I started playing with in Feb. 2012 with 120,000. Even though a corrupt broker stole 25,000. early on, I went over 300,000. today.
3 bagger over 8 years is mighty fine, surely some individual stocks in it?

One of my Fidelity Select Sector funds (FSCSX) in which I have a sizeable sum has gone over 410% since 2010.......in fact, all of my Fidelity Select Sector Funds have gone anywhere from 196%-410% during the same time period. 3 of them have gone up ~200%, 2 of them well over 300%, and the big dog of >410%. I've been very impressed.......and continue to stuff them ongoing......

I once had their health care specialty fund, good company for sure, but always keep in mind those funds also go down hard in a bear market!

I spread money around in lots of funds, stocks, dividends, bonds, etc......all diverse and mixed. But my feeling is this.......

....if I put in $10,000 of my hard earned dolla-bills........it becomes $30,000 due to the magic of compounding interest........and then it reduces to $23,000 during a downturn........then I'M STILL UP........then I'll wait another 7 yrs from the $23,000 to double again.......

Good discipline and I once thought like that when younger, but then the years clicked by, those “make nothing” years for extended periods slowed down my plans as did the bear market years...wish I started investing in my early 20s rather than my late 30s!

If you are into bitcoin look at GBTC, I bought it at $11.86 last week and it is up 12.47% as of today.
If its a mj/REIT play you like, look at IIPR, I bought at $78.52 and it is up 17.55% as of today.
Bought Zillow ZG at $31.91 and its up 59.06% as of today.

If you fancy working the pink sheets market, here are some of my fav's:

CLVS bought at $7.33 and up 37.50% as of today.
OESX at $3.86 and up 52.05% as of today.
PLUG at $3.17 and up 41.93% as of today.
VSTM bought at $1.44 and up 44.04% as of today.

But my sleeper pennie stock is SENS, priced at $1.02 today but will be rocketing up soon....as they report partnering with Companion Medical for CGM, In pen System to integrate Sensor Glucose, Insulin Data as reported by BusinessWire yesterday at 8 AM ET. Just a matter of time before this stock really takes off.

Take a look at them fellows and let me know what ya think! Enjoy & Good Fortune to you!!!

The thing about plans and goals is that you should make them often and be prepared to change them as often.......and it's often good to set them low in the first place. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ok, I mentioned some screwups, here’s a success: bought 1,000 sh SPCE on 12/20/19 at $11.16, sold 500 sh today at $23.08, now playing with house money on those 500 sh.

Isn't there a phrase for investing that goes something like, "Sell half for cash and ride the other half to the moon?" Seems very appropriate given this particular investment......lol......

Good one! I usually have trouble selling a rare hot one, probably will rise more, but one tragedy (I pray not) from the bottom falling out...space is exciting, but of course, dangerous.

So, hypothetically, if you had a couple million extra, what would you invest in for the next 6 months to a year?

^ TSLA or any reputable 5G, AI, or robotics stock. I would also suggest you check out Paul Mampilly on you tube videos. America 2.0 video. sound advice for under $100 if you decide to subscribe. Would be the best investment advice you ever could get IMO.

I'm more conservative. I rarely, rarely invest thinking small time frames like 6-12 months. If I had a couple extra million laying around I would expand my already diverse funds, bonds, stocks, dividends, etc........thinking long term.

However, what areas that I think will be HUGE in the near future.......say within the next 7-10 yrs?
-Marijuana
-Healthcare/Pharma
-Robotics
-Computers/AI
-Batteries/Electric Autos
-Alternative Energy, etc.

Interesting topic.......I'd like to know if anyone knows more about this technology, etc.

I just heard about this 5 minutes ago.......so, I admittedly have no clue about this tech and who the players are.

Basically a company called Watergen has created a machine that can draw moisture out of the air up to 800 liters/day using solar power. It's an Israel based company and they're sharing the tech with the Palestinians.

My first thought when I heard about Watergen's Moisture Vaporator was....

But then I started to wonder about investment opportunity. This has potential to be a very, very lucrative field.

Obviously, much more research needs to be made. Anyone have any ideas, thoughts? Are there other companies who are coming out with similar vaporators?

Good to see you over here, RBS, away from sports briefly, pretty volatile election/coronavirus year to invest! Honestly with that amount of money, if you prefer not to do your own investing, I would talk to friends “truly in the know” and put my money with the top broker at the financial institution nearest you...every city has that one person. I was given a name here in Jackson, Tn, that the big hitters use, surprisingly to me that person worked at a local bank rather than a brokerage (a local broker with that reputation several years ago retired). I enjoy doing my own investing, but if I had a million or more, I would have turned it over to that person, would likely have been a no brainer once I got a view of the LT results and had a conversation with the person.

I like Tandem.
If you bought early, you did well. Diabetes equipment sector, DXCM excellent eps report yesterday, PODD the other big one. All three great stocks, but seemingly overpriced right now.

A future player in the diabetes sector is SENS, currently a pennie stock that I mentioned in an earlier post.

Have you taken the opportunity to check them out.? And if so, what do you think about them? Curious what your thoughts would be?

They are positioning themselves for great success. Just announced a partnership with a insulin company, recently approved for coverage by Medicare, and Humana announced they would cover their product.

Already active with a strong presence in Europe with their EVERSENSE CGM product. FDA approved in the USA now. They will disrupt the diabetes health care model for treatment soon And European giant pharma co.'ROCHE' has been an active supporter for quite some time. Check them out. Time to get in on them early before they explode and the big heavy investment firms weigh in driving the price up. Potential 1000% or more gains.

Thanks, I’ll take a look, diabetes pretty much killed my dad, wicked disease that baby boomers are dealing with heavily.

SENS has had quite the pop the past few days. Those penny stocks scare the hell out of me though. I’ll keep watching, and probably just watch it go up knowing my luck.
